Every year we have a free dinner party on the roof in Ray Price's old apartment that sits on top of the dealership. This year we got to watch fireworks on New Years from up there, it was amazing. I've literally ridden thousands of miles and stayed overnight on HOG trips in 20+ states with these people. The HOG group is one of the best groups of people you will find anywhere. They do a ton of annual trips to the Dragon, Little Switzerland, The Outer Banks, and National Rallys--we went to New Orleans and St Louis and even West Virginia in 2025!! They also do new trips to new locations every year. They even have monthly dinner rides and weekly lunch rides--something for Not only does the HOG group host rides but the dealership does as well. I've camped in the mountains with the staff from the dealership who made all of our food for us and led rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway and other amazing roads, and they didn't care if you rode in on a Harley or not, there were young guys there with Honda's and they treated them just the same. That's not how Bulldog is going to treat you (and they don't even support a HOG group of their own riders if that tells you anything). They do a ton of public events for everyone. They often have free activities for kids like building Lego Motorcycles. They often have free food as well as an assortment of food trucks. Bands. Mobile shops selling all sorts of motorcycle items both handmade and wholesale. On top of all of that, they offer many amazing classes such as rider classes and safety courses. Took my Road King in for ABS brake flush and decided to get the pugs done vs me doing it. The bike had fingerprints all over the tank and windshield. In addition, the fuel gauge wires were not put back in the harness, so they were dangling under the tank when I got home. I also found a nick and very small scratches on the dash insert. I know they were not there before, and I don't have kids etc. Proving they did it is impossible. Since I had locks on the sissy bar and my guess is they dropped the key chain on the tank with those keys on it. I did take it back and they fixed the wires which lasted until I got home. I posted a review on Google and the owner said he would talk to the shop but no call, apology. or attempt to make it right. Caveat emptor is the moral. If service is indicative of sales, I am so glad I bought it at Charleston SC Harley. read more

I brought my bike in for cams and dyno tuning and left with a bike that run poorly and died when stopped. Up until this time the bike ran flawlessly. I took the bike back to the dealership and after a few days they told me the Power Commander 5 was broken and I needed a new one. They sold me a flash tune from a Power Vision and charged me for the dyno session again. The Power Commander 5 has visible gash marks and a cracked side with a chip missing from the case. It appears it was preyed out, possibly with a screw driver. When I called the service manager, Nick Morris, and explained the issue he became agitated and insisted his techs didn't do anything wrong and the Power Commander 5 was installed under the seat which he claims is a wrong location (Power Commander's website shows the unit under the seat and is been under my seat without issue for approximately 5 years). I asked for a discount and was refused. This feels like the classic case of "we broke this so charge the customer for a new one." I'm very disappointed with this experience and will be taking my business to Ray Price Harley Davidson. If you use Tobacco Road for service make sure your pre-inspect your bike because they will not always do the right thing. read more

My 2017 Ultra Limited had a faulty breather assembly. Took them 2 weeks to diagnose it. I had them do a Stage IV, and it had never-ending problems afterwards. In the world of serious motorcyclists, there's a commonly used acronym to describe a certain class of rider. It's called a RUB, or a Rich Urban Biker. You know the type. A dentist, OB/GYN, or other financially well-heeled professional who decides to "live it up" and get that motorcycle he has always fantasized about. He finally gets the bike, and he also gets the gear; the Harley Davidson branded jacket, the Harley Davidson branded boots, the Harley Davidson branded jeans, the Harley Davidson branded bandana, the Harley Davidson branded helmet, the Harley Davidson branded gloves, and the Harley Davidson branded thong for his wife. The problem is, this RUB doesn't actually do any riding. Sure, he goes out to the dealer on the occasional Saturday after cleaning non-existant bits of dust off of the chromed drive-belt cover (an optional accessory he rationalized as "easier to keep clean than the black painted cover", even though he paid to have it installed). He talks about planning a trip for next summer (that never materializes). He even throws in the occasional four letter expletive when he talks to sound "bad". I've been a motorcyclist for most of my nine years that I've lived in North Carolina (and have amassed about 60,000 miles on my two bikes in that time), and I always get the feeling when I go into Ray Price that he's building a very healthy retirement by catering to RUBs. If you're looking for Harley Davidson branded gear, you'll be in heaven here. Not only can you attire your entire family in HD gear, but you can also furnish your home, stock your kitchen, and fill your garage with all sorts of tools to fix your motorcycle. I'm fairly certain I even saw shot glasses in there (because alcohol and motorcycles are a fantastic combination). But when it really comes down to stuff that you actually need to be a serious motorcyclist, the place is a bit thin. There's an unending barrage of expensive little chrome bits and pieces festooned with skulls and suchlike, but there's not a hope I'd find, say, a set of panniers for a serious ride to the arctic circle (not that you'd mount panniers on a Harley, mind you), or a decent selection of aftermarket touring clothes that are probably a thousand times better than the HD branded crap. I owned a Harley Davidson (and sold it with just over 30,000 miles on it, thankyouverymuch), and the point of this review isn't so much to criticize the motorcycle (although there was plenty to criticize) as it is a comment on the owner/rider experience that Ray Price was creating. I know a few serious riders that do hang out there, and if you go to one of the million-odd bike shows that Ray Price hosts every year you'll see some high-mileage bikes there with plenty of bug guts on the headlamp and stone chips on the front fender. But, for the most part, what I see Ray Price catering to is the RUBs of the world; the ones with plenty of disposable income and a need to compensate for some certain inadequacies. And for those of us who put more than 300 miles on our bike every year, Ray Price doesn't cut it; his prices are firmly in RUB territory, his product selection is mostly crap, and his sales staff's attitude is more about selling the RUB lifestyle than it is about living a real motorcyclist's lifestyle. read more

