Ater 2 weeks of traveling in Japan, on a tour and changing hotel every night, bus and train rides, etc. my lower back started acting up. My wife and I looked for a good massage solution of any kind - Thai, chiropractor, shiatsu, and found Tokyo Shiatsu on Yelp. We called for an appontment Saturday morning and the first available was 3pm for 2 people. I saw some reviews saying it's hard to find, but just drive all the way back behind the main shopping center and it's on the right. When we got there, we heard kids' voices and babies crying, so were a little confused what was going on. It may be that it's a family business, so they bring their kids and take turns taking care of them. For those looking for a spa experience, look elsewhere. It didn't bother us. There are a couple of private couples' rooms so it was nice for us. They all speak Japanese here, but still pretty good English so there's no problem either way. We liked it because it felt like we were still in Japan. We had Carrie and Aya, and they did a great job. For $30 / hr, it was well worth it and left a nice tip for both of them. I had an older gentleman that did my massage today and he was great, the pressure was on point and oh boy did he relieve my sinus headache I had coming in. The place again is a little tricky to find but after the first time u get use to it. The price of paying with cash is $30 an hour what a steal, I tip $15 he was great and I can appreciate a good massage. This place has great prices. It's something ridiculous like $35/hr, but they require you to tip a certain amount. It's posted inside. I think I paid $105 including tip, for two people to have an hour massage each. I would give them five stars if they didn't talk so much. It's hard to get comfortable and enjoy the massage because the employees talk a lot. They're super sweet, it just kind of makes it difficult to relax and enjoy the moment. Being to many different massage places, from Westminster to Irvine to Fullerton to even Thailand, I can say I am somewhat a massage snob. Generally, at least in my experience, the ones who give some and strong massages were either men or more elderly woman. So when I first realize that my masseuse was a young Japanese lady, I was a bit disappointed and expected the same massage I get each time I get a young one , weak and sad. Tokyo Shiatsu was the first massage shop I tried out in the US-- my first massage ever was in Vietnam and boy was that a relaxing and affordable experience. I was introduced to this place by a friend who gets massages often. He highly recommended we try it out and I figured we might as well make use of time while we waited for our 1-2 hour wait for omakase at Ohshima nearby. We were lucky enough to get an opening for two people that day. It's usually so busy here and there have been days when it's all booked up days in advance, but we lucked out with a last minute appointment. The massage was so much better than the ones I get in Westminster/ Garden Grove. I'm used to being kneaded like cough, but here, I was massaged until all my muscles were relaxed and at ease. The find knots even I don't know I have and they slowly work on loosening them up. My favorite masseuse is an older Japanese lady. She works wonders! I need to ask for her name next time. She works with the perfect amount of pressure when it comes to restoring my muscles back to a good state. They don't use oils; they just put a sheet over your body and massage away. Make sure to wear comfortable loose clothing for optimal results. At $30/hour, who can complain. What a great start to my evening as I walk over to my delicious omakase dinner at Ohshima after. Have been looking for a while for a new massage place as I can seemingly never be satisfied by any price nor quality of massage haha. And most massage places I've been are pretty inconsistent at best. Well in my price range I luckily located this place and had it bookmarked for a while I was willing to try a new style of massage and it was time where my knots were beginning to add up. Don't like footsie massage places, if I wanted to rub my feet I'd go to Brookstone and some have very shady qualifications... don't have money for high end massage places but still want some privacy and high quality treatment for my ailments, aches, and pains. Called them for an appointment on a Sat. morning and they easily fit me in for 11am, one hour treatment for the advertised price of $30, which is around $50 if you walk in without an appointment. Bit confusion on the phone as she told me they don't take card, which I was having trouble hearing after two tries, so I brought cash and card just to be safe. Showed up a couple of minutes late because it's a bit hard to find from the street, but no worry they were still able to easily accommodate me. With little explanation, she told me to remove all my personal belongings from pockets and asked if I had any injuries. Nothing I could think of, so I proceeded to lay down on the table as explained. Halfway through, they instruct you to, then at the end you pay and they offer you water and tea. The environment is very quiet and serene and you could actually fall asleep if you're not careful. There are two rooms with two beds in each room, as far as I could tell. So it's not private but it's small enough that you're not overly concerned with privacy. They have other choices like a 90-minute massage, but I wasn't too interested in this as it was my first time, and an hour is usually more than enough treatment for me for one day. What's different about this place is: a) it's clothed and b) you're rubbed through a thin sheet, rather than bare skin with oil. Neither of these are bad, even if it takes some getting used to the first time. I highly suggest wearing ultra-thin clothes if you can, as it will only aid in your massage. I didn't know this going in, but it didn't detract as much as I expected. Shiatsu is pretty much a fingertip pressure (Japanese) massage, but they occasionally use other parts of their hand or arms to work on you. In general you can adjust the pressure or the areas that they're focusing on, which is nice. Overall it's a very positive and relaxing experience, not to mention therapeutic. The woman performing my massage was the main lady there, I guess her name is Ko judging by what everyone says. But everyone says all the massage therapists there are good, so I'd try whoever they set me up with. Can't wait to go back again and give them more of my business. read more

Fast forward to massage~I got a very tiny, extremely thin Japanese woman who was sooo nice but she was out of breath doing the massage. (We got the 1 hr basic massage.) The lady was very attentive & tried her darn best but being she weighed like 90 lbs, she didn't have the strength in her tiny hands to really get at my knots. Funnily, my friend had Carrie who was more powerful & my friend was asking her to be more gentle. We should've switched masseuses!! Lol. Have to say overall, it was sooo relaxing & I did feel like they know what they're doing in spades. You keep your clothes on like others said but the great thing is they're able to focus on those areas where you're tight & knotted up! Will definitely go back~can't beat their prices. Cash preferred with tip as mentioned. Note: if you've ever been to a korean sauna & gotten a massage/scrub~they use the exact same techniques minus the body scrub & you aren't naked!
