One of the great music bars in southeastern PA. Just one problem? While sitting there watching Jersey Transit Authority I noticed that every time a bartender rang up beers nothing fancy just Miller Lite Bud Coors Light they were charging a different price every time $4 $4.50 $5 $5.50 ? Now I know some bars pump up prices when bands play and thats not cool but I could only think the bartenders were building their tips into the drinks? This isn't the first time I've heard this and now witnessed it. Also when I got there 90% of the seats were reserved? Was happy got there early enough to snag seats at the bar but then I got to see this. That sucks you get there an hour early and can't even get a table even though the place is 80% empty. I have been coming to this place for great service, good beer, and the best roast beef sandwich in the world for about 20 years now. My sweet beautiful bartender makes me never want to leave, and they really do sell the best roast beef sandwich in the entire world. I lived in south Philly where bars, and restaurants do not survive unless they're good. I was in the military and used to travel the world. This place has stayed consistent for 20 years, and so has Joe Beef's recipe. It was always my first stop when I returned home from a deployment. Please don't ever change. read more

If you are not from Delaware County you need to be tuned into McDade Blvd. This is not Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. This is not the Golden Mile in Chicago. If you live near here and want to dress up and go out to eat fancy, you go to Applebee's! The outside of this place looks like crap. It's so sad you almost expect the sign to say it's a strip joint! What the hell, I stopped in for lunch today and there was not a single nude girl anywhere! However the bartender was very cute and said she's been there from the day it opened 19 years ago. If that's true she was hired when she was about 4! The atmosphere here is a weird cross between a sports bar and a dive bar. It's big with multiple rooms, pool tables, a stage and two bars. It's non-smoking but has a smoking lounge. It was nice to see the TouchTune juke box. They are supposedly famous for their Roast Beef sandwich so I ordered one for about $7. It was excellent and served very wet along with, thank God, a large pile of napkins. I also enjoyed some fries which were hot and crispy and better than average. You know what; enjoying an A OK lunch served by a cute bartender is not such a bad thing. read more

Great fun atmosphere! Everyone very friendly. Come for the band and the atmosphere but do not come for the food. We ordered 5 different appetizers. Nerissa's hot crab dip. This was pretty good. The homemade chicken fingers. These were very dry. The jalapeño poppers. These were good, you really can't mess these up. We did the mild buffalo wings. These were mostly breading very little meat and very dry. The bangin' shrimp. The shrimp were soft and mushy. I ordered a whisky sour. The bartender Ian made a great one!!! But I didn't like seeing the ice for my drink come from the same spot that beer bottles were being chilled. read more

You know, judging on past reviews of this place, I don't think I'm going to tell you much that's new about this place. Most everything that has been said about this place is the truth. I've come here many times over the years, though I would not in any way consider myself a regular. But every now and then I need a taste of this place for nostalgia sake, even though it's only been around about 15 years. That was the case today when I decided to stop in for lunch. But to any Yelpers who come here looking for a good time from other areas of Philly/Jersey/Delaware or way out of town, you need to know this place may not have been built for you. It's as MacDade Blvd as MacDade Blvd gets. And if you have no idea what that means, I can't help you there. Just know that you have to accept it for what it is. It was built for the locals. If you think there are things about it that are crappy, you're probably right. Overall, this place is far from perfection. But it ain't changing anytime soon because I'm certain the owner is doing just fine financially with the formula he has concocted here. It doesn't work for everybody, but this place stays in business for a reason. Basically, these are the 4 main reasons you come to Tom N Jerry's in our area. Your reasons may vary, but these are probably the most popular in my mind... 1. You crave one of their sandwiches or an order of their wings. These are excellent in my book. The beef and pork sandwiches are fantastic, probably a notch below a place like Nick's Roast Beef, but definitely in the same ballpark. I happen to love the wings. I'm not sure if everyone would agree with me. They're huge and greasy. They are some of the biggest and crispiest wings in this area. I'd recommend coming during lunchtime if you can when the place is far easier to manage crowd-wise. Also, you won't have to pay any cover charges. Other items on the menu may be hit or miss. But they have mastered their standard items. Also, you're probably not bringing a first date here or your grandmother for her birthday (unless Grandma or your first date really enjoys a Miller Lite, greasy wings and a football game, in which case go for it). 2. You need to see the big pay per view fight / wrestling extravaganza. I fully expect that when the WWE gets up to Wrestlemania 57, Tom N Jerry's will still be showing the action for a $20 cover or whatever the going rate will be at that time. Hey, I once introduced a male and female friend to each other here during a Survivor Series pay per view. They're married now. Who says true love can't happen at a joint like this? 3. You need to see LeCompt perform for the 787th time in your life. 4. You are just looking to get plastered with friends. There are many choices on MacDade Blvd for that kind of night, and this is one of the standard go to places on the boulevard. It is what it is, Yelpers, and that's all there is to it. read more

