I had the privilege of working for Dr. Keller early in my career as a young dental assistant, and he was hands-down the best employer I could have asked for. I learned so much under his guidance and feel incredibly lucky to have been mentored by such a talented and compassionate pediatric dentist. His wife, Kristen, is equally wonderful--genuine, down-to-earth, and just an all-around good person. Together, they create such a warm and welcoming environment. Dr. Keller truly has a gift when it comes to working with kids. He's the perfect mix of goofy and engaging while also being exceptionally knowledgeable and professional. It's rare to find a provider who can make kids laugh one minute and calmly handle complex procedures the next. His approach is both comforting and effective, and I still carry many of the lessons I learned from him into my own work today as a seasoned dental hygienist. Fast forward nearly 20 years--now as a mom, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my own children's care. My son, who is on the autism spectrum and has a "spicy" personality, recently needed dental work. Dr. Keller and his amazing assistant were patient, kind, and so in tune with his needs. My son went in with zero hesitation and felt completely at ease in their care. The doctor treated 6 teeth for my daughter, and I am very glad that it was stress-free! I didn't care about the cost of my daughter's dental treatment, my main task was to use the least impact on the child's brain through calming medicine or not to use it at all if possible and to do it without stress, efficiently and quickly! We visited many children's clinics and made the right choice! I want to note that this is the only clinic that did not take money for the first consultation and examination and used x-rays from other clinics without forcing my child to be irradiated again ! We love this dentist office! All of the staff is always so kind and they are prompt with taking our kids back for teeth cleanings and other dental work. Great with reminder calls and very friendly front office! I am so glad I was referred here! Dr. Keller even works with our hematology department when needed! I can't say enough great things about all the staff and hygienists that work here. They have TV for the kids and have the parents choose if they want to stay with the children while they get cleanings or other dental work done. Bonus the office is near the beach so we usually take a walk downtown or to the sand while we are in the area! read more

I love Dr. Keller and Trisha. I highly recommend them! My oldest child had a very traumatic experience at our previous pediatric dentist. Additionally, our previous pediatric dentist was very pushy with me. When we came to Dr Keller's office, I was concerned about how my daughter would react. Amazingly, she was fine - even enjoyed it! My middle child gets nervous with cleanings. Yet Trisha and Dr. Keller move slowly and make the experience comfortable and fun. Dr. Keller treats my family with respect. He takes time to answer questions and I never feel that we are rushed. You get a small "beach" town feel with expert, high quality care at this office. read more

It's been over a decade and we still feel like we should have gotten a refund for the anxiety provoked by this office. Our kids came to our adult (parent) cleanings since they were infants to normalize the dentist. They were comfortable. This office wanted to use a drug cocktail for our kids for routine procedures and argued that we were doing harm to our children by not administering Rx, but they didnt even think to look at the neurocog effects of early exposures (first exposures are always the most fun for a reason) and more important than that it was the default and trying without wasn't even a consideration. A bad sign for a pediatric dentist who should be expert at promoting good affect and cognitions among kids with a lifetime of dental experiences ahead of them. Ya it's easier for the dentist if he doesn't have to attend to caring for the kid. We left that dentistry and went to Great Smiles where staff and my kids have every time said the experience was good and easy --- without any consideration of using drugs. That's a lot of visits not that one is 18. Drugs might be the correct route for some kids but the posture taken but this practice deserves your scrutiny and check with your pediatrician first. read more

Dr. Keller and his staff are top knotch! They are very friendly and fun with kids. He takes he time to educate the kids and parents, and is pro-active. The kids watch a video above their chair while they get teeth cleaned, and are so comfortable they almost fell asleep! The office is very Encinitas style 'beachy' and cute. Dr. Keller and his team saw our 1 1/2 year old after she took a spill over a railing at Legoland. They were polite, compassionate, and knowledgeable. An x-ray showed no chipped teeth, of which we were afraid. A bit of guidance from the wise doctor, a local referral in our home area, and some heavy-duty antiseptic mouthwash and we were on our way. I recently took my son to Dr. Keller. We felt very comfortable and his staff are highly professional. I have been searching for a dentist that is sincere, traditional, and conservative. He is all that and will not up sell you. Dr. Keller is a genuine dentist with a gentle approach. He gave us his sincere and professional opinion on a tooth which two days prior another dentist recommended a root canal. After reviewing his X-Ray from a previous dentist he mentioned a root canal is not needed plus my son was not exhibiting symptoms of nerve pain. or that warrant a root canal. He saved us a lot of pain and money. He was able to use the same X-rays from previous dentist and did not have to expose my son to any further radiation. Dr. Keller explained the procedure every step of the way. This helped ease any anxiety. He focused on the toothache only and redid the filling without any other issues or up selling. I love his conservative and gentle approach. Thanks Dr. Keller for your genuine and sincere opinion. You are one of few dentist who remain true to providing the best dental care without draining our pockets. I will bring my two other children as future patients and highly recommend him to any family seeking a genuine and sincere dentist who is wonderful and patient with kids. Dr. Keller is amazing! His knowledge and caring attitude has helped my 3 children be comfortable in the dental office. Let's face it...not exactly my favorite place to go, and as a parent, none of us wants to see our kids scared or uncomfortable. This is exactly why I take mine to Dr. Keller. My goal is to help my kids better understand and trust their doctors and dentists, so they won't be as fearful to go see them their whole life. These guys are the best at that, and their new office is great! Forget about cost, do what's right for your kids. My kids absolutely love going to the dentist now that we bring them here. The staff and the doctor are perfect at putting everyone at ease, which is no easy task for my wife and me when it comes to our kids. Dr. Keller was able to correct some dental work done by a previous Dentist that we were not happy with and now my son Isaac has his beautiful smile back and has a much easier time eating than before. This is the best place hands down of any dental office around for children! We have been going to see Dr. Keller for 12 years with all three of our children and wouldn't trust anyone else. Dr. Keller is knowledgable, professional, approachable, and conservative with regards to recommended treatments. My sons first visit at 4 years old. I'm so happy we got a referral here. They have toys, TV and Xbox for the older kids while you wait, though we did not have to wait at all. Trish was wonderful! She gave my son (and me) a tour of the place first, gave him a blanket, allowed him to handle the equipment and pick his toothpaste flavor. She had him hold the vacuum straw and filled a cup with water so he could suck it up and see exactly what the thing was going to do first. They have TV's on the ceiling with headphones for the kids. Its netflix so the kids can pick what they watch. This made the whole thing easy for my son. I could tell he was hesitant to first let her in his mouth so she used the mirror to count his teeth and he counted too. Then he was fine. They spent a lot of time making my son comfortable throughout the cleaning and exam. Beautiful and new office too with easy parking. Though this office is not in my network he was covered by my insurance (Delta). This won't be the case for all, I know, but call ahead if you're not sure. The front staff was wonderful. All in all I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. Highly recommend for routine dental work. read more
