I went to Brostrom Physical Therapy and ran into a frustrating billing issue. Every appointment I'd…read morehad was always scheduled one-by-one. Then, two appointments showed up on my schedule that I never personally scheduled or agreed to -- and when I didn't show up, I was charged two $50 "no-show" fees. Just to be clear, this had happened previously with an appointment I missed legitimately, and I had no issue paying the fee. When I questioned it, the explanation was basically: once they put something on the schedule, it's considered confirmed unless you cancel, and reminder texts count as confirmation. I asked for proof that I actually scheduled those visits, but what I got back were policy copies and reminder screenshots with nothing showing that I ever agreed to those dates. They refused to waive the fees. So my takeaway for future patients: watch your schedule closely and get clear confirmation of what you've actually agreed to, because Brostrom WILL do whatever they can to extort you for those fees. And if you have a problem with it, they will let you know by sending you to collections over the no-show fee.

He never answered one doctor or nurse that called on my behalf. Nor did he return one call. In fact the hospital called after I was released from a nursing home because I broke my leg bones away from my ankle and broke the heel off. Dr Rojas tried to argue.. I haven't seen her in months. The ER doc explained why. Mind you this was after I left a DV marriage. I've been homeless trying to survive since. I've had my bank account compromised and had all of my information changed. I was refused my pain medication because I couldn't get the $40 out of the bank because I hadn't received the card when promised by chase. I explained all of the to Jackie at the desk. Then she spouted I owed 90 something dollars. When I ask for what because I'm disabled and the state covers everything. She replied "I don't know! You'll have to call your insurance company and find out". Then after she sees I'm completely frustrated she tells me I should leave. Such nice treatment for patients that have already been traumatized and are homeless. So much for the hypocritical oath.

I spent weeks reading up on my husbands condition and this doctor was the first of five who talked about everything i had read up on. In fact other doctors had no clue. Knowledge is power. They do not just guide me while I stretch and exercise - They are hands on in making sure I am getting the most out of my time spent in therapy. If I am not doing something properly Sue & Mary are quick to correct my form and point out which muscles I should be using etc... Plus, if I am running late- they are flexible and work me into their schedule. This is so appreciative & a big deal since I have had days when I move a bit slower than others. They are all so friendly & kind. Emerald greets you with a smile when you walk thru the door and they all say Hello! They really make you feel like more than a just a patient. I have recommended a friend to ATI as well and I will continue to do so. They truly have helped me heal mind, body, and soul. :)

Not because of a superior facility (mediocre), but because of their therapist. Good, knowledgable people that know when to push and when to draw back. Currently an all female staff, I was a little hesitant to put my trust in them. But 6 weeks after hip replacement surgery they had me back on the job climbing ladders, lifting 100+ lb objects, and rediscovering flexibility I haven't had in 10 years. The whole staff was great, especially the therapist Heather, Carol, and Melissa. The Techs Amanda :) and Emily. And the therapist I worked with the most, Kelly. She changed my routine almost every day. If you think she's not watching you, she is. And if something is getting too easy, she'll change it. Vice versa, if something isn't working, she'll change that too. Just don't show off too much or she'll push you until you look like a circus performer. This facility has a zero gravity treadmill, electrical stimulation, ultra sound, and therapeutic massage. But the people is what makes the difference.

My husband had back surgery in 2018 by a neurosurgeon here in Kalamazoo. That surgery needed to be…read moreredone within 2 months. Being naive about back surgeries we thought my husband was getting the best care he could. After the 2nd surgery failed miserably a friend suggested that we see Dr. Nicholas Shroeder at OSOC. Within minutes of meeting with us he explained clearly why the first two surgeries had failed. By this point my husband is in constant pain and can no longer stand up straight. Dr. Shroeder explained what he felt the best course of action was going to be for Tom's situation. Dr. Shroeder had the new pieces needed for Tom's back made specifically for him in France. The previous neurosurgeon had just grabbed any rods and screws within reach. That was what kept Tom from standing upright. The picture on the right shows the neurosurgeon placed straight rods in his back. Losing the natural curve is what kept him from ever standing straight and in excruciating pain. The picture on the left is what was needed to give Tom the ability to walk and have a good quality of life again. This shows the difference between an excellent surgeon and one who should never be allowed to practice medicine again. The day of the surgery was a very long one. Dr Shroeder performed the 14 hour surgery to correct the neurosurgeon's mess. He actually had to rebuild Tom's back vertebrae by vertebrae. There were a few appointments before the surgery and a few during the next year. It is a 3 hour drive each way for appointments/surgery. Both my husband and I feel that the drive back and forth saved his life. I do not say that lightly. It's been 6 years since his surgery at OSOC and we are so grateful to Dr. Shroeder and his wonderful staff, especially Liz. Their knowledge, patience, compassion and kindness is so appreciated.
