I was nervous since I tried to find "Yangsiguan" on Yelp and nothing turned up. Thankfully, due to some of the reviewers being former customers of Yangsiguan, they included the name in their review of Purelux. I'll break down my review of Purelux Scalp Spa into sections for better viewing: Location: According to the helpful ladies at the front desk, there will be a couple more storefronts opening up in LA. If you've been dreading the drive out, fear not! A closer one will open soon. Check in with them in the coming months for an update. Parking may seem daunting since the layout of this shopping center mirrors most of Pasadena's shopping centers: businesses are located in a horseshoe shape with parking in the front and back. The good news is that there is additional parking underground if you drive into the backlot. We came on a Friday so it was busy but didn't have trouble with parking at all. Purelux is located on the second floor and it's pretty unassuming. Keep your eyes peeled! Decor: Clean and white. It follows the same tasteful design as most Chinese salons. Upon walking in, the front desk is to your immediate right. There will be ladies to check you in and answer any questions. Beyond the front desk, you see salon chairs. The scalp care will take place to your left and they will happily walk you to your chair. The actual cleansing and massage will take place behind curtains to give you some privacy. That room will have a full body massage chair that the technician will ease your body into. Once you are in place, they turn on the chair and go to work on your scalp. The machine isn't too forceful and I found it very relaxing. Price: There are three packages you can purchase ranging from $100-170. Basic package is 60 minutes while the advanced package goes to 90 minutes. The service is broken down for you at the register so you can choose which one you'd like. Overall, I loved the experience! The scalp massage was methodical and firm. The cleansing was thorough. I chose the advanced package and it involved a scan of my scalp. Turns out, the front of my scalp is oily and the back is dry and irritated! Good to know. With the advanced package, you also get various add-ons like LED light therapy, shoulder massage, and ultrasonic comb. I enjoyed them but for my next treatment, I'll opt for the basic package as the additional services aren't my main reason for going. I have an LED system at home as well as an ultrasonic wand set. Conclusion: Will definitely go again! It's a great relaxing experience after a long week. Once that's all done and you go to the main chair for the 2nd half, this service includes a heated shoulder/neck massage. It was just the best service for resetting your nervous system AND your hair/scalp. It's pretty cool how they show you what your scalp and follicles look like before and after the service and offer products to maintain your scalp/hair health. Pricing is good and they always seem to have a deal going on! I often see a 15% off deal when booking on weekdays which is perfect for after work or days off! Making a reservation is easy. I either call in or make a reservation online. When making an online reservation, there is a $20 deposit that is later applied to your session. The associate at the front desk is always kind and helpful when checking me in. Next, someone will run a camera like object through my scalp and show me the current condition of my scalp whether it's dry, oily or congested. I usually take this time to share my concerns with the associate while she recommends helpful tips to maintain and improve my scalp. I choose the Luxury Scalp Spa which is a 90 min treatment that costs $138. This treatment includes, washing, massage, treatments and drying. The chair that I sit in for the hair washing is this amazing transformer-like that massages you. I have a hard time sitting for too long so 90 min is a long enough session for me! The chair really doesn't cause any strain or back pain which is a big plus! The salon has a very nice serene quiet vibe with peaceful music playing in the background. I really do think this is one of the best self-care, relaxing things to do whenever you want to treat yourself. Although it can be pricey, look for deals they have going on! I followed the hype and was dying to try this place. We booked our appointment around three months in advance for a weekday opening time slot. I'm gross and only wash my hair 1-2 times a week and rely on dry shampoo for survival. I went all out and lined my appointment up on day five of not washing my hair to get the full experience. Overall the experience was very relaxing. I opted in the luxury scalp spa which included a few extra items than the boutique option. The hair wash was great, and I learned I actually have a sensitive scalp. They scrub for a while so I head did feel little raw after but overall it was a very cool experience. While I did follow the hype, with the amount of new scalp spas popping up all over if I was to do this again I would probably try another spa instead. $138 + tip is a lot to spend (to me at least) for a hair wash, which I why I give it three stars. Finally got a chance to check this place out now that the hype has died down a little bit lol in the meantime, I had already gone to other head spas and I'm glad I have another experience to compare it to. Booking the reservation online was super easy, it requires a deposit though. It's located in San Gabriel, a neighborhood notoriously known as part of the "626" brand and if you don't frequent the area, I highly recommend you maximize the experience there and get amazing Asian food around there too! It's located in a plaza full of other businesses. This is on the second floor. There is parking