To operate the top, the car has to be in neutral…read more The transmission linkage was "out of whack", and the only way to get the top to go up or down was to move the column-mounted gear shifter back and forth until I found the sweet spot that would allow the top to operate. I took it to Lay's Transmission, and they made all the necessary adjustments. Now, when I put the car in neutral, the top works perfectly every time. As a classic car, it was stored in a safe, secure area and wasn't left outside overnight. I would recommend them to anyone who needs their transmission repaired. They do outstanding work at a fair price.

Avoid at all cost. Replaced transmission they said replaced torque converter too yet it went out…read morewithin 9 months and less than 10k miles with no towing on truck . In response they put in another torque converter at their expense, and as pay back they cross threaded and stripped the bolts on exhaust putting exhaust back on with an impact , shortly after it developed a mysterious tick , turns out the tech didn't bother to put all the bolts back into torque converter, no lock tite only one of three bolts installed and they ran that one on with an impact cross threaded as well, didn't refill transmission so pump was making surge noise because it was two quarts low .... All this because I needed them to warranty their work ? Sure they rebuilt the tranny , I think but don't expect them to honor warranty without being pissed off apparently. I'll take off work and do it myself next time.
