Sake, Sapporo & Japanese bar snacks
    Eric K.

Sapporo + hot sake to open. The Japanese bar snacks were a cool addition. The chopsticks are very cheap. Usually a sign that they "just don't care". I was told this place was opened and owned by Japanese companies for Japanese customers and clients. We shall see. I ordered Anagi, unagi, yellow tail, ebi tempura, California roll closing with AMA Ebi. My favorite. Hoshizaki coolers are a good sign. No Asahi :( Miso was hot with fresh green onion, as it should be. Ebi tempura. Delicious. California with tobiko. Fresh pickled ginger. Excellent. This is REAL Japanese eel. None of tha fake US catfish stuff here. Anago is very strong. Delicious. VERY good sushi! And now for the amaebi. I ate one piece before I remembered to take a picture. Delicious! Not quite the clear fresh I had hoped but it is Findlay, OH. No heads which is disappointing but again, where are we. This is a fantastic place and I will be back soon.

I grabbed take out lunch from here and was extremely disappointed. I'm no sushi expert but I can tell good sushi from bad sushi and this was definitely bad sushi. I order a cucumber roll, a pickled radish roll, and a spider roll. None of the ingredients from the rice to the veggies to the crab were fresh. The ginger and wasabi provided even seemed old as they had a brownish coloring to them. I was really disappointed in the quality as this restaurant was recommended to me. The service when picking up was good, though I did have to wait past the pick up time. The staff were friendly and the inside of the restaurant had a good atmosphere. It was well decorated, well lit, but a slightly packed seating.

    Soup with hibachi

This hibachi place is the place to go. Not only for the hibachi, but the BEST sushi in Findlay as well. It's always fresh and you know the meat and seafood is never frozen. They always do a great job with the food. Hands down best place in Findlay for a great meal.

    Sushi and Kirin beer

Hands down the best and the only genuine Japanese sushi in Findlay. This is where the Japanese in the area eat.

I've been enjoying sushi since 1978. I've had it all over the world, including Japan. In my experience, Japan West is among the best I've ever had. Amazingly fresh and perfectly prepare by the master Itamae.

I had ramen and sushi. Loved the taste just wish there was more than one small shaved slice of pork in my ramen.

Exceptional Service & Incredible Food at Stix…read more Another visit to Findlay was made even more special with dinner at Stix. Renz and his incredible staff have mastered the art of exceptional service. Drinks arrive within minutes, beautifully presented and every bit as delicious as they sound on the menu. We shared several, and every one was a hit. Our favorite starters are the curry mussels, chicken bao buns, and the watermelon feta salad. Choosing an entrée is always the hardest part because the tuna poke bowl, scallops with polenta, duck lo mein, and hot pot are all outstanding. Stix continues to be one of our favorite dining destinations, and we can't wait to come back!

In this case, the Hot Stone Bibimbap with Crispy Tofu ($23) was inauthentic in so many ways. Way too many carrots and broccoli - none of which was pickled banchan style. The rice was overcooked white rice that didn't have any oil element in it to actually crisp up in the dolsot hot stone pot, and the crispy tofu was overfried. Basically a fake-it-till-you-make-it attempt at a bibimbap that happens to have a legit stone pot. But if the ingredients are a joke, it doesn't matter. I would never order this again. Don't be tempted if you are familiar with how this dish is supposed to be prepared.

We were sat in under two minutes, and had our food in less than 10. This place runs like a well-oiled machine. Some of the waitresses here had to be at least 60 to 70 years old, and it looked like they came with the building. I'm not saying that as a bad thing. Is it really a good diner if at least one of the waitress's hands don't shake a little as she sits down your plate? The portions are enormous... The pancakes are the size of a plate. We watched the food come out and everything looks really good. Our waitress was fast and friendly, can't ask for anything better. It was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time.p

I HIGHLY recommend stopping in. It has a nice old school diner / down home feel. Definitely a place the locals frequent. Everyone was very polite & kind. The food was AWESOME! "Herbie's Mess" really hit the spot with me... paired with some Rye toast that made my belly VERY happy! My GF got the tater tot skillet which she very much enjoyed. The service was quick and the prices surely won't break the bank. Support small & local businesses! A+ We look forward to coming back as it's only about an hour and a half from home.