underground if needed. Upon entering, it feels peaceful. We are immediately greeted and asked if we'd like water. We had to wait a bit to get seen. I was a little surprised about the layout of the area because the rooms are not necessarily "rooms" in the sense of doors and walls but just sections split off by curtains. It was still private but you do hear people outside of it obviously. The service overall was nice and relaxing during the wash but it didn't feel that impressive to me. The drying part was nice too but was definitely lacking. I wish they explained more in depth what each step they were doing meant. And the massage was sooooo short and sooo weak and that's the part I get excited most about. I just think with the price point, they could've put in a little more for the scalp wash and massage. Another place I went to is cheaper and it actually also included a face massage and my head spa experience was just as good as here. So I probably wouldn't come back here but I still appreciated the friendly service and the chance to experience this. My friend and I finally made our way here after booking a reservation 3 months prior. We both decided to splurge and got the 90 mins Pure Luxury scalp spa for $168. In comparison to the other 2 options, the extras in this one includes: scalp makeup remover oil, microcurrent ion follicle cleanser, phototherapy regeneration, and heat therapy for shoulder and neck relief. It was pretty gnarly to see the buildup and oil during the scalp analysis on the screen. The tech did advise me that it's pretty normal and my hair is considered "clean". Whew! My tech was very friendly, soft handed, and gentle. Have to admit it was quite relaxing when she washed my hair and during the heat therapy massage at the end. The only part I didn't like actually was the crazy massage chair. TBH I felt like I was in an Iron Man gone wrong suit lol It was grabbing both my arms as if it wanted to be sucked and twisted in a weird way. Same goes for my calves, not the best feeling. It was already at the lowest settings and eventually I just had to take both of my arms out for the rest of the session because it was so uncomfortable. The back massage portion on the chair was only alrighty. I don't know, maybe I just prefer hands massage more. My technician started off by showing me an analysis of my scalp, which showed that I had some build up and dryness, which I do struggle with. She took me back to the room and had me lay down on the bed, which had a full body massage while she washed my hair. At first, I enjoyed the massage but I ended up asking her to turn it off because I didn't like how it felt on my upper back. I came with my aunt and she actually liked the full body massage so it's really up to your preference. But the entire hair washing process was amazing. Heard so many wonderful things about this place and it's always so busy that you have to book your appointment months in advance. Finally was able to book a spot back in November for an end of January appointment late in the evening for my daughter and I. We originally chose the Scalp Spa, ended up with the new the PureLuxary Scalp Spa. There was a spot left and my friend booked that last spot. When you enter you're greeted by the host who checked us in and asked us to sit and wait while to made sure the room is ready. They escort you in and ask you to change into a warm buttoned towel wrap. Next you would lay down into this massage chair and they turn it on getting a heated massage from your shoulders to legs. This is when they start you with the essential oils head massage, wash, scrub and massage. It was so relaxing that I pretty much KTFO. I do remember when they steamed my hair and used a half circular water massager on my scalp which gave me goosebumps. After all that they would use other tools to massage and stimulate hair growth, soothe the scalp and blow dry until my hair was smooth, silky, shiny, and super hydrated. I wasn't really looking for anything from the analysis where they just tell you if your hair is dry or not so don't expect much from it. But I love how they really took their time and I ended up getting a treatment that was closer to 95 minutes hahaha. I appreciate it when quality and time are taken into account! Main downsides is they're definitely not prepared for hair with texture. Mine came out fine and I actually like the look, but people with curlier hair definitely will struggle. I don't know how well this place will be for people with c type/kinky hair. Like I was surprised that my hair wasn't exactly conditioned in the process and they didn't use a diffuser for me (I did see they had diffusers) so I'd be wary to recommend this spot if your hair has more texture. If you hair straight hair or mild waves, you'll love it. They managed with hair type and i overall found it fine, but if my hair was thicker and curlier, we'd have a different story. My friend Kat and I finally made it to Yangsiguan for some self-care! I booked our sessions for the pure luxury scalp treatment online a few months prior. There's a nonrefundable $20 deposit per treatment. They also no longer do the add-on services like the black technology head spa and Japanese hand care. Phone calls and text messages work best for questions. I appreciate the reminder/confirmation text message the day prior. We went in for a 9:00 p.m. 90-minute pure luxury scalp treatment. Parking was easy to find because they are located on the second floor of a shopping center. Check-in was easy. The staff guides you to a section where your treatment will take place. There was a robe, towel, and thin blanket to cover you. Also, a basket to put all your  belongings. Once you change to the towel and robe, you step out to see your