I hear that on Saturdays this place is Baby Central. :) But you can still find business guys and glamorous people here as well. But oh my god, the food! The steak was delicious, and thick, and juicy. I have never had a steak that is so thick but was still so easy to cut, and I used to live in Chicago, which tends to have the best steaks in America. The steak fries were also delicious and salty and crispy. Even the vegetables were good. It took me a while to finish everything, but I didn't want to let any of it go to waste. I wanted it in mah belly! They had an interesting drink and wine menu that I never got to try, but I'd like to the next time I come here. I highly recommend coming by to NAP. :)

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

(It was packed and we arrived 20 minutes early for our table) We ordered oysters, lobster, seabass (whole), scallops, green salad, bread, and at the end, french coffee. But, being American, we probably should've known better and researched before we ordered. The creme brûlée was also very enjoyable! (Side note: all the creme brûlées I had in Europe were pre-made and not hot when they came out. Europe tingz?) The first place we walked by was KOH but it looked like a tiny little delivery place so we kept on walking. On our way back we popped our heads into KOH and that's when the wonderful smell of the food hit us so we popped in, sat down and ordered. The food was wonderful, it's a small loud bustling place that seems to do mostly deliveries, tables were tiny with uncomfortable stools but the food really shined! We were offered shrimp crackers when we sat and started with fish cakes that came with a yummy chili sauce. I had the yellow curry with chicken and it was extremely tasty, the flavors were on point and the chicken was cooked beautifully. A few bottles of Thai beer to go with the food made for a wonderful experience. Would definitely eat here again. Maybe not a fine dining atmosphere but the food was exceptional! I was only going to give four stars based on the noise and small cluttered dining area, based purely on the food it was a five star meal.

The owner then said: hey, then just order a pizza dude!! (Wtffff) this response and his behavior. Not professional, no excuse to us..but angry and didnt care at all! We almost missed the boat that leaves the dock at 6:30pm because we took an Uber and didn't realize it was during rush hour. NOTE: take public transportation to get here! The tram is easy! When we got on the boat we were welcomed with apple cider and a cheese/meat board. We then took the 45-60 minute journey to the island where we would be eating dinner. The weather wasn't the best (rain/cold) but that didn't ruin our experience at all! We got on the island and were shown into the bunker.. SO COOL! We then started our 5 course dining experience and we ended up going with the wine pairing as well. They allow you to walk the grounds, but because of the weather we didn't get a chance to do that. They also have a wine cellar which is pretty cool. After the meal, we went back on the boat for some cookies and coffee. Overall, I highly recommend this experience, especially if you are into food! It is such a fun dining experience, so unique! I think the one during the summer is WAY better just because of the weather and you get to eat in a greenhouse with the views.
