A cute sandwich store located in north augusta. I stopped by on a Saturday for lunch and there was plenty of seating. My sandwich came quickly. I got the special holiday sandwich which was a turkey sandwich with apples and brie. Great spot for a quick solo lunch or to meet with friends and family. I love that they also have items you can grab on the go. I did have a chance to check out the bathroom which was nice and clean. They also have some items like candy for purchase. If you blink you will miss this gem... Nestled in house in downtown North Augusta between a pharmacy and a automobile repair shop is Carolina Hills Sandwich & Sweet Shoppe. There's parking behind the house and on Pine Grove Ave next to the pharmacy. There's indoor and porch seating. Service was friendly, the owner came out to welcome guests and ask how the food was. He even asked one person if they prefered thousand Island dressing on the sandwich or on the side. I ordered the Italian - fresh deli sliced Boar's Head honey maple ham, pepperoni, and salami topped with lettuce, tomato, havarti cheese and house made Italian dressing on a Kaiser roll. It was very good and filled the spot... The room is a combination of retro Southern style that fits the building and local area. Check out the hallway showcasing works from local artists. Highly recommend, I will be back and introducing others to this spot. A must for locals and visitors from out of town. read more

If there is anyone about me I love a good sandwich on a summer day. Such a quaint business that is easy to miss if you're driving through so don't blink because it's a gem! The staff is super friendly and helpful with deciding what to enjoy. I got a Togo portion of yummy pimento cheese which was perfect for snacking. The Italian sandwich was a hit with me and was filling! The side pasta salad was also a perfect little treat. I can't wait to come back and to continue to support a small business. read more

My husband asked me how I found out about this place and it took me a minute to remember but I think I saw their sign the old fashioned way, just driving by, and googled them after to see if it was an old defunct business or a new one! Thank goodness they were new and just getting things set up. They've only been open 2-3 weeks at this point so they're still new but we stopped by for lunch and I really enjoyed it. It's set up in a cute old house (that I think has been a home to businesses for a while now, but still had fun home-like features) right in downtown North Augusta. There's private parking behind the restaurant as well as plentiful street parking not far off. The family that owns Carolina Hills also owns Sweet Racie's Italian Ice which is in the same building but located up front and has slightly different hours I think. I had The Club sandwich and was shocked at how much meat they managed to fit on it! For $12 I thought it was a great deal just based on the volume- it probably could've lasted me for two meals but I enjoyed it all at once. When I ordered they asked if I wanted toasted or not, which I assumed meant the entire sandwich so I said toasted, but it ended up just being the bread. It was fine but I am pregnant and may ask if they can toast the whole thing next time. I also didn't taste any mustard in the sandwich even though the menu says it has mustard, but they do have mustard packets available in the dining area so it was ok. The sandwich comes with a dill pickle but no sides, they cost extra, but the sandwich was big enough I was totally fine with that. Jesse is one of the owners I think and he made and brought out our sandwiches and is very nice. They have a cute display area in the hallway with some artists and historic photos of the area, and overall the place just has a good cozy vibe. I also felt like North Augusta really needed a sandwich shop since their restaurant options are a little limited and I think Carolina Hills fills that spot perfectly. You know that you know that you know I love new. New business-nonprofit-street artist-market vendor, doesn't matter. I'm all in. They have a dream, they're pursing that dream. And I love supporting them. But, when that dream involves some good food...well, just being honest. I really love supporting them. And so Carolina Hills popped up on my radar, just across the Savannah River (from me) in North Augusta. I didn't make it by their opening week (my loss), but soon after I came in for lunch. I ordered the Club, broccoli and cheddar soup, and the banana pudding. A team member said something about if I wanted to order a larger portion of the pudding. I don't know if they were joking or not, but I should have said yes. That pudding was gone in two bites! As were the sandwich and soup. There is a visible and palatable difference when food is made fresh and made with fresh ingredients. The softness of the bread, the perfect balance in the layering, the joy found in every bite. The "house" is a walking history lesson in the area, reflecting their love for North Augusta. This is not the first business for the owners, and that experience shows. They have brought their life and business lessons to this building and this business and have created something that will be around for many years. Mid Saturday we needed to run to Costco and because we didn't want to go hungry we decided to get a sandwich. My brother had recently suggested a place in North Augusta that his friend had opened so we went there. Carolina Hills is located on Main near the Pink Dipper. It's an older home that was a second hand shop the last time I was there. There is lots of parking behind the building. There is also a ramp for easy disability access. The back has been cleaned up and there are several outdoor tables there. It was 11:30 and already 93 degrees so we headed inside. It's so cute! The walls are a crisp white and shallow shelves hold local art work for sale. There are several dining areas with wooden tables and chairs. Signs tell you to go to the front to order. A large room in the front has a counter, a refrigerator case with cokes, a rack of potato chips and a self serve fountain area and tea. The girl taking orders was nice and answered all our questions. Our party included three old lady and my 9 year old niece. Our little ordered the grilled cheese that came with a drink under the kid's section of the menu. I ordered a rueben and made it a combo so I got to pick a side. I chose the chicken corn poblano chowder. My mom got the club sandwich and her friend got a BLT on a croissant with a bag of chips. My niece declared her grilled cheese "to die for" rivaled only by her Aunt Kry's grilled cheese. When trying a new sandwich shop I often order a Rueben. If a place makes a good Rueben I figure they can trusted with making other sandwiches. Carolina Hills can be totally trusted. My sandwich was loaded with corned beef and sauerkraut. My mom reported her club was delicious and the BLT got good marks too. We did decide that sharing a sandwich would be the way to go next time. We each had to take half our sandwich home. Unfortunately that meant we were too full to try desserts, maybe next time. My mom made me promise to point out that there was two very nice bathrooms. read more

Nice clean place. The decor isn't really my thing, but that's neither here nor there. The service was very friendly and fast considering how busy they were. The price was decent. I got the Reuben and it was extremely pedestrian. Just sort of flavorless. They put the 1000 island dressing on the side in a little package. It didn't even have spicy mustard on it. We weren't given the option either. Weird. Tasted just like the ones they used to make at YO! Pizza (not a compliment). I probably won't be back. read more

Great new-ish lunch option in NAugusta, on Georgia Ave. Have stopped in twice since their opening and I have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. It's another location that has repurposed an older house in the downtown area (like McNeeley's). The decor is simple and tasteful and they have kept many of the original architectural details of the house. There are multiple rooms with tables for inside dining as well as a few tables outside. The set up is to order at the counter, get your drink cup and pay. You are then given a number so the runner can find you when your food is ready. You get your drink, perhaps your chips and find a table. I have enjoyed their Carolina turkey and their chicken salad croissant. My companion enjoyed their club sandwich and as many has already mentioned was impressed with the amount of meat and cheese it contained. For a small upcharge we added chips and a drink to my meal and a serving of pasta salad (also delicious) and a drink to my friend's meal. This is definitely a place I will return to as well recommend my friends. Highly recommend! Wishing the owners much success!!! read more

My club sandwich was loaded and delicious. The order took some time to arrive so don't go expecting fast food service. I appreciated the lack of a Television so I was able to visit with my friends and hear them. Everything was perfect, from original order, to delicious and satisfying. The seating area was comfortable and the staff friendly. The house features local art (for sale) and clever decor. The restrooms are pristine. The experience was so comfortable that you might be tempted into lingering. I look forward to trying other menu options and soon. read more
