The staff are so friendly and thorough I opted for the 60 minute scalp spa, normally $108 but I saw that they had a Groupon for about $50 My sister called and they were able to take us same day at 8:30 pm First they inspect your scalp and hair using probably the most high def camera I've ever seen, it's a little gross looking to see your own scalp so close up! And you change into a robe before they give a steam eye mask and turn on the massage chair while they give a very thorough hair wash, it was so relaxing that I dozed off a bit Afterwards, they thoroughly dry your hair while gently removing any tangles before giving some light therapy on your scalp and an antibacterial comb through My hair felt so incredible soft afterwards The overall experience was so relaxing and soothing, I'd definitely want to come back for more pampering read more

I've been to about 3 different head spas now and this one had very nice and friendly service. It's more of a 4.5/5 star rating since I can't give half stars lol. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I wish I had more of a neck/shoulder massage as I've received those at other head spas & because my styling of hair was a little frizzy (I think maybe because of my hair type, they weren't used to styling it maybe). Now for the great things about this place! The ladies that helped my boyfriend and I were very kind and gave us both quality service. We both left feeling very satisfied and relaxed. I love that they did several cycles of washing, massaging, rinsing, and repeating on my scalp. Some of the products felt nice and refreshing (maybe tea tree or mint). The seats/beds had massagers built in which was awesome! I hadn't seen that at other spas before! Lastly I wanna mention I found them on Groupon and when I called to see if they had same day availability and mentioned Groupon, they said they could price match in person (assuming since Groupon takes a cut). I booked a 90 minute experience with Tokyo Hair Washing Spa through ClassPass for 41 credits. Each credit is between $2-3 depending on which rate plan you're on. This 90 minute is equivalent to their $148 service. I am writing this as someone who has been to many headspa businesses in OC and LA and I usually get the 90 min services. When I arrived I circled the area once to see where the best spot was to park. They had street parking in front of the business but Las Tunas is main street, but I preferred to park on the small street nearby for safety reasons. I came a little early as instructed on ClassPass. They lady told me to sit but then she was distracted with other things. I'm like in that case can I use the restroom? Might as well be productive while I'm waiting for her. They have 1 station in front for the initial scalp exam, 2 head spa beds with curtains as separation, and 2 stations in the back for blow drying. So the 90 min Scalp Spa here comes with a few typos on their menu but it's basically a scalp exam, steam eye mask, scalp clean and relax, hair follicle deep clean, scalp care, hair hydration, hair repair, sleep therapy, nano hair care, light therapy, shoulder/neck tension relief. The thing I like most is the massage from the message bed they use with the treatment. It massages your back, arms, and legs throughout your head spa treatment. The lady was nice... but... rough... Often she would pull on strands of my hair and it would hurt. It might be the type of glove they use because the other head spas use gloves too but it never pulls my hair so painfully. Even with the massage it never hits the right spot. It was one of those treatments where you can't wait for it to be over. Also compared to other similar business types there was no enclosed steam mask and treatment for my hair, and the massage did not go down to the shoulder area. When the wash was over we moved to the chair for blowdrying. Ugh also clumsy with the blow dry. I have really long hair and at times she was just manually section it without clips and hold it up with the other hand and pulled on my hair some more. Sigh. What torture. Compared to similar businesses I did not get a post exam to see how much it improved after. There was no shoulder and neck massage on the chair. My hair was flat and felt ichy and oily. I don't know what she put in my hair but I'm not in a fan. I literally wanted to wash it off. Normally these treatments leave me feeling lush and full of volume, not flat like this. Also not great for any first timers. She didn't really explain anything throughout the process. There was a language barrier, which I don't mind, but you should know the basics for your profession. I liked the massage bed... she was nice... but I did not enjoy the service. There is another similar business a few blocks away that I prefer so I'll stick to Silk Pro Head Spa. read more

