I eat here more than any other restaurant in Lafayette... or anywhere, probably. We dine in and we do takeout. The service is always pleasant and this is a casual dining experience. I have eaten here more than 20 times and have never had an issue with the food - including raw sushi, which I eat regularly. My favorite things to order are the steak hibachi lunch special and then any sushi on the menu, honestly. They get very busy at peak meal times some days so expect to wait for your food for a while if that's the case. My takeout experience is always flawless - I call and make my order, they give me an estimate on pickup time and I show up and pay. Easy and efficient. The worst service I have ever experienced! Employees failed to seat us when we were there for dine in. Food was very pricey to be such poor quality, sushi tasted as if had been left out for a day. The food we got was put in to go boxes mind you this was at 4:00pm no where close to closing hours and at the time there was only 4 people dining in. Not bad for a small town. Sushi bar. Service was very friendly and efficient. We had a spider roll and a rainbow roll. The spider roll was very nice, slightly mushy, but overall tasted really nice. The rainbow roll was also very nice. It came in five pieces about the size of a California roll. The seaweed salad was a bit dry but standard fare. Overall, we would recommend it if you're in the middle of nowhere and are hungry and want something above average. As a sidenote, this place is pretty popular with the local gentry. read more

It's not often that you find a sushi place in a small town. Toki is great. I love their hibachi and I am branching out to different kinds of sushi. I used to only eat California Rolls. The bagel roll has quickly become my favorite and the Fancy roll I tried tonight was superb (caution when they say spicy, it's spicy)! I love this place and the service. I really enjoyed the service at this LaFayette sushi restaurant. However, the sushi rice was warm and I didn't enjoy the contrast between the warm rice on my nigiri sushi and the cold fish. Please don't misunderstand, the sushi rolls are really good, but this restaurant has some room for improvement in terms of their nigiri sushi. I enjoyed my meal though, other than that. EAT WITH CAUTION. I am a sushi eater. I am Japanese. I know my fish- especially the raw kind. Tonight's experience pushed me past my limit of acceptance. I've eaten at Toki multiple times and haven't ever been truly thrilled with the experience, but when you live in a tiny town and don't want to drive 20-30 minutes to another sushi/hibachi place, it will do. I have my expectations set at a very reasonable level, but the tables are filmy, the rice is less than satisfactory, the chicken is allllwwwaysss over cooked. Tonight I ordered the Sushi and Sashimi combo ($27.99). What they brought out should have never been put on a plate. They should have been embarrassed. The fish was old. It was inedible. Fish that is fresh doesn't taste fishy. It isn't oily. It isn't discolored. Tonight's fish was all of that and more. After bringing it to the servers attention, she argued with me and told me "it was just opened today" and would only give a 20% discount on my entree. People will eat here because we lack options in our town, but it's a shame that Toki is taking advantage of people because of that. read more

Y'all. I miss this place so much! I have moved out of town and there is no where like Toki! Good sushi rolls for a low price plus hibachi and other choices for those who don't eat sushi. My wife and I absolutely love this place, their sushi is amazing and we are very frequent regulars.

We have been here at least 8 times since they opened. We've never really been disappointed. Between my husband and I, we've tried at least 6 different types of sushi, and it's all been amazing. We also have enjoyed the steak, shrimp, vegetable and chicken hibachi. The food has always been fantastic. It is a little more expensive than the other local restaurants, but not surprising for this type of food. It's actually much cheaper than going to Kobe, the next closest hibachi restaurant. Only suggestion would be actually cooking the hibachi on a grill in front of customers, as many of us enjoy that! read more

My interest was piqued at the idea of my hometown having a restaurant that served fresh sushi made in-house. I'm no connoisseur, but I like a good roll here and there. The prices here are comparable to the next closest hibachi restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe, Kobe, which I've never been to, but I compared menus online before deciding whether or not I wanted to make the drive. When we walked into the building we were *sort of* greeted. The young man attending to us was nice? Honestly, it's not like he went out of his way to do anything more than take our orders and refill our drinks once, so I guess he was nice? But honestly, I don't really have an opinion on that. I ordered the Sushi Deluxe dinner, which is 8 California Roll pieces and 8 pieces Nigiri (a mix apparently). It came with a miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. Typical hibachi affair. The person I was with ordered the steak hibachi dinner with fried rice (there's an upcharge) and received the same. The salad was typical. Nothing to write home about. It seemed a bit saturated with the dressing, but I love the stuff, so I wasn't too offended. The soup was a bit bland as if it had been sitting in a vat for several hours? Maybe? It was fine overall. But the fried rice. Oh man. The fried rice must've been old. And there was most assuredly black pepper in it...which I didn't think was typical, but perhaps that's their thing. It was stale, and only edible if you poured the yum yum sauce into it. The steak was rubbery, but edible. The flavor was good. I didn't taste their hibachi veggies, so no verdict there...but they sure didn't eat them. My California rolls were exactly fine. They weren't well rolled and were falling apart...as was the nigiri. The rice wasn't as sticky as it should've been. I was sad to see the old murals painted over inside. The coloring is a bit dreary, especially with the addition of the fluorescent lights...a little abmiant lighting in there could go a long way to making it feel less stark and old. Overall, I don't think this place is worth taking your family to, but it could potentially be an alright place to pick up an order for an odd or end that you've got a craving for...it won't be satisfying, but it'll maybe numb the itch. read more

Very good food! I am just confused as to why on the menu it says some of the Sushi rolls are listed under, cooked and some are listed under raw! I always ordered under the cooked list which lists the Philly rolls so I am thinking they are cooked. One day I decided to call in a pick up order and when I asked for the cooked Philly Sushi rolls I was told that all of them were raw. Don't understand that. I used to love this place when it first opened. The service was great and the food was always fresh. We had one server we ALWAYS sat with, but since she has been gone our visits haven't been as good. The food isn't as good some nights and unless you sit with the other tall girl (I'm bad at names) then you will leave very disappointed.
