This place was recommended to me by a family member, who had a positive experience there. Right from the start my experience was positive. When I called to schedule my first appointment, the front office receptionist was very helpful and friendly. She was able to help me schedule a date and time that worked with my schedule. They were patient with me and took the time to answer all my questions. When I walked in for my appointment, the front office staff were welcoming and it helped me ease my nerves. They helped me check in and I was called in quickly. Alicia was kind and patient, and helped me with my questions concerning my insurance. The dental hygienist/ assistant was so nice and gentle. She made sure I was comfortable and I was thankful for this because I have sensitive teeth. The dentist was kind and takes the time to learn more about his patients and addressed my concerns. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Yu a few days later he took the time out of his busy schedule to survey the tooth and told me that it was a concussion and to let it heal. I came back a couple weeks later and got some x-rays and thankfully it healed about a month later. I'd appreciate his care and great bedside manner, even my anxiety. I recently came back for a check up and cleaning and I have to admit I got the best cleaning from Cindy. She started with asking me about any concerns I had and I mentioned enamel erosion. Well what I thought was enamel erosion was a lot of tartar on the surface of my teeth and she was able to really scale through all my tartar as well as clean the stains on the bottom of my teeth and make my teeth polished, clean and shiny like a new set of teeth! Also love the front desk staff! They are always so kind and organized. I actually was able to come in earlier due to a cancellation because they had made a note of it late last year!

His staff is very professional and wonderful. I had the honor of having the doctor clean my teeth yesterday. As he worked, he told me what he was doing and how did my teeth and gums look.. I really believe that dental health is so important to overall health and living a long and healthy life. I insist on cleaning every four months. My gums are so important to me and my health. I had to wait six to eight months to get in to see Dr. Yu, but it was worth it. My past dentists tried to upsell me or tell me I needed unnecessary work, but that will not happen here. I've always had a lot of anxiety when it comes to visiting the dentist especially since i'm prone to having dental issues and have definitely had my fair share of negative experiences. However, the team at Irvine Modern Dentistry is one of the first to not make me dread dental check-ups and cleanings. Everyone is so friendly, knowledgeable, and takes my concerns into consideration. My hygienist, Ken, is gentle yet precise when it comes to my cleanings and always checks on me to make sure I'm doing okay. I also appreciate hearing about the latest technologies that the clinic is implementing. It is clear that they deeply care about the dental health of their patients and they make a point to recommend treatments that are best suited for me, rather than pressure me into buying services/products that are considerably out of my budget. On top of that, the cavity itself wasn't properly filled, and my sensitivity and pain have only gotten worse since the visit. This was my first time at the clinic. I went in for X-rays and a consultation for the filling. As I was checking out, the receptionist pushed me to get a full mouth X-ray just because my insurance would cover it, which wasn't anything I needed. It felt like they were only trying to bill my insurance. The numbing shot was painful and the procedure was rough. I left with scratches and pain in my gums despite only having one cavity filled. The filling came out to $180 with my insurance, which isn't bad, but I'll need to go to another office to have the whole procedure reevaluated and likely redone.

We were charged over $1,000 out of pocket (more than $3,000 before insurance) for something that shouldn't have been done. They also took an excessive number of X-rays--18 before a routine cleaning, and many more afterward just to "check" their work. For simple fillings, they removed far more tooth structure than expected, leaving the tooth hollow and then recommending crowns as a follow-up. While the staff appears friendly, it often feels like they are pushing as many procedures as possible rather than prioritizing what is truly necessary for the patient.

I've had two visits here and the billing practices are incredibly shady. Dishonest Charging and Customer Service: During my first visit, they charged $750 but the insurance paid them later and billed only $474 from me. I was not notified of any of the charges from walnut dental until I checked my dental insurance account 5 months later. When I called them out on these charges and demanded a refund, they gave me a weak excuse that the money was just "on hold," despite there being no record of any hold on my portal. They only refunded me because I discovered the mistake and confronted them. If you don't audit your bills line-by-line, they will take advantage of you. Avoid this clinic if you value financial transparency and ethics. Unauthorized Charges: During my routine cleaning, the clinic automatically charged $75 to my credit card on file without my knowledge, consent, or presenting a treatment plan. Hidden/Padding Fees: They added non-covered cosmetic/fluff codes to my bill--such as D1330 (Oral Hygiene Instruction) for a ridiculous $88 and D4921 (Irrigation) for $29--without informing me beforehand that these were out-of-pocket costs.
