Ace acai bowl was tasty and refreshing! The balance of soft fruit with crunchy coconut flakes and granola was absolutely perfect. Oftentimes, I don't get enough "crunch" in my acai bowls, so I was very pleased and satisfied with the crunchy texture of this bowl. The granola is homemade and has some chopped nuts (which I believe are almonds), and they added a really nice nutty/savory flavor to the bowl, making it feel more filling. Half (chicken) sandwich and half (mushroom) soup is a good deal. Nothing particularly mind-blowing about these foods, but the soup was hot, and the sandwich warm and satiating. The soup was a bit thin and could be thicker, but the flavors, slightly peppery and salty, were satisfying enough. Service was good and quick. We visited Zeleno for coffee and breakfast on a Friday morning in DC. The food here is healthy, with lots of acai bowls and smoothies. While you can get the usual coffee drinks like a latte, cappuccino, Americano, etc, you can also order a power coffee that's a healthier option with espresso. I had a skinny vanilla latte, while my husband had a cold brew and a breakfast biscuit/sandwich. Came by for Cold Brew Coffee (Dupont Coffee Collective next door didn't offer cold brew). Zeleno does offer both regular cold brew and nitro cold brew, both Illy's ready-to-serve cold brew. I ordered the large (24 oz) nitro cold brew, but probably only received 6-8 oz of coffee, because (a) the glass was filled to the brim with ice (typically nitro is served with little or no ice) and (b) the machine produced mostly foam that left little coffee after it settled. I finished the drink in minutes and didn't feel the slightest buzz (from what should have been a large, highly caffeinated cold brew). Might be a fine destination for espresso, hot coffee, or smoothies, but not recommended for nitro cold brew coffee. read more

I stopped in for the Bibis Beet Latte and really enjoyed it after my Pilates class. The decor is perfect for a cute photo with your coffee or smoothie. In order to get my health in line, I've decided to eat more/drink more produce. This decision isn't cheap but I'm giving it a shot. After having some extremely expensive Smoothies from Fruitive the past couple of days, I decided to give Zeleno a shot. I ordered the Mango Dragon Smoothie, Acai Bowl, and the Classic Wellness Shot. I spent about $2 less for all this than I would have at Fruitive just for a Smoothie. I spent $33 for all this at Zeleno compared to $35 at Fruitive. I ordered online yesterday for pickup today through the Toast app and had no issues walking in and grabbing my items. The space is small, but charming. I was very impressed with the Acai Bowl and Smoothie but the Wellness Shot was extremely tart and spicy. I wasn't sure what to expect but I can say it wasn't for me. I like the fact I can get more bang for my buck here compared to Fruitive and might make this my daily spot during the week for breakfast. read more

What a fantastic smoothie I had at Zeleno! I visited Zeleno for some fuel before marching in the DC Pride Parade. When I went inside I absolutely loved their leafy well with a neon rainbow. I am not sure if they always have the rainbow up or if that was special for Pride Month. Either way it was picture perfect and I loved the aesthetic. Their menu seems very Veg friendly. All of their roasts had honey in it which you could probably ask to be excluded or maybe they can replace it with something. I opted to try the Matcha Gotcha smoothie for a nice energy boost and nourishment. This smoothie hit the spot! It was so creamy, and I loved that there was no gritty taste despite blending in many ingredients. The flavor was the perfect balance of sweetness and it certainly gave me the energy I needed to march in the DC Pride Parade. I would definitely return here to try some more of their menu. Stopped here by chance after craving something light + cold in town and this adora-bowl place truly hit the spot! We ordered the Island Refresh and the Silk Road smoothie bowls. Both had pleasantly blended consistencies with delicious fresh fruits and crunchy toppings. I appreciated how the smoothies were not overly sweet and thick. Cute new little spot in Dupont for coffee, smoothies, bowls, and light bites! I had the paradise acai bowl which is this fun beautiful blue color. It doesn't seem like you can customize the fruit in the actual bowl because they're those pre-packed frozen fruit servings but you can customize the toppings and switch them out which was great! Limited seating, about 5 tables and some stools upfront, but if you can grab a spot it's a nice place to read or work or relax. There are only two people so service can be a little slower especially if there's a long line but the servers are really friendly and will bring bowls right to tables. The bathroom is a little tragic. It's clean but feels very cold and dungeon like compared to the cute interior of the cafe. Otherwise a cute little spot I'd be happy to come back to. I came in here a couple of weeks ago when I can into D.C. for the open houses for the EU Delegation and the Portuguese Embassy. The place has an artsy neighborhood vibe. I got a Buratta Mia sandwich ($12.88), a Blue Lagun smoothie ($8.80), and some chips ($2.88). The total was $27.08 after tax. The Blue Lagun had banana, pineapple, coconut milk, and blue sperulina. The sandwich had Italian buratta cheese, olive tapenade, avocadoes, tomatoes, and arugula on pumpernickel bread. The sandwich was really good and not too filling. My experience with Zeleno's food was both expensive and inedible. I ordered the Keto Fuel Bowl and Ocean Blend drink with oat milk for takeaway on Yelp. One star for my food being on time, and the presentation was ok. When I walked inside to grab my food, one single very young-looking boy was working behind the counter serving at least 3-4 people. He handed me my order and I left. When I got to opening my food I noticed my "açaí" bowl was green - there was no evidence of açaí. If you have ever made an açaí bowl, the açaí tends to turn whatever is in the bowl to a dark purple color. The toppings looked fresh, but as soon as I took my first bite, I knew there was no açaí in it. The flavor was awful, nearly inedible, but I gave it a chance anyway. You could only taste the avocado and zucchini. I took another bite and my teeth cracked down on something hard and cold- a giant chunk of ice. As I ate I kept finding more and more chunks of ice. This bowl was absolutely awful, the worst açaí bowl I have ever had. And the prices are ridiculous for what you get. I will be writing to the store to ask for a refund. My Ocean Blend drink tasted okay, not great, and whoever made it clearly forgot to put oat milk in it, which I paid extra for. I will not be returning. read more
