I like this place. We have been here twice so far, and I have tried the Tochi ramen and the shoyu pork ramen. Both were good, but not mindblowing. The miso deviled egg that comes with the Tochi ramen is delish and more unique than a soft boiled egg, and the miso broth is good. As for the pork ramen, I actually subbed the crispy pork for the pork belly. I normally love me some pork belly, but when I tried it before it was a little too chewy and not crispy enough for me. They have a limited drink menu (your options are sake, beer, wine, tea, and sprecher soda [hey, I like lemonade!]). Not a huge deal but just be aware. I love this restaurant! It is my favorite restaurant to take my friends whenever they visit and my girlfriend and I love eating here as well. The tonkotsu is by and far my favorite dish. The restaurant is pretty small but it's well kept and clean and feels and looks modern and trendy. Heard about this place from a friend and was excited to go for a long time. It's a bit far for us, so when we made the drive up I was really hoping it wouldn't disappoint. My ramen definitely lived up to the hype! The broth was soooo flavorful and each component was a needed part of the yummy puzzle. The fact that this place serves the quality of food that I would gladly drive 45 minutes to get and is only 25 or so minutes from my front door is one of the best things to ever happen to me. Beverages were good--my Great Dane pilsner beer was served straight up in the can, which I can honestly say serves the overall aesthetic of the restaurant well. Not my preference (I would have taken a glass were it offered to me), but no harm, no foul. Our appetizer of pork buns (two buns, three bites or so each) are the "sandwich" style, instead of the stuffed version. They weren't as hot as I was expecting, but the sauce was rich and full of that traditional five-spice flavor. My entree (Tonkatsu Ramen) was outstanding, and the broth was beyond rich, unctuous, silky and satisfying. The "crispy pork" comes in the form of small cubes of fried meat, instead of my assumption of a fried, breaded pork cutlet normally associated with the description. My dining partner had a bowl of beef udon, and asked that they eliminate the bone marrow butter. The waiter did an excellent job of not arguing, but explaining why he may want to reconsider. After some thought my partner stuck with his decision, and I can only imagine how much more delicious the dish might have been with it. Our dessert, a mango "cheesecake" seemed more like an "assemblage" instead of a fully-crafted dish. It was still tasty--a creamy mango-cheesecake filling in a dish with whipped cream and coconut flakes on top. My fiancee lamented the lack of his favorite part of cheesecake--the crust! The staff was watchful, professional and genuine. The music and decor are a fresh departure from the status quo. So if you like ramen, you must go. If you don't, go anyway. The website still says that this place offers curbside. However, when I called, Ashley M was the girl who took my order- she made an annoyingly big deal about the fact that people are coming inside now to pick up their orders, and was initially unwilling to do curbside. If you just want people to come inside, take it off the front page of your website that you do curbside. My phone interaction with her was so unpleasant and annoying and it really ruined the entire experience. It wasn't until I told her I'm pregnant and high risk, that she finally said "um okay we can do curbside." Wow. Corona isn't just gone, guys. It also took calling 6 times to even get someone to answer. Very difficult and unpleasant ordering experience. As far as the food- the miso deviled eggs are the best thing this place has to offer. We've ordered from here a few times now as it's the only fun ramen place in the area. Fun as in the fun places that you find in more hip cities, like Nashville. Anyway- Don't get the edamame. $7 for a quarter to half the portion size you can get from any of the other Japanese restaurants in the area. Such a tiny portion, and the flavor is awful. Smoky and weird, no chili anything as the menu states. Avoid it and save your money. The tonkatsu broth is wonderful. The spicy miso broth is about average. Tastes like the spicy miso bullion cubes I can get from the Asian market. Nothing spectacular. The noodles are nothing special, at all, and that's supposed to be the other best part to the ramen, the broth and the noodles. Overall pretty disappointing every time we get food from here. Pretty high price points for the quantity and flavors that you get. I wanted to love it and each time I really want it to be the ramen experience that I desire, but it's just not there. Give it a try definitely if you want, the food and experience will speak for itself and you'll be left wondering what better food you could have gotten for that much money. Definitely won't be returning after such a big deal was made about the curbside thing. I don't care that other people walk in to pick up their orders, your website says you offer curbside, and I'm prioritizing my health and safety. read more

The best ramen can not be found at Red Light or Yokohama. It's at Tochi in West Bend and I'll go out of my way for it. Everything i have tried is delicious but my favorite is their signature, Tochi Ramen. Absolutely freakin delicious. Perfect every time and no need to add anything to the broth at your table to make it taste good ( hello..Yokohama). On a side note, my husband loves to order the Tochi Ramen with spicy miso...also wonderful but with a kick. The service is always great..such a friendly staff and on the ball. read more

We were here late on a Saturday night. Food was excellent. I'm not a huge ramen guy, but my meal here was solid and I hope to go back someday. It has a vibe of a restaurant that you'd see in New York City. The interior design was very well executed. I removed one star because the music was crazy loud, especially as we were towards the end of our meal. I love Tochi Ramen. This places has the best edamame around. I would says that their menu is wider then Ramen-San in downtown Chicago and I prefer their tonkotsu too. There drink menu is small but offers a nice selection in terms of diversity. I always like to bring guests here if I have the time. read more