Ray Price Harley-Davidson is one of the largest motorcycle dealers in the state. I've purchased two motorcycles here and have been happy with the experience. Could I have bought them cheaper elsewhere? Maybe but, I thought I was treated fairly. The owner, Ray Price, is well known in HD circles. He is an inducted member of four halls of fame including the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame, North Carolina Drag Racing Hall of Fame and is noted as the Father of the Funnybike. He was instrumental in creating the current style racing transmission. He continues to sponsor both a Harley Drag racing and a Triumph Road racing team. The service department does a good job at reasonably fair prices. But, let's face it, motorcycle dealers are like car dealers and you can expect to pay a premium for service at the dealer. I wouldn't hesitate to trust them with my bike. From motorcycles to T-shirts to undies, if it has the HD logo on it you can probably find it here! The Raleigh Harley Owners Group (HOG) meets at Ray Price and does at least two rides every weekend. They are also avid supporters of a number of local charities. I guess I disagree with the comments about RUBS. If you're going to drop 20K- 30K on a motorcycle, you probably have a real job! If that makes me a RUB, so be it... read more

Ray Price is a solid dealership. They have good management and mostly good sales people. The parts department is top notch. I used to use their service department until they made some major mistakes with my wife's bike. They're OK for your five thousand mile services, but I no longer trust them for major repairs and mods. As is typical for most dealerships, it's a fun hang-out place and they are running a fun event most weekends in high season. Go grab your bike, meet other riders, and make friends. My wife took their female-only class for beginners, made new friends, and now rides her own Harley. I always love the passions of a "serious biker" who likes to trash other riders as RUBs with a pathetic combination of class envy and smug sanctimony. Look, we all feel bad you didn't do well in school and don't make much money. It's sad you have to look for validation in your annual bike mileage. Here's a clue: no one cares how much you ride.. What does it matter that someone just wants a bike as a garage ornament and bar-hopper? If they can afford it and it makes them happy, good for them. They can dress up in leathers, and play pirate. It's all in good fun. They are no less a biker than the tool bag who iron-butts 300 miles on a rainy 45 degree day and gets to boast about it. I love putting miles on my bikes from Ray Price. Some years I'll do 20K, and some years a lot less due to travel and work. Here's a tip - all Harleys are pricey. If you're looking for steep discounts, scour Craig's List for a beater. Buying a used Harley can be a gamble, but the ones you buy from RPHD have been vetted and are up to specs. They back them up. That's what you're paying for. If that's not a priority for you, fine. Get one to wrench on. I personally want to spend my free time riding my bike, not working on it. And the little extra I pay at RPHD means I have insurance if I have a mechanical problem or other issue. For those looking for cheap, used bikes, color me shocked to learn a salesperson at Ray Price promotes the H-D brand. If you went there looking for a cheap, used Suzuki and the salesman wasn't high-fiving you about your choice, you are the fool. It's a Harley and Triumph dealership, Einstein. I visited Ray Price several months ago when I was looking for a used bike for the occasional weekend ride. I found their inventory to be over priced and their advice to be completely self serving for their products and entirely inaccurate with their berating of other brands they did not offer/have access to. Fast forward to today. I needed a new tire on the bike that I purchased and am extremely happy with (contrary to Ray Price advise). I decided to check with them since there are few folks who can and will install a motorcycle tire. I thought I'd get a price for purchasing the tire from them and also get it installed there. Their tire prices were ~50% higher than others in the area. But the worst was their price to put the tire on the rim is $95 which is apparently their new labor rate. The only way I would feel good about this kind of pricing is if they would hold a gun on me so I can complete the experience of them robbing me! I made a deal on a new Road King at Tobacco Road Harley. Told me it would be no problem getting me the color bike I wanted. Told me all I had to do was fill out a finance request, if approved we had a deal. Knowing this would be no problem I filled it out and was approved within minutes. Texted the salesman and told him, he said we would be good to go once the business office got the info. The next day I received a text saying we were good to go except they couldn't find one in that color. They did have a black one in stock. I visited Ray Price HD today to get some tires mounted. I always bring in my rims (off the bike) and new tires to get them transferred. The last time I did this I went to a pretty nice shop about an hour and a half away, but since I moved last year I figured I would give RPHD a try, Even though I KNOW they're going to charge more. I had no idea it would be that much. The other shop charged me $65 to transfer rubber. RPHD charged me $145, More than twice as much. I figured they would know what they were doing considering the price, It should be right, RIGHT? Of course