The food was pretty decent for buffet. I was a little iffy going in, but it wasn't that bad. There's a random fish that was trying to bite my finger through the glass, but I'm not sure if he's hungry. One thing I like was ice cream and the little random foods like olives, and pickles, which I thought was neat however there was sushi right next to dessert the organization was a little off but overall not a terrible experience. read more

Went to Tokyo Restaurant for lunch while shopping in Spruce Pine. We were seated promptly and our drinks were delivered very quickly. This place has a lunch buffet that is very reasonably priced at $9.99. The decor was similar to just about every other Japanese/Chinese restaurant that I have ever visited. Overall, a very good experience. My only recommendation would be to have less volume in the serving trays and replaced more often to keep the hot items hot. read more

Sometimes it's great others not so much. Staff is always pushy. Prices have gone up a lot while quality has went down. However if you order take out it's always good as long as you get everything you ordered. They do miss things from orders often. read more

I always come eat here when I travel to Bakersville. It isn't that far away and it's hardly ever closed (like lots of places in BVLE). The people are always kind and friendly and the food is delicious. There's a young man who works here that made broccoli especially for me since he knew I'm a vegetarian. If I could give 0 stars, I would! The waiter we had was rude. He leaned on me to reach empty plates, spilled clam juice which splattered, was trying to get my uncles attention to get his empty plate and was about to snap to get his attention. The waiter would stand about 4 feet from our table and watch us eat; very uncomfortable! I do not recommend this place at all. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Once again, I watched this place go from a little seedling to a budding flower! I make it a point to come here when I visit from out of town. You also won't find a negative review anywhere about this place. Now, they have a buffet during certain hours (lunch and dinner) which I highly recommend. I love the Hibachi chicken with their "special" sauce. I couldn't tell you what it was if I tried, but it's awesome over the fried rice and sweet carrots. If you ever order from the menu, I usually get the "child's plate" because its the exact same portion size, only cheaper :) Service is great and never an empty glass. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and they have Japanese memorabilia everywhere to complete the feel. read more

I work at a nearby hospital and the whole ER ordered dinner one night, and after two hours of waiting for delivery we called only to learn they arbitrarily canceled our order! The food is terrible anyway, but that really burned us all. We work hard and were all starving and it was too late to order food by then. read more

Tokyo is one of my go-to's in Spruce Pine. Reasonable prices and generous portions. Lunch buffet is a great deal. Load yourself up for a cheap price. Buffet food isn't as great as the stuff ordered from the menu, but come on, it's a buffet. That's how it goes! It's still solid. I'm a big fan of the house special fried rice. For just a shade over $5, you get a nice little carton packed with rice and meat. Tokyo rocks. Staff are very nice and accommodating. And man, they hustle! Hard workers. read more

I really think the only reason these places and businesses because they have no competition... This place has mediocre food at best. My review is for takeout, off the menu. We haven't tried the buffet. My husband and I ordered two large hot & sour soups, dinner orders of sweet & sour shrimp and orange chicken, and an appetizer of ribs. Oh my gosh all the food we got! The portions were huge! We ate dinner and it didn't look like we had touched our food. We are eating lunch and dinner again today from the leftovers! The food was delicious. They make the best hot & sour soup I've ever tasted. It's loaded with tofu and vegetables and just the right amount of spiciness. The orange chicken was slightly sweeter than I like, but perfectly cooked--not greasy or dry. My husband said his sweet & sour shrimp was wonderful, as were the ribs. The ribs were boneless and it was a huge amount. I didn't try them because I had quite enough food to deal with. The dinners came with an egg roll and fried rice. Both items were perfect. We will be regular customers of Tokyo in Spruce Pine! read more

This is not Japanese food. The only thing that is remotely good here is the rice and that's sad. This place started out pretty decent, but now they have up'd there price and it is just not worth it. They are suppose to have the buffet all day on Friday's and I don't know how many times I have went there and they were like "owe, no buffet today". Why even advertise it if it is not even available. Sorry, but I am not going to pay $9 for some what you call hibachi chicken that is just chunks of chicken and some undercooked zucchini. The last time I was there I got the so-called "special" and it was suppose to be sesame chicken and hibachi steak, salad, and a soup for $9. I was like owe man this is a good deal. Got it to go and got home and the soup was just chicken broth with what looked like seaweed in it. I also did not get a salad and when I called them they were like "Owe salad no come with to go orders". Everything always starts with "owe". I was like it would have been nice if you would have told me so I could have substituted it for something else.." "Owe, no we no substitute you have to eat in" Yeah, I have to eat in so you can charge me $2.50 for a drink. The combo was also like a spoonful of each and it was separated by a whole freaking orange that had been cut into slices and took up most of the to go box it came in. Let's just say that my 4 year old daughter had no problem finishing the dinner on her own and she eats like a bird. Over priced and completely not worth it.
