As far as flavor and composition of the dishes go, this is the best Japanese cuisine in Findlay (which, I know, doesn't necessarily mean a lot but it's still the best in the area). I go often and I will continue to patronize this establishment. The staff works hard and are great at what they do. We're always met with great service from knowledgeable and helpful staff. My only complaint would be that we're never greeted or checked on by management. I think I know who's "in charge" but never actively see that person taking the lead in front of guests or helping busy servers/bussers/sushi chefs when they clearly could use some help to provide the best service possible. It's also quite obvious they don't hold high standards for the cleanliness of the seating areas. The sushi chefs care enough to keep their station clean but the table tops are sometimes sticky and unkempt. There are definitely areas where management is falling short. I won't let that take away from the 5 star rating that the staff and chefs deserve. I hope to see them continue to get better. read more

Food is good but a bit pricey Tonkatsu Dinner Bento will run you around $28. Which is about $10 too high. Staff is friendly and attentive. I wish they would not have eliminated the Japanese menu. We will be back but please consider some of the prices. read more

I made a reservation for 11 people for my daughter's birthday. We arrived about 15 minutes early so we could set up gifts and the cake. We were told by the hostess that we couldn't be seated until everyone arrived. When we asked why, she told us that it's because if another party comes in and needs our table, they will seat them first. So it appears there was no benefit to making a reservation if our table was going to be given away. I have been here before but was disappointed with the hibachi chef's performance, if you will. He didn't do the standard tricks that my daughter was looking forward to, like the choo choo train or tossing food in the guest's mouths. Food and service was horrible. Steak tasted bad, as in rotten, and shrimp was fishy, none of us could even eat it. Food was started at the same time the soup and salad came out. I can see why we were the only ones in this restaurant at lunch time. It was terrible, and that's an understatement. Terrible service, terrible food, and the place was disgusting. The first thing I noticed when I sat down was the disgusting grime in between the table and the hibachi flat top. There was crusted food in there, and looked like it hadn't been wiped in years. We got the hibachi, 8 of us, and no one was very impressed. I've had a ton of hibachi meals, and this was, by far, the worst. The chef had good tricks, but I don't even care about that. After you've seen it once, it loses its allure. My filet mignon was supposed to be cooked rare, but was cold in the center. The rice and noodles were bland with those silly little peas in the rice. It tasted like sandpaper. The service was slow. How, do you ask? We were the only ones in there for the first half of the 2 hour meal. What was everyone doing? Standing around BSing. Not sure why anyone would go here. It shows how bad they are with the amount of people patronizing the place. This young lady was super pleasant and genuinely enjoyed her job. She was the one bartender for the entire restaurant. Not only that she was serving 7 tables and a hibachi table. I had the oddest dining experience here today. I went for lunch with a party of 5. We were seated at a table for 4. I couldn't even pull out my chair because it was right up against the chair of the lady at the next table over. I proceeded to move the table a foot in the opposite direction, with the help of my sisters, not the restaurant staff, so that I could have enough room to sit down. I said to the waitress, "wow it's tight quarters in here!" She replied, "yeah, tell me about it." After sitting down and laughing about how closet we were all sitting together, we waited a LONG time for our waitress to come to our table. I would estimate we didn't have our drink orders taken for a solid 15 minutes. When our waitress did come to our table her face was red and her eyes were puffy and tearful. She had clearly been crying. She said, "I'm sorry about the long wait. It's been a really hard morning." We told her that everything was okay and proceeded to order. 3 of us ordered miso soup and the waitress said to us, "Oh I think that soup smells funny." We all kind of made a weird face at that comment to which she replied, "I'm a really picky eater." About 30 minutes after ordering, the waitress brought out the miso soup. She was carrying it with her hands above each of the bowls, which is just NOT how you carry someone else's food. Aside from that, we ordered 3 soups but she only brought out 2. We didn't even bother asking for the 3rd soup because the 2 we got were barely even lukewarm. Finally about an hour after arriving at the restaurant our sushi was brought out. One of the plates that was brought to us was completely wrong and actually belonged at another table. That got sorted out. The sushi was average, but it isn't worth the price. Honestly I felt like I should have gotten paid for enduring the overall experience. Oh, and to top it all off, they don't have any real coffee creamer... just the gross powdered stuff. AVOID this restaurant. Go to Asian Grill (which is right across the street) if you want good sushi and great service. read more

My favorite sushi spot. I drive an hour for this place. They have a ton of creative rolls that you won't find at most sushi restaurants.