not, I drove home to mount my new tires, But low and behold they mounted the front tire backwards. I drove back down to the dealership to have them remount the tire correctly. Did they offer money back for my lost time? NO. Did they ask what bike model the tires came off of so they could look it up? NO. When I brought the tire back they asked what model the bike was. When he handed me back my tire he made an excuse about the year and model being the "only year like that". I almost pointed out that the direction arrow on the old tire would have told them the correct mounting direction. Never Again!!! Long story short, I unfortunately purchase my 2020 Triumph Rocket 3R from a different dealership because it was a little closer to home but when I got home I rode it for only 8 miles until I received a check engine light. My dealership ignored me an were dragging their feet to help and so I called up to this place. Leah in service was extremely helpful, kept in contact, and even offered to have someone drive 2 hours away to come pick up my bike. I decide to just make the trip up there myself and in an hour, everything was fixed! They even identified several things my dealership didn't do correctly during the PDI. I wish I would have purchased from Raleigh but I will for sure be continuing and recommending service through them in the future! The best way to review Ray Price is in 3 sections dealership, parts department & service. Dealership: Honestly my experience was good. The price was fair, and they even matched a 6 month old offer with a store gift card for parts, a one day 10% discount and free service. The paperwork took longer than anticipated but they apologized with a trickle charger and 2 t-shirts. Parts: Great experience so far. Most of the parts that are bike specific have to be ordered but they always show up on time and correct. Most come with instructions but the weekday parts man has always offered schematics to help with more complicated installs. His advice has always been spot on and extremely helpful. Service: This has been my worst experience and sadly has driven my business to a dealership elsewhere. I've had a break in service and a radio replaced under warranty. The radio was intermittent and I took it in for a consult. After being told a new one would be ordered I traveled home where I found a voicemail telling me I Had to return for diagnostics before they would order a replacement. After the break-in service their multi point inspection and road test failed to identify a missing muffler mount that I noticed on the way home due to excessive vibration. I had to return to have this fixed. Then after the new radio was installed on a separate trip I returned home to find the bolts for the inner fairing not even fastened in their respective mounts. Instead they were just sitting in their holes, I fixed this myself and resealed the fairing that had a noticeable gap when viewed from straight down. Not to mention every service took 1-1.5 more hours than quoted and a wash would have cost me another hour. I would highly recommend if you need service look elsewhere unless you have a ton of free time for multiple trips and tools at home to fix what they overlook or forget. read more

I ordered a hydraulic brake switch for my '08 1125r buell. On a monday. They said it would come in on Thursday. I stopped in thurday at lunch. They said its going to take one more day and they will call me as soon as it comes in. So on sunday morning i called and asked how long till my part will arrive. They said its been here for 3 days. Well, this won't be a disertation about how selling to all the Rich Urban Bikers in a RICH URBAN COUNTY is a bad business strategy. Personally, it sounds like a really good way to run a business to me. I'm probably going to mispell a few words and use poor sentence structure too but I'm a mechanic I'm not trying to impress you with my grasp of the English language like some. Plain and simple I bought my Forty-Eight in January after taking the Rider's Edge course at Ray Price. Almost three months later I've already clocked 3000 miles on it and can tell you that I've had nothing but compliments about it. I've gone in for one service and one repair (repair today actually) and visited the store several times before. On EVERY occasion the staff has been courteous and helpful. Today, while the bike was in for the repair (Triple tree adjustment, nothing major) I needed to make an exchange for a part that I couldn't carry on the bike. The Salesman LENT ME HIS CAR to go home and get the part. I agree that this is not the norm in many scenarios but sometimes the exceptions that are positive need to be pointed out as well as the horribly wrong ones too. I'm extremely happy with my ENTIRE experience from taking the Rider's Edge course to simply just going up there to hang out. It's only a given that there will be good and bad experiences with every business but mine has been great since my first visit to Ray Price Harley Davidson. read more

I have to disagree with one of the other reviews. I had a great experience with the service department. I was passing through Raleigh when my bike just wouldn't run. I called them on a Saturday morning and explained my predicament. Of course they were slammed already. However, Howard told me to bring it in and they would work me in and try to get me back on the road. Long story short, they diagnosed and repaired the problem (throttle position sensor) and got me back on the road. Thanks to Ray Price HD I had an awesome 1853 mile trip! read more