scalp specialist. They sit you down and start scanning your scalp to show you your scalp's current condition. Mine was a bit dry. Then, they guide you back to your section to start working on the scalp. Lucky, the scalp specialist was great. She helped me lay down on the massage chair. Then she tucked me in with the blanket. Then, she elevated my legs. The massage chair is great. You receive a full body massage while they're working on your scalp. My scalp had never felt so fresh and so clean! The upper shoulder massage that is given towards the end was so nice. They are on the second floor to your left facing the street. I was greeted immediately upon arrival. Customer service was excellent. The treatment included a deep head scrub and wash for like 30+ plus minutes, a hair follicle scan, hair oils and serums. My hair has never felt better than after this appointment. They tell you how healthy your hair is and then also do a electric hair zapping for hair growth. They also dry your hair afterwards and comb it. Price was around $160. There is a cheaper option for 1 hour. The more expensive is 90 minutes. Overall, amazing experience definitely a treat. read more

Well, where do I start? I fell victim to social media overhyping a guilty pleasure and thought I should try this spa treatment as a reward to my hardworking self. I looked these guys up and tried to schedule an appointment online but there were absolutely none available for months -- so I did the next best thing and called. The gentleman who I had to play phone tag with a few times was able to squeeze me in on weekday late afternoon. Cool. When I arrived, I was greeted by the same gentleman in front of the shop. There's a small waiting area and then two rows of salon like chair set ups on each side of the suite. In the middle of the shop, there are small rooms sectioned off with ceiling high drapes creating a sense of privacy for each individual pod. Each 'room' is situated with a massage chair attached to an oversized sink in which the shampooing and scalp massage takes place. The process itself was interesting in that it felt like an extended scalp, head, and neck massage. It didn't feel like a "scalp treatment" but more so like an overpriced shampoo and deep conditioning service. The girl who worked on me didn't explain what she was doing the entire time I was on the massage chair, so I had to guess if she was shampooing or adding "who knows what" to my hair. I would have preferred her walking me through each part of the service so I would know what is being put in my hair and on my scalp. The only part of the experience that made it feel like a scalp treatment was that there was a scalp assessment at the beginning of the appointment. During that process, they used a tool to magnify the hair follicles and the surface of your scalp. Let me tell y'all -- that screen was not pleasant to the eyes. All in all, I wouldn't pay $140 for a 90 minute "luxury scalp treatment" again. This service isn't for everyone. It's good to experience it at least once so you can deterimine if you want this part of your beauty ritual. As someone who routinely receives facial treatments and full-body scrubs, this "scalp and hair spa" is right up my alley. The 90-minute luxury experience includes a full body massage chair, thorough scalp scrub and wash, blowdry, intense neck/shoulder massage, and blue/red light therapy. During my scalp check, my tech said the focus would be on removing buildup from hair products and also moisturizing the drier parts - and they did just that. The treatment is intended to reduce dandruff, promote anti-aging, mitigate hair loss, and remove oil and makeup buildup. There are about a dozen steps / items involved, starting from a hair wash and ending with a blowdry. Personally, I have thick and wavy hair that ends halfway down my back. My appointment took a full 90 minutes, though another person with my shorter and thinner hair wrapped up a bit sooner. My hair frizzed horribly by the end of it, but my scalp is clean and the softness of my hair is top-notch right now. I wouldn't expect to be event-ready after a blowdry here, but they use a nice Dyson so the end result is pretty decent. Sadly, I was hoping to add their ear cleaning service on but they said they are currently focusing on the 90-minute treatments due to demand. Alas! I'll have to check out other places that offer that service soon. My tech was quiet, attentive and polite. I'm not much of a talker during appointments, so this was a great match. She really dug into my neck and shoulder knots, which I very much appreciated. Tip isn't included at the end, so remember to add one for your tech's diligent service. For roughly $150-$170 or so, I would say this service is a great investment but may be best-suited every six months or even once a year. Like any other maintenance-oriented service, the priorities are service, location, and results. i have had a lot of scalp and bait treatment here - i've given the treatment for gifts over the last two years - they have expanded and now can accommodate more customers - but the quality of the treatment has not been as good as when they first opened. Maybe they need to make sure the new girls are trained like the first ones. the experience is not as great anymore. I've been coming to this spa for several years. As with anything consistency is key, and this scalp treatment has really improved my scalp and head health through postpartum hair loss etc. I have found that this Spa is very different from others in the variety of treatments that they use to improve Scalp health. Many scalp treatments offered elsewhere do not include anything more than a deep wash. This service is very thorough for rejuvenating the scalp.
