good pizza, but is it really the best in Blom/Normal area? Came here at night with a friend and there was zero other customers present. The dining room looks like a scene from a mobster's movie, as if the restaurant was a front for the Italian mob. But in reality, this place is just really old fashioned and had lots of history to it where you can find pictures and illustrations dating back to the 1970s. We were quickly seated by the waitress in a booth. We ordered the garlic bread and a large Hawaiian pizza. The garlic bread has much to rave about. it was crispy and just seasoned just perfectly. The pizza left a bit to be desired though. It was kind of soggy and the greasy cheese just slipped off the crust. that is a deal breaker for me :( but our waitress was very nice and refilled our drinks promptly. read more

Waaaaaaaay back in the day this was my pizza of choice while attending Illinois State. I had the chance to stop in this week and not a damn thing has changed. Horrible customer service (has been going downhill for a while but now not worth ordering from). Called and ordered pizza, was told check was fine as long as not from "wood forest bank" (same line they've used for years...no idea why the owner doesn't like wood forest, but not my place to question since they are upfront about it). Have paid by check from First State Bank Bloomington dozens of times. Check refused when delivery came. Called to complain and was brushed off. Will be giving Grady's all my business from now on. Better Pizza and WAY better sides/non-pizza items. Only ordered from Tobin's because Grady's is so popular the wait can be a little longer. My favorite pizza in the country!! Order Momma Teresa's pizza. It's the BEST pan pizza I've ever had. When my sister was visiting, we got some Tobin's for the rest of the family. She doesn't like pizza, but after everyone exclaimed how good it was, she tried and now she always asks me to bring some from Illinois to Iowa when we visit :) Normally, pizza sauce gives her heartburn, but Momma Teresa's has cheese with tomatoes on top--no sauce :) Tobin's is popular, so if you dine-in, you may be waiting 10-15 minutes for a table. Also, because the Momma Teresa's is pan pizza, it takes longer to make--but it's well worth it! To curb your appetite, try their yummy Super Salad Bowl. It can also be quite noisy, so if you want a quieter night, do carryout instead. We have ordered delivery a few times and found the pizza to be a bit soggy. It's much better to do carryout than delivery. We always order the Momma Teresa 15", and even during busy times the pickup time is only 30 minutes. The pizza does well as leftovers :) The 15" has 8 GIANT pieces, so you can get at least 4-6 meals from it. I used to eat Micheleo's once a week because they had a great lunch special on slices. After they went out of business, Tobin's bought their recipes, so if you're craving Micheleo's you can still enjoy it! The only downside is that we are vegetarians and four times have had pepperoni or ham on our pizza instead of pineapple (They use shorthand, I think it's P for pepperoni and PA for pineapple, and one guy taking the phone order even refused to write out pineapple when I asked :( We order a weird combo of onions and pineapple, so sometimes they think it's Hawaiian and put the ham on. So then when that happens we have to wait for them to remake the pizza.. not good when you're hungry. We've also found random bits of sausage and ham on our pizza, probably just drops down from other pizzas? It would be great if they could put the vegetarian pizzas on the top rack or do something to prevent those. Not a big deal, but for us it's a little sad that the animals died and someone who wants to eat ham or pepperoni is missing out because we just throw it away. Let's end on a more upbeat note. Tried to grab a pizza the other night and the staff was terrible, got my number wrong twice and saying they tried to deliver the pizza but no one answered. The manager tried to make it seem like it was my fault their employee got the number wrong and after I waited and 2+ hours calling multiple times. Will not not be ordering here again. read more