Go elsewhere. Save yourself the money and find other places to visit. My suggestion would have to be Asian Grill, which is ironically across the street in the opposite strip mall. It used to be one of my favorites, but, I won't be back. In the past I would frequent Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse once or twice a week. It was always delicious. However, during my recent experiance, I was quite dissapointed. Our food was served cold and I had to sent back to rewarmed. Once it came back I was disappointed that the receipes and food quality did not appear to be the same. I had the hibatchi salman and no sushi. The salmon appeared to be a filet sliced in half length wise (read, it was small) and was drowning in sauce that wasn't real flavorful. Another big disappointment were the changes to the sauces server with dinner. While the ginger sauce was all right, was not a fan of the poorly named yum-yum sauce. For a hibatchi dinner, I would stick with Japan West. read more

I walked in alone for dinner, as I was in town alone for work. The host just stared at me, so I stared back. Finally I said "Hi" and she still just looked at me. I told her I needed a table for just one, and she seated me, but looked confused, and was certainly not friendly. Isn't the point of a host/greeter to greet and be a host?! Great food, great decor, great times. Really nice on the inside, but the food and the chef show were even better. The chef made volcanos, cool, and made big fire. No one got burned, LOL. I find that even though the place is packed it might be due to Bering a singular fish in a small barrel. The value for money is low and the standards for cleanliness and a cheery attitude are even lower. Thank goodnes the food I got was cooked or else I might be vometing in the nearest restroom for fear ... I might anyway. I had to ask for more tea and the only time the service was quick was when they wanted the check from me. All in all it's not worth the money. Don't bother unless you enjoy the flair of a fire display and a headache after your meal. I would pass this place up and take a drive to a larger city. read more

Good sushi and friendly service. We sat at the bar and put in our sushi order, all the rolls were delicious. We ordered the Tuna Tataki, the Gyoza and a miso soup. All were excellent and the miso was not a salty mess like other places I've visited. I took a star off because our server took a while to get our drink order and then it was a little hard to get a hold of him to get the check. Seating in the regular tables is a bit cramped and expect to leave smelling like hibachi just a fyi psa haha. Will come again! read more

If I could no stars for this restaurant I would. It was a birthday dinner that we had delivered by middle man delivery and were great they always are. We ordered teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef with a side of tempura. Simple order it was horrible! Who makes Teriyaki and drowns it in a strange sauce that is like a half an onion in each order the temperature was soggy and not crunchy at all the soup we didn't even try. The meal didn't come with the appetizer that the menu says and the salad normally I like little Japanese salad but the salad dressing on this was tomato based salad dressing it was very odd. Sadly to say we will not be eating there if you can't get Teriyaki right how can you get sushi right this meal cost me over $60 and we ended up throwing it out. Sad we will try other Japanese places because this one couldn't perform even the rice wasn't completely cooked and it was white rice. read more

We came here for my husband's birthday since my son wanted to go to a Japanese steakhouse, and I am glad we picked Tokyo Steakhouse. We made a reservation so there was no wait, and we had a really nice server who always made sure our drinks were filled and well taken care of. He brought our salads and soup before the chef started, which was a good thing since we had so much food. this was the first Japanese steakhouse that I've been to that served fried noodles as part of the meal, which were delicious. my husband even took home leftovers, which is rare for him. will definitely return. read more

Very disappointed with this place. Called for a reservation and the next day was called by them and was told our reservation was given up because someone was willing to pay more. They did not call to ask us if we would pay more or to let us know what was going on. They just simply gave our reservation away with out checking with us. read more
