Stopped into this Japanese vibe restaurant for Sushi and Hibachi. This is a buffet with some of the traditional prepared foods along with a Hibachi bar to choose your meat and fixings similar to a Mongolian stir fry. They grill it up with your choice of noodles and or fried rice and serve it direct to your table. In addition there was a wide selection of sushi rolls, rice wrapped and fried. With a variety of California style rolls, fish, shrimp,squid and others. The Sashimi also had quite a selection tuna, salmon, squid, seaweed salad and more. Cool Concept, but they definitely need to improve things. We were visiting from out of state and the kiddos couldn't agree on anything for dinner and as we drove by this location they both seemed interested so we gave it a shot. Similar concept to a mongolian grill but WAY less organized with a nice addition of a small traditional(ish) buffet included. The bowl you start with is comically small, which I imagine is intentional to deter folks from wasting but also to provide time in between to limit how many times people actually go up to get the Hibachi style food. We would have prefered just getting their buffet style food as it tasted better and we didnt have to wait. Somehow, BOTH of our girls didnt get their Hibachi/mongolian style plates they made up and we had to ask for new bowls so they could make their bowls again. It was very confusing and the customer service was pretty bad in that regard. Everyone seemed to like the food but it was just ok. Don't waste your money here. Gave the place a second chance but there's not much you can do other than a full revamp. Food: 3/10 rating. Everything was deep fried. Why is everything deep fried? Ok, I may be slightly exaggerating and not everything is deep fried but I would say roughly 90% of the dishes are. Not good. This place needs some variety. Some greens even. Sushi: 1/10 rating. Once again, more than half of the sushi is deep fried. What's up with this place and frying everything? Additionally, a good chunk of their sushi selection had cheese. Now, if you were to find a roll you liked, I wouldn't recommend even eating it. That sushi looked like it's been sitting out for a couple hours. I stuck to the sashimi. Salmon was the only edible item. I ate about 10 saucer trays and noticed they stop putting any more out. Deserts: 3/10 rating. You're probably wondering how they mess up desserts if everything is just preordered. Well many of the desserts have been sitting out way too long much like the sushi. When I thought it couldn't get worse, I try the ice cream. Tried a vanilla and a chocolate cup. They somehow failed storing ice cream cause it was not solid. Ice cream had the consistency of sour cream and the chocolate tasted sour. Ambiance: 1/10 rating. You want to play janky covers of songs? Fine. You want to have a bunch of nonfunctional bubble fountains? Fine. But the guy should not be screaming the entire time. Why the F am I able to hear you at the sushi area from my table? They're not dogs. You don't need to be shouting commands at them. Service: 5/10 rating. Can't say I expect much from servers. You're collecting the finished plates and refilling drinks then that's a 10/10. Unfortunately our server forgot one and never once refilled our water. The other Tokyo Hibachi Buffets found in Beavercreek and Kettering are better. This particular one is definitely a pass. read more

Great food, wow. Please come when you're very hungry so you can try everything. The hibachi was lovely aswell. Really such a big variety of sushi. The service needs to be worked on a little bit though. We had 3 servers, I also wish I got a run down of how the hibachi worked. My friend had been there before but I had mentioned it's my first time. They also didn't know everything so I wish it was explained at least once. I wanted some eggs on mine but I didn't know where. After checking out this restaurant once (my first Yelp review), I scheduled it for a group of 8 people, as part of a monthly supper club I coordinate. This time it felt like a totally different restaurant than my first foray, perhaps because we were there on a busy Friday night, but also perhaps because I heard it changed ownership in the past few weeks. Unlike the first time, when we were seated right away, they made all 9 of us wait in the barely-cooler-than-the-humid-outdoors lobby for 30 minutes for our table (I made reservations 2 weeks in advance, and usually restaurants have that large a table already set up and let us be seated early as people from our group arrive). The big beautiful ceramic bowls I received the first time were replaced with smaller metal bowls, the fried items weren't labelled this time and one of the soups was mislabeled (it said chicken soup but was really a warm tapioca soup). The wait staff was inconsistent, only gave instructions to half the table and didn't speak loud or