And I did like the fact that the food was cooked to order so it was very fresh. I did not visit the restroom so I can't speak to the status of the cleanliness. The soda fountain could have been a little cleaner. Everything was very sticky, and the tray was overflowing. The tables and around the tables were clean.. The hush puppies, biscuits, and the macaroni and cheese were the best I've ever had from a fast food restaurant. As for the chicken, it smelled amazing. Unfortunately, from my taste, I found it very salty and greasy. The chicken was well flavored, but it was just way too salty for me I also tried their banana pudding and unfortunately, once again, at least from my taste, it was lacking the right flavors. I did try their honey butter chicken biscuit sandwich I found that to be delicious So for that alone, it's totally worth a trip. I did forget to take a picture of banana pudding and the honey butter biscuit sandwich

I visited Southern Style Chicken & Waffles in Fredericksburg with my father and granddaughter. The…read morerestaurant is on ground level, but the front door is heavy, which could be difficult for anyone using a wheelchair, walker, or cane. The same can be said for the bathroom door. However, it is very clean and well‑stocked. No baby changing table. The counter is right in the front as you walk in. We arrived around 4:30 PM, the place was empty, but by the time we left at 6:05 PM, four or five customers had come in, all ordering takeout. Two employees were working. Both were friendly and smiling, but service is strictly counter‑based. Restaurant seating is limited, 10 tables total. Drinks are refrigerated bottles and cans; there's no fountain drinks, cups, or ice. I personally found this very strange. The food is the highlight of Southern Style Chicken & Waffles . The chicken is served piping hot, and the fries are perfectly crispy. One important note: you can't order mixed chicken. It's either white meat or dark meat, so I had to order both platters and my father and I switched chicken around to get what we wanted. Meals come with one side, and extras are $4.99 each. Chicken orders start at three pieces, no smaller portions available. As for sides, the mac & cheese wasn't my favorite, though other's , including the guy, selling it, seemed to think it was great. My dad found the coleslaw just "so‑so" and said he would not order it again. Ratings: * Chicken: A+ * French fries: A+ * Mac & cheese: B‑ * Coleslaw: C+ Overall, the chicken and fries are excellent, and I plan to return to try their catfish, whiting and waffles, which I've heard are all very good. I gave it a four because of the lack of ice and cups and also due to the difficulty getting into the Restaraunt and the bathroom for those with mobility issues.

The food is well cooked and served hot. I wished I could have tried a lot more of the menu... but it was a quick stop on the way home from a beach vacation. For such a small restaurant... there are a lot of seats and looks to be able to even host a large party of 15-20 on a long bench. The Gus burger was hearty, beef patty was thick and delicious... the fries are interesting... like a hybrid between a fry and potato chip. The onion rings are large and seem to have a funnel cake coating! Crispy and well fried. The French toast is thick and fluffy and the bread density is amazing! My daughter also enjoyed the bagel and cream cheese... The BLT is filled with beautiful pieces of ham and turkey... it's so hearty! Growing up in a h hospitality hom, i can easily say the quality is there. Everything is made from scratch. Our server was so sweet and kind. Helpful with the choices & decisions at crunch time. I got the beer battered fish (for 18, I would have liked 2 pieces of fish) bbu t the entire fillet was crispy and i had to let out cool down when th get brought it out. My boyfriend had the Shepards pie. (He is never very responsive with food but he raved about this to the point that we asked to talk to the kitchen.) It was hearty and flavorful. Really yummy beef gravy on top. l love Brussel sprouts and these had sweet Thai chili sauce and bacon bits (a house made recipe). I could have made that my entire meal. The brownie sundae was super moist as well. During the meal, it was a really good portion amount (at first I thought it was small) but it was spot on. If there was a downside I'd say the alcohol was a little more expensive then I would have expected, but that would be about it. I definitly feel like we've found a hidden gem. If you want high quality Irish comfort food. This is definitly the best one I've ever found. I wish I had taken more pictures but it was so good, by the time we thought about posting this review,, we had eaten most of it already.

But that's because everything's made to order, which really shows in the quality and taste. Off street parking is ample. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with counter service. The menu has a variety of heat options available for their chicken, from "country" (no heat) to mild (a touch of heat), medium (a slap of heat), hot (feel the burn), to burn baby burn (the hottest level). My adult sons, and my son's girlfriend were in town, so there were 5 of us. My oldest son ordered the 4 piece tenders (mild), with fries and a drink, my youngest son ordered a chicken sandwich combo mild, his girlfriend ordered macaroni and cheese and fries, my husband ordered the 4 piece tenders (no heat), and I ordered the 3 piece tenders (no heat), then we split the Joey Eat Fries, which are Boneless breast, Crimson sauce, slaw, pickles, and cheese, over a bed of Crimson fries. We ordered those with our chicken mild. I'm so happy we didn't order beyond mild, because I can't take too much heat, and the mild was too spicy for me, but perfectly spicy for my husband. For those that like very spicy, you will love the heat, it packs a punch! The tenders with no heat, still were amazing! Everyone in our group were highly satisfied with the size of the chicken tenders/sandwich, and were impressed with how juicy and fresh they were, without the greasy texture. My husband is picky about his chicken tenders, and said that these were by far his new favorites in the area. My son's girlfriend said that her Mac and cheese was great, and the fries were good too. But the Joey Eat Fries were fantastic! Sooo good and more than enough for two people to enjoy; massive, and a meal of their own. The only thing that left something to be desired, was the bread. Would have been better toasted with butter, and perhaps a toasted garlic bread option. Prices were comparable to other similar establishments. We were impressed with the friendly service, speed and delivery of the food, and the quality of the meals. Their grand opening is Monday, April 1st, make sure to check them out!
