Went to Toastique today after I did a 5K at Yards Park and it was such a good post run stop. I got one of their protein smoothies, I think it was the berry one, and it was really good. Super refreshing, filling, and exactly what I needed afterward. The location is also great if you're already around the Navy Yard/Yards Park area. We tried the avocado toast and a couple açaí bowls. Overall, really tasty food. One of our bowls was not blended well and very liquid so we asked to have that one remade. After that, it was great. Very creative menu. I had two complaints. First, the blenders and extremely loud and aren't covered, so it's not a great space to eat or have a conversation. Second, the person who took our order and made our food wasn't helpful at times, and didn't make us feel particularly welcome. Well, I learned that blue majik has a very strong, overpowering, artificial/chemical-like flavor. Toastique is finally open in Navy Yard and I couldn't be happier. I'm not sure if this location is any bigger than the Wharf location but it looks like it. It is more spaced out and not so cluttered when you walk in. There's a bunch of bar seating in front of the window but only a few high tables. There's a few tables outside, however. I'm a huge fan of the PB&B bowl, it's flavorful and creamy and not too sweet. The Avocado Smash toast is great too. I tried the 3 Cheese Italian toast today and while it's good, it's a little hard to eat once the cheese congeales.The onion jam is AMAZING though. I would just buy that on its own. It was quite delicious, and a substantial amount of food. My partner had the avocado smash which was under salted but otherwise good. The problem is that they only provide the cheapest plastic utensils, and they aren't able to adequately cut through the toast or toppings, resulting in a disappointing dining experience and frustrating their customers. Word to the wise: buy some cutlery. A set of metal forks and knives would probably cost your restaurant $600. Well worth it to improve your customer experience. read more
