I've been eating here with my wife and daughter for 4 years and have ordered the beef shawarma and Hallumi cheese every single time, and every single time we have never been disappointed. The beef is flavorful and fresh, the hummus is seasoned, and the fried potatoes are always PERFECT. My wife and I have almost asked the cook how he manages to get the potatoes so consistently golden and crispy. The waitresses have always been nice and attentive. The decorations on the interior made us laugh the first time we saw it, but the music is quiet unlike every other restaurant that feels the need to assault your ears with music so that you can't hear yourself think. I have no idea what the bad reviews of this place are talking about with unflavorful food or bad wait times. We have never waited more than 20 minutes for our entree. read more

I love this place. Every time I've been with my fiance, the service has been great. The food is so flavorful and delicious. I love the kibbie, falafel, the spanakopita is incredible, their lentil soup is amazing, I love every kebab option they have: lamb, chicken, but the beef is the best. The hummus, cabbage salad, garlic sauce, and tzatziki are all so good. Their pita is served warm and the fried pita that comes with the soup is so tasty. The chicken and beef shawarma are good (especially the beef), but it's not shaved. I kinda get it though because when it's shaved, it's so easy to dry out - it seems like the kind of food you can really only serve if it's really busy. My only issue is their rice is always over-cooked, but it's honestly such a small issue imo. Their Lebanese iced tea and Turkish coffee are delicious. I love their baklava. I can't remember what their other dessert is called, but it's described as a "cheese cake" and it's definitely NOT a standard cheesecake. I don't recommend it lol. Overall, this place is great. First time trying this restaurant and I fell in love with the owner and his daughter. We were treated like family immediately! Then to get to the food....it was to die for!! Everything was home made and not Costco reheat that I have experienced in other establishments. My favorite was the cotton candy dessert but the falafel was yummy.The grape leaves were so good we ordered a second round and plates of shawarma were cleaned. Every time I pass through Lake Charles I make it a priority to come visit my favorite restaurant. The staff is super friendly and the owner (Jamal) is very welcoming. Toga Grill serves the best Lebanese/Greek food bar none. Look up that phrase kiddos. The cabbage rolls are dynamite. The beef is cooked to perfection, while the rice is soft and fluffy. Then it's tightly wrapped and topped with some fresh lemon juice. I'm salivating just thinking about them. It pairs perfectly with some tzatziki. My favorite two dishes are the jalapeño stuffed kibbie and the gyro. The kibbie is nice and crispy. You get some heat from the jalapeño. Then add in the combination of meat and onions. It's out of this world! The gyro is thick, juicy, and roasted perfectly, plus you get a side of potatoes and hummus. Expert advice: ask for a side of garlic sauce for your potatoes. You'll regret it if you don't listen to me. If you are passing through, y'all need to stop in for some amazing cuisine. read more

Pretty good Mediterranean food spot in Lake Charles! The staff was very attentive and the portions were really good. We started with grape leaves. They were good but would rate it 3.5/5. I am used to having vegetarian grape leaves and think they taste better this way. I also wish there was more acidity. I had the gyro plate and the gyro meat was really good. Rice medley seemed to have lentils or something similar in it, also just passable. The Lebanese iced tea was decent. But to repeat - that chicken seemed boiled and poorly seasoned. Pretty good find in the lake Charles area. Coming from New York City where Greek and Lebanese food is plentiful, I was pleasantly surprised to find how flavorful the dishes were. Of course being in the south, portions are huge which was a plus! To start we ordered the baba ghanoush to share which had a nice smokey flavor. Because it was lunch hour, my boyfriend and I each ordered a plate from their lunch menu. I had the chicken shawarma and he had the combo platter. Both delicious! And their hummus on point! Wow! We just had takeout from Toga Grill and the food is fabulous! It's so flavorful and filling. We had the gyro platter and falafel platter. It was so much food. We also tried the lentil soup and the moussaka soup. I was scared at first because of the amount of garlic in the moussaka soup but it was heavenly. I'm not a fan of cabbage slaw but the slaw on the platters is made without a cream Mayo sauce so it was a nice change with a tang to it. I will definitely go again and hopefully I can eat in to enjoy the nice atmosphere they have. read more

What a cute little place. Order at the counter and take your seat. However it was beautifully decorated. I had my traditional Greek stand-by of a Greek style feta cheese salad. This is my second time here and this place sucks, usually I don't leave bad reviews but my boyfriend and I spent $40 here and the food was absolutely terrible. First off I called and placed an order for pick up at 8:40 and then my boyfriend gets there and my order wasn't even put in. I thought maybe I dialed the wrong number so we checked and it was the right place. He reordered and they made the order for us but if I knew what I was going to receive I would have left the food there. He ordered the lamb chops and I ordered the chicken Shawarma. Pita bread, Chicken and potatoes were dry, rice was soggy and clumped together and on top of that instead of getting tzatziki sauce I got a fucking cup of mayonnaise... like are you serious? Ordered 4 meals from this restaurant from Waitr. Took 2 hours to get it. Worst food we have ever eaten. Of 4 meals, the only thing edible was the hummus, everything else was horribly bitter, overcooked, dry and inedible. With the hummus and meals we were only given two small triangles of pita bread. Good thing I had some red beans in the fridge. Trying to support local restaurants, but not if they are going to give us inedible food that takes 2 hours. Oh, and Waitr didn't even text us back, so we had to pay for this "food." Their sweet tea is very unique, and when I decided to give it a go, the man behind the counter told me I was more than welcome to grab a different drink if I didn't like the tea. While working in the area I came across this place so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Gyro sandwich which also came with hummus and fried potato cubes. I wasn't expecting much but this sandwich was really good with a nice surprise. Instead of the standard Tzatziki Sauce it came with a garlicky flavored sauce.The potatoes were done just right and the hummus was delicious. Yes you do have to wait, but it seems that most orders are pick-up or to-go. So naturally you'll have to wait, my wait was about 15 to 20 minutes. As we all know this isn't fast food so if that is what you want go hit one of the franchises that serves it. Otherwise have some patience. Toga grill has destroyed Kibbi. Their Kibbi was never the best, but it was passable. Now they've added cheese to the center meat filling. It was unexpected and gross. The pita bread, I guess it was Pita , that came with the Humus was fluffy and tasted of yeast. It was well paired with the revolting Kibbi. Toga hasn't my been good in years. The owner is a transplant from the middle east, I think Lebanon?, So that is probably what makes the food so deliciously authentic.