clear enough for most of us to hear -- though as the meal progressed, they worked very hard to get all our selections out to us. Though near they end, they just dumped the receipts on the end of the table -- with people's credit cards in them -- for us to sort out whose was whose. It was much too noisy for us to have a lot of conversation. It was a hectic night, with crowds that seemed to come in waves. But despite the issues, the food was as as varied, fresh, and tasty as I remembered. It was cooked on the spot in small batches, & was innovative, creative, and delicious. My favorites this time were the chicken skewers, the hibachi bowl, the brownie bites and that sweet tapioca soup. There was such a wide variety of choices that each of our 9 trays looked completely different!! Everyone did enjoy the great variety, all of the sushi and sashimi options, and the fresh healthy food of good quality. I'll probably not schedule this restaurant for this group again, as we prefer a quieter place where we're treated with better customer service. But I'll be back myself at a less busy time, as the food and quality are worth making this part of my dining repertoire. read more

Food, Service and ambiance were great. An overall great experience. Everything we tried here was wonderful. We each had a habachi bowl that we got to choose all the ingredients, which were then cooked to perfection. Along with a lot of buffet choices and some of the best sushi I have had outside of LA or NYC. Cost for two adults and a six year old boy? Under $55! Visiting from Oklahoma and gave it a try. Mixed review. The hibachi was average or slightly below. Seems like it could have been cooked more or seasoned with teriyaki more. The sushi selection was large and overall maybe a little more than what you expect for a sushi buffet. All the pieces I tried were decently good. The side items were plentiful as well and mostly good. My wife felt the miso soup was watery. For the price it was a little disappointing on quality but it made up for it on selection. I think the Tokyo Grill and Sushi Buffet in Mason has taken my #1 spot for best Asian Buffet. The first time I came here (a couple months ago), I had a bit of an interesting start. We arrived at 11am hungry and craving a buffet, however, the building wasn't open. We waited in the car and after a while called the place to ask if it was open. The lady on the phone said they're still getting the food ready but that we could sit in the restaurant and wait. Upon walking in, she was apologetic and gave us our drinks. It took another 15 minutes for the food to be ready, but the entire time her and the staff were very nice. They have a hibachi section, buffet section of sushi, some pots of soup, fried appetizers, and plenty of dessert options. The way they portion the food in little baskets and plates I found to be really cute and convenient. The food was nice and hot, flavorful, and eye candy from the moment I saw it. The dessert was slightly sweet and was light on the stomach compared to other buffet foods. I'm so glad we stayed and waited because now this is my designated sushi buffet, lol. The place is clean, the atmosphere feels light and as if I was in a relative's house for dinner, and the food was great. Highly recommend this place! read more

Saw all the posting on the place in FB and decided to try this place out. We came here for lunch and they had a good crowd eating lunch. I love sushi and my wife does not so it's a great place for non sushi eaters. They have hibachi and others fried foods that one may like including fried chicken strips or wings. You get a tray to put all your food in and you will see in the pictures they use small metal baskets for their fried foods The sushi selection was incredible and they have sides like edamame and daikon radish. Service was great where they will take the tray and dishes off the table and there were good on refills. Hard to believe it was once a Ruby Tuesday as they really redecorated the inside including a water display. I will be going back to get my sushi fix but this allows you to get small portions of different rolls. read more

We recently dined here for dinner after a day at King's Island. I'm usually pretty skeptical of Asian buffets in the US, especially when it's a sushi buffet, but their glowing Yelp and Google reviews convinced us to give them a try. And it was AMAZING. First of all, it's very important to note that everything here is cooked fresh and generally individually plated. The biggest downside of buffets is the large pre-cooked batches of food of unknown freshness sitting on heated trays, so Tokyo Grill solves that problem. Their food selections are largely divided into 4 sections. First is their "hibachi" station where you pick your veggies, meat/seafood, and starch (rice, noodles, etc) and they'll stir-fry them for you. This is basically what you get at