Spicy salmon crunch and Tokyo rolls
    Louise C.

I have driven past it hundreds of times, but on the recommendation of a client - finally decided to try some rolls. I ordered the Tokyo and spicy salmon crunch rolls for takeout - delicious! The rolls were huge, perfectly rolled, fresh and so tasty. The staff were very pleasant and my order was ready quickly. Will be returning in the near future.

SERVICE: 5/5 Exceptional service. Friendly and courteous. The family that runs this restaurant is very sweet and nice. FOOD: 2/5 Mediocre quality of food at best. Sure, you get what you pay for. $5 maki are hard to come by in Toronto, let alone in this part of town. I suppose you get what you pay for. If you're after really cheap maki, then this place is hard to beat. If you're after quality and taste, then I would not recommend this place. Even though the people who run this restaurant are really great at making you feel welcome, I just didn't like the quality of rice and ingredients to warrant a second trip to this place.

Love this place. The owners are very nice and always do that little extra for their customers. The sushi is very good and very fresh.

The worst service. Order from Sushi Ocean. Tokyo sushi is twice the price and the order experience was terrible.

It was 4pm so there were only one or two other customers. We debated getting a platter, but couldn't resist their signature rolls. I ordered the seafood yaki udon, while my boyfriend got the chicken katsu. We also got the volcano spicy salmon dynamite roll to share. My udon tasted great, but it was about three times too saucy (took some home in a takeout container and liquid oozed everywhere). The rolls are definitely larger than normal, and each sushi was a two-biter. Tasted fantastic, but not at all spicy. If I'm ever in the area again, I would want to come back and try some of their other sushi. Service was great, and it was a solid meal.

I ordered a salmon teriyaki bento box with expectations that it would be very small but I was pleasantly surprised that the box was gigantic and I was so full after I finished eating it. The only thing I would complain about is that the wait was very long which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. It took us about an hour to get our food and the restaurant was very small and not even busy at that time.

We all each got miso soup and a salad as a starter. I got the Maki Set B which includes the dynamite roll and spicy salmon roll ($15.95). My sister and I split the butterfish roll ($6.95). My brother got the bento box with shrimp and tempura veggies ($13.95). In terms of portion sizes, I have not seen a bento box with this much food and this great of a deal at other restaurants before. For the sushi, it was delicious and presentation was beautiful. The maki set was served on a wood board with ample wasabi and ginger. The rice to fish ratio was excellent and the fish tasted so fresh. I loved the dynamite roll and the tempura was still extra crispy. This was also my first time having butterfish. Not a sushi connoisseur so I can't eloquently describe what I tasted but I know it tasted great. The prices are fair and for what quality sushi you're getting, I felt it was worth it. Kibo Sushi also has a $5 and $10 cash and carry deal where you can purchase a small or large tray of their prepackaged sushi. It looked like a good deal as well. Service was great and the sushi came out pretty fast. Everything was very filling.

We were quickly greeted and seated when we walked in; it was bustling with activity both with employees working quickly and customers eating and talking with enthusiasm. We ordered the Sashimi Gold combo, $28.25, which came with 24 pieces of sashimi and a large bowl of white rice along with miso soup and salad. I would have preferred all fish, but there were 6 pieces of octopus, which made up 1/4 of the platter. I did appreciate the 4 legs of sweet shrimp, and when you counted each leg, I actually got 25 pieces. All the fish was excellent; they were large pieces and thick. My husband got the Supreme Bento box and upgraded to beef teriyaki, $20.25. We appreciated that we were asked how we wanted the beef cooked - medium rare. The sauce was a little thick and thoroughly covered the meat. The food was abundant with the amount of the side dishes including tempura. Service was pleasant; efficient, polite, and with a smile. Parking was a little challenging, but we went around 8:30PM, so we were able to park on Bathhurst (available after 7:00PM). I love that there was sanitizer on every table. The bathrooms only had hand dryers, so I had to touch 2 doors to get out and the railing up the stairs, so they were "dirty" again. 1 star deducted due to my comment about too much octopus and the thick sauce, but also the washrooms being downstairs. I know they can't do anything about this, but I have friends w/disabilities, and that steep stairs might present a challenge. I would definitely return. I even stated that if this was near me, I'd be here all the time.