We love Tobin's pizza!! Most nights, standing room only but Moe does his best to get you seated!! Our recent trip was excellent. Christmas break for the college kids so we were seated right away or just got lucky!! We always have the deluxe pizza and a Hawaiian when we go. Never disappointed, lots of toppings, cheese and a good thin crust. The cheese bread, salad and chicken dinner are yummy also!! On the last night of a road trip and we didn't feel like going anywhere for dinner, just too tired. I checked on Yelp to see what good pizza was in the area. Tobin's had a lot of good reviews and they had thin crust which was just what we needed after a long day of travel. It took a whole to get here, but it was worth the wait. The packaging was something we had never seen before and we were intrigued. The pizza was pretty hot still and very yummy. The sauce was good and we were not overwhelmed by too much cheese. I was very dissapointed in our visit to tobins. We sat down and it was pretty empty even at dinner time. Our waitress could hardly be bothered with us. The pizza menu is over complicated. We ordered wings, the garlic bread and a deep dish 14" pizza. Our waitress brought our drinks out and then we didn't even see her again until the deep dish came out about 30 or 40 mins later. No wings or bread ever came out. She laughs and says, so they threw your ticket in the bowl and the wings and bread was never started. They will be out in 10 mins. They finally come out and we are done with our pizza. We were not offered so much as an apology. Then she brings the bill...grand total of $56 and some change. We were charges $12 for drinks alone. Seriously, I could have ran across the street to Kroger and bought my family of 5 drinks for $6 or $7. Anyways. Pizza was good, nothing like it was when I was a kid. Bread and wings were ok. Would have been nice to have had them as appetizers like we should have. Pitiful service. I think I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. I've carried out pizza here a few times and don't think it's anything special. I was recently given a gift card so I decided to try it again and ordered a two topping (vegetables) pizza. When I started eating the pizza, I found little bits of ham on several slices. I'm a vegetarian so this really was not okay with me. The ham wasn't spread out throughout the entire pizza, only a small area which tells me the ingredients were contaminated/mixed in. Since it was only part of the pizza and I used a gift card, I decided I didn't want to spend my time driving back but I definitely won't be returning. If you order a pizza without meat, it should come without meat (especially ham)! read more

It seems to be a consensus: Tobin's is perhaps the best pizza in Bloomington-Normal (that's actually saying something, given the number of places that serve up pies here in town). The Mama Theresa's is indeed phenomenal, but you can't go wrong with a "regular" thin crust pizza, either. They have barbecue sauce (or something like it) on all the tables, and I douse each slice with it before eating it. It's not that the plain pizza leaves something to be desired, it's just that it's even better with the sauce! The prices are definitely reasonable, and there are some other tasty menu items if you're not feeling like pizza. But this is the kind of pizza you can eat even when you don't really feel like eating pizza. They don't accept credit cards, which is kind of absurd, so make sure to have cash or check on hand. read more

I would not recommend dining in. Here's a play by play of our night on 8/30/2016 and reasons for rating -Ticket times are unacceptable! -Waitress provided average service; but accurate wait time would've been nice. -atmosphere where we sat was freezing and cooled food almost faster than we could eat it (we where by the take out window area in a booth) - overall decor is cheap and dingy (plastic flannel-backed table cloths, plastic fake grapes laced in indoor lattice, red and green scratched up picture frames that look dirty and glass is noticing not clean and held up with cheap plastic tacky tabs, etc. 7:19- we arrive 7:20- we where seated 7:21- orders where taken, 3 pasta dishes and 1 pizza. 7:50- (30 minutes!!!-acceptable wait time is 15-20 minute ticket times) Only 3 pasta dishes arrived. Waitress said pizza would be only another 6 minutes. 8:05- (15 minutes elapse) pizza arrives. 2/3 people who ordered pasta are done when pizza arrived for 4th person. 8:13- we get our bill and cash is on the table at 8:14 8:17- waitress comes back with bill (not a bad wait time for bill) read more

I love Tobin's pizza. I always stick to my favorite toppings of theirs: sausage, pepperoni & mushroom. I love the fresh mushrooms. My parents used to order from here all the time when I was little. It's always been really good. Their garlic bread is great if you dine in. I also like the BBQ thats on each table.