I got a Groupon for me and my sister, we've both been to head spas before and wanted to try this one. The hair washing was ok but the bed was really uncomfortable, the massager was made for taller people so it kept hitting my tailbone, my sister's too. I visited Tokyo Hair Washing earlier in November during my lunch hour and had a lovely experience! I called and left a voicemail earlier in the week. I received a call not long after and was able to easily make an appointment. I had purchased a groupon, which was $7 (on sale from $10), for 60MINS Scalp Spa. When you purchase the groupon, you are considered a "VIP" member and can pay their VIP prices. Essentially the original price is $108, and then you pay $54 on the store. Note, there is a limit of 100 per person, so you can go back and get the VIP price again. Appt: Unfortunately, I was running a little late and the lady called me to check but she was super understanding and friendly since I was already walking to the shop. When I arrived, I was instantly greeted. I changed into their robe and we first did my hair analysis on the camera. I was surprised because she said my scalp was healthy (it sure does not feel healthy!) but I let her know my concerns and how I have an itchier patch in a certain lower section of my scalp. We then moved on to the massage chair + hair washing. The hair washing experience was so good, thorough, and relaxing! There were so many techniques and every inch of your scalp feels refreshed throughout the process. She also gives you a short shoulder massage that also felt so good on my tense shoulders! Hair washing and scalp massage is one of my favorite parts of getting your hair done so this was such a treat. Since my appt was only 60 minutes, it did feel like she had to rush to wrap up. I did not receive another analysis to show the 'after' lol and she had roughly blow dried my hair so I left with wet hair. However, they do use Dyson hair dryers! But one thing to note is that she did not put leave-in conditioner, and my hair smelled slightly like tap water before I washed it again haha. I then paid with card and tipped in cash. Parking: It is primarily street parking. I ended up parking on a side street a block away and had to walk over. Overall, I'd definitely consider coming back for another time of pampering! I had such a good hair washing experience here. When you first get there you have to ring the ring doorbell so I felt super safe and secure here. As soon as you get in they sit you down and do a scalp analysis with this high tech microscope. My scalp was soo gross. They have you take off your top and you are given a robe to enjoy your experience. They sit you down and start working magic, the chair you are in is a massaging chair as well. this whole procedure is a hour long. So I fell asleep through the head massage. After they finish, they bring you back and start blowing your hair dry, then use different tools and machines to bring back health into your scalp. My scalp feels sooo clean! read more

You get an hour on a massage bed while they massage and clean your scalp then 30 minutes on the chair while they gently dry your hair and use other tools for hair growth and conditioning. Worth every penny. Just a note, they do not do blow outs, just dry your hair. I got Olson and he was amazing. Made an appointment the day before and was so excited to get a scalp treatment. Cece was amazing. It was only me and Cece, no body else was in the salon. She started off by putting a camera on my scalp. She said my hair looked healthy and I have a lot of hair. She proceeded to lay me in the massage chair and start the scalp treatment. It was my first time there. The lady who opened the door was nice. Her English wasn't that great, but was going enough where we can still communicate and I can understand her. The shop is nice and clean. It's a little small, but big enough to have 3 massage chairs and I believe 4 chairs where they do they check your hair/scalp with the camera. For what I paid for on their Groupon special was worth it. My friend and I went so I had a male who did my treatment and he asked if the pressure was ok. The massage chair was amazing. had the best experience at tokyo hair washing, i think this may be my new favorite spot to for head spa in the SGV! my mom, sister, and i were looking for a spot to do head spa and found tokyo hair washing on yelp. they did a scalp analysis prior and then lead us to our treatment areas. i loved the products they used - the shampoo was nice and minty and felt great on my scalp, and they give you a heated eye mask to relax during the treatment. they also have comfortable massage bed/ chairs while they're performing the head spa, i was so relaxed i fell asleep for a bit! post treatment, my scalp feels so clean and my hair feels nice and airy. i will def be back again! read more