a Mongolian BBQ. Second is their cooked Asian foods section, which largely is Chinese options like General Tso's chicken, Sesame chicken, pan fried dumplings. The soy grilled scallops, salt fried prawns, and stuffed shrimp were incredible. I would usually pay a premium to get these at sit down Chinese restaurants, so having those available at a buffet is a dream come true! They also had Japanese takoyaki, except it was labelled as having squid instead of octopus inside. No problem thought, it was also delicious and honestly better than the takoyaki served at a majority of "Japanese" restaurants in Ohio. Third is their sushi station, where they have a wide variety of premium rolls, a small selection of nigiri, and plated sashimi. Their wasabi was neon green and a bit suspect at first, but it tasted like regular store bought wasabi to my relief. The sushi rice was prepared well-- dare I say, better than most pre-packaged sushi at Asian grocery stores. And lastly, they have a dessert station with cakes, flan, and a large freezer chest full of ice cream, ice cream sandwich, and fruit popsicle sticks. I have 3 kids who all can be picky, and a wife who can be suspicious of Asian buffets. But they all agree with me that this is the best Asian buffet we've been to in the US. Did our family Thanksgiving here. It was our first visit and the staff were so sweet. The concept is different than most buffets in that the portions are neatly dishes out on small plates or bowls. It cuts way down on waste and helps keep the serving area very clean. The variety of sushi and sashimi was unlike any I've found in the area. Everyone in our little group of six found something they raved about. From my observation, tables were always quickly cleared and cleaned up, making a very nice atmosphere. The music was a fun mix of 80s pop. At the end of the meal, the owner came out to see how we felt about the restaurant and concept. This tells me their directly invested in seeing this delightful business succeed. While we're not regular buffet patrons, we typically go on holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. Love, love, love this place! It just opened recently and you see Kings Island as you get out in the parking lot. My girlfriend and I came here for lunch. Lunch is about 10 cheaper than dinner, I did not ask what was added at dinner but I will know soon as we are going back to try the dinner menu. This is set up buffet style, pre-covid buffet style YAY. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant and were shown to a table. She asked if we had been in before and when we said we had not she said she would tell us how it works. As you cross into the buffet area on the left there are veggies and meats to add to a large bowl and at the end of that first line you hand it to a cook who cooks it up for you. They bring it back to the table when they are done. Then you grab a school type tray and a plate and go through the rest of the buffet line. There is fried food first in individual dishes, then veggies in individual bowls and fruit. After that there was the sushi rolls, we did not try one of these we did not like. There were two cases that contained individual portions of desserts. YUM. This is a real bang for your buck kind of place, lunch was 22 bucks plus the drink and tip. You eat until you are done :) Like I said in the beginning of my review we are headed back again on the 15th with some friends to try the dinner option. I love how we can pick and choose what kind of veggies and proteins we can choose for our hibachi. They have a variety of sorted desserts and ice creams. I highly recommend this restaurant that is where Ruby Tuesday's used to be right off Kings Mills in Mason. I'm telling all my friends about it and I will become a regular. Great concept. Pick you base and fill a bowl full of yummy ingredients for the staff to cook hibachi style. This is what you get in addition to the vast buffet which is elevated Asian. Tar tar, salmon, any kind of sushi you can name! The space is not quaint it's vast with lots of tables and booths. Definitely kid friendly. Unfortunately the service could have been better. We went on Christmas evening and it was pretty crowded but not full with a wait. It was our first time and the staffed that seated us did not offer us an explanation or share in detail the process of ordering, etc. As we were eating our meal a woman asked if we could move to another table because she needed the one we were sitting at for another party. I had not finished my Ichiban and my sweetie hadn't finished his Sapporo! We thought...why can't the incoming party wait for us to finish? Why don't they have a chart to avoid these mishaps. Not sure why these fools felt comfortable asking us to move. How rude! We got up and instead of moving we paid and left. I hope they improve the service and communication skills of the staff.