Funkelicious is the one word that describes this place. I grew up in West Bend and moved away 35 years ago but get back to visit often. West Bend has grown conciderably in many aspects except food variation and places that offer the "unique niche" . Well, look no further. Tochi Ramen fits the bill with a funky urban / Asian vibe with an eclectic crowd and a unique menu that is not the norm. I am not a Ramen expert, but I'm pretty sure this is what it's supposed to be like. Maybe not totally traditional, but the spin they put on their dishes is amazing. We started with the steamed pork belly buns that were little angelic steamed buns with tender pork belly goodness and drizzled with a Asian BBQ sauce that was rich in flavor and offset by the cured pickle slices. Great starter!!! I ordered the Tochi pork ramen and the Mrs. ordered the seafood ramen in a spicy broth. Both were amazing and if I had to sum them up in just 3 words , I would say......Broth, Broth, Broth!!! The pork broth was rich and so damn good . The pork belly was great, but the kicker is the Crispy Pork chunks that have an entirely different flavor and texture. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the Miso deviled egg..............well, let me tell you. I concider myself a deviled egg aficionado and these were a surprise to my taste buds. Best deviled eggs on the planet!!! I plan on ordering a bunch next time. The seafood or shrimp ramen was fresh and again, the broth was amazing with a great strong seafood flavor without being "fishy" if that makes sense. Very spicy, but not blow yer head off hot. Great balance and again cooked to perfection. We got here at about 8:00 on a Saturday night and we were seated right away at a small table and our waitress (sorry I can't remember her name) was so pleasant and very knowledgable of the menu. Wish we had her at every restaurant we go to!!! To top it off, when we were heading out the door the owner signaled to us and gave us a nice Thank You. Will we be back........oh yeah!!! We're in town visiting friends and they brought us to Tochi. We enjoy some great Ramen in the Chicagoland area. This is as good if not better than some of those. The spam steamed buns have a crazy delicious sauce on them and the buns are so soft you are compelled to poke them before you eat them. The beef udon is smoky joy. The noodles have the best texture-soft with a satisfying chew. But my favorite was the Tochi ramen. The broth is so good you should baptise children in it. Rich, creamy, scrumptious. It's a small place and you'll wait a while for a table. But it's worth it. read more

My recent stop at Tochi was my introduction to Ramen. I consider myself a foodie, so I like expanding my palette. I've heard that the focus here is on the noodles, but I'd have to disagree and say that the noodles aren't what stood out to me, but rather the broth. I had the miso egg dish which was good, and also the pork buns were absolutely perfectly prepared, but personally could have gone without. The star of the show, to me, at Tochi is the broth of the ramen dishes. The grass-fed beef ramen dish was remarkable. Unlike anything I've ever had in my life - full of body, flavor, complex and complete. The shoyu broth was rounded off with bone marrow butter and pickled shiitake mushrooms. The bar this place set for Ramen is extremely high. I for one am an instant fan and will be back when in the West Bend area. Expanded hours would be great. read more

I still love me some Tochi Ramen. How can I tell? We drove the 40 miles up to West Bend last weekend and I would have gladly walked the last 10 miles in the freezing cold just for a hot bowl of that goodness. I believe this was the first time in my 40-some years on this earth that I have ever been to West Bend. I have been to Ireland 5 times, West Virginia 3 times, Austria 3 times, and Germany four times, but prior to last weekend, I have never been to West Bend. As others have noted, there have been a few changes to the menu, but nothing earth shattering, at least not to me. I am sad to see the Godzilla toy display gone, and I miss the mural of the Japanese guys in their white jumpsuits and hard hats, but the interior of the new location is really cool. I understand it is fitting with the new development along the river. In the Pantheon of Ramen within driving distance to Milwaukee, I place Tochi a solid second behind Red Light Ramen. Tochi is very good, but it's missing that certain "unctuousness" that only RLR can put in your bowl. At least I don't have to stay up until 11:30 to get a bowl at Tochi, I just have to drive 80 miles round trip. Absolutely worth it for those "pork cracklings" they add. I will say that their pork belly has improved over my last visits to the Shorewood location. It was getting way too fatty. I'm happy to see Tochi thriving in it's new(ish) West Bend location. One day I dream of their triumphant return to the 414. I know I am not alone. read more

I fell in love with Tochi when it was located in Shorewood, WI. When I found out it was moving to West Bend, I was heartbroken. Luckily I have family that lives in West Bend so I convinced everyone to get dinner there when I came to visit. I was slightly disappointed that the portion sizes were considerably smaller than they had been at the Shorewood location. The quality, however, is still unparalleled. The Tochi Ramen is my favorite dish. The pork belly is well seasoned, crispy pork is delicious, broth is hearty. And the miso deviled egg? Incredible. I always order an extra miso deviled egg, and I highly recommend ordering a side of the miso deviled egg every time you eat at this restaurant. Overall, the quality and taste of the food is still incredible and I highly highly recommend in spite of the portion size change. read more
