Ok ok. Here we are. Taking this as it is. That twice a year delicious Chinese takeout. For that, we are a win and a go. Ordered pickup here through door dash. Quick estimated time but I ended up waiting about 12 minutes over. Also the inside of the place stressed me out- mostly all the plastic wrap. Maybe Covid leftovers? The redeeming qualities were in the energy of the staff and the adorable older couples talking across the small restaurant about how they remembered this local place since high school. Now to the food. Very affordable prices. The spring rolls were small but cheap and delicious. Perfectly crispy and a great app. The crab Rangoon a were a bit pricey. Or so I thought until I saw the quantity. Did we eat them all despite the large number? You bet. Warm and creamy and delicious. The chicken lo mein was plentiful and delish. As was the crab but as predicted very little crab in it. I'd say the smalls were still two meals with an app. Great sauce. Overall wonderful for what we wanted.

For $10.17 total, No. 1 China is a pretty good deal for takeout Chinese food. Not authentic or healthy, but tasty and very filling. Food came out very fast too, less than 10 minutes. The restaurant itself is a little run down and the buffet looks questionable, but I ordered the Pork Lo Mein to go and got a massive portion of pretty salty noodles with not a lot of pork. But for $10, I'd definitely get this again!

Great lunch specials till 3 daily

Good Chinese food! Your basic stuff, but fast friendly service. Had a craving for their General Tso's tonight and it hit the spot!

Favorite Chinese place in Asheville area. The General Tso's chicken is good and the fried Dumplings were fantastic.

Service was fast. Food wasn't that great. Egg rolls were cabbage only. Kung pao Chicken wasn't good. Place seemed clean enough.

It is located in downtown Asheville so there is no immediate parking lot but there are some places nearby or street parking, The inside is very modern and there is seating both inside and outside. Our server was very friendly and service was very prompt! My family got the Lo Mein with Chicken, Chow Fun with Beef, Sautéed String Bean, Buddha Bean Curd Rolls, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, and Spicy Chicken. I loved the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings! The wrapper was very tender and the shrimp filling was delicious. It tasted very authentic to me. I also loved the Sautéed String Bean as it had the right amount of garlicky sauce. The Lo Mein was made with thinner than usual noodles but still tasted good. I think the Chow Fun tasted a bit off. It kind of tasted a bit sweet and like drunken noodles at some points as opposed to the traditional smoky flavor that the dish has. The rice noodles that were used were also thin as opposed to the usual wider noodles. As for the Spicy Chicken, it tasted solid. I liked the slight crisp before biting into each piece and it was not really spicy. I definitely tasted the cumin (I am not a super big fan of), which is a popular flavor found in Szechuan cuisine. Overall, I think this is a nice spot for some Chinese food, especially being near the mountains which is more isolated. I would probably rate it a 3.75/5 stars if I could. I wish chicken feet were part of their dim sum menu (it is pretty small and there are no rolling carts in case anyone is wondering). I do think some flavors of the food I tasted seem to cater a bit more to the Western taste palate (my parents agree as well), but I enjoyed my time here.

This place was a fusion of Asian foods so I'm usually a bit reluctant to order anything too crazy so we stuck with what we knew. Spring rolls were fresh and tasty. Haven't had it with bell peppers before but it was good with the sauces. Green curry had good flavor but a touch loose for how I usually like it. Ginger salad came really overdressed so we didn't eat too much of that but we really liked the cucumbers. Whatever that sauce it was tossed in was very pleasant. We also enjoyed the stir fried eggplant dish with shrimp. It had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. Lastly I ordered the pad see ew, noodles cooked really well and all the textures were there. I could taste the char from the wok but it did lack that "sweet soy" flavor I'm looking for in this dish. I would say overall we enjoyed most of the dishes and some just needed a bit more flavor but it was still a good experience.