This place was AWESOME! Great people, great music and great food. The bartenders were on point ALL night! This was my and my husband's first time there and WE WILL BE BACK! It was a Wednesday open mic night and we could not have had more fun!it's a hometown atmosphere, not a pretentious vibe to be felt at all-quite the opposite it's a laid back and inviting bar. There is something wrong with the man that was working the outside bar tonight. We specifically asked if there was a tequila drink he recommended. He made a sub par margarita and said don'task what's in it. Went into the main bar. The bartender there made a somewhat better margarita but added something very sweet. After sitting there listening to the band and playing pool for a while we noticed that on their TV there was a fresh squeezed grapefruit margarita being advertised. Went outside and asked him why that wasn't offered he said he made us a margarita. I said but we asked if there was a good tequila drink they had. He then proceeded to walk away from me to wait on another patron. I said that was rude. I was in the middle of talking to you. I saw another man who was working there and told him that I felt the bartender was being very rude to me The bartender became very aggressive towards me and said I'm the owner and you are barred from here and I'm going to call the cops on you. I said to him why are you being very aggressive and he said I have other customers. Because I don't frequent this nasty place I could care less if I'm barred. I do care about the unnecessary intimidation from so called business owners. (If he really was the owner). I will make sure I tell every person I know on my FB page and group pages to not patronize this place. Get off your high horse dude! Side note. Inside bartenter should have also upsaled the grapefruit margarita too. Obviously he was too lazy to squeeze the grapefruit. Saw a basket of them just sitting there. This is an okay bar with some decent beer and liquor options. The bartender when I was there didn't even know that they had my preferred rye available. If you're in the area and need to get a drink and use the facilities, I'd go back, other than that, whatever. The best sound system in Delco for the size of the venue. The roast beef sandwich is as tasty as I have had, I like the place. If you,like local music, there are tons of talented people willing to share their knowledge and mentor the younger ones. Wednesday night is open microphone night, with a house band. Eesh, I'm suprised at the good reviews. I went a few times on Fridays for the live music (and the $5 cover). The acoustics are garbage, the bands are mediocre, the beers are average, the food stinks, the TVs are not really watchable where they are situated, and it gets PACKED. The crowd ranges from early 20s Delco people, chain smoking and drinking, to late 40s Delco people, chain smoking and drinking. Oh and it's a definite meat market...well as meat market-ish as a blue collar sports bar can be in the 'burbs. And the "famous" waitresses are...well, let's just say that I don't agree with the other two posters. Being an old bar the food was better than expected. My brother had a cheesesteak and I had the roast beef. I never tasted a better roast beef sandwich in my life. We were there in the daytime and everybody was sitting on the deck. The heat was a little much that day so we found that to be uncomfortable and then it started to rain. Hard. And the Gilligan Island roof they have was leaking everywhere. The bartender, a very nice, easy on the eyes female, encouraged everyone to go inside, which we did, except for a couple regulars who needed a shower anyway. The only annoying thing was this threatening injured-looking maintenance man who was walking around with a cordless drill and a hammer hanging signs up wherever we sat. We also ordered grilled gouda cheese.....Waited over an hour for this "special" of day. it also came out cold. By than we were STARVING so we just ATE it. We've been to Tom & Jerry's a couple of times for beers in the evening. I have three observations. 1) the loud music is not the best 2) the bartenders aren't the friendliest 3) the crowd is...unruly and obnoxious You'd think the pool tables would be a plus, but there isn't enough room around them to play properly. And the extent of the food I've tried here has been the dry, lukewarm pretzel bites with cheese sauce. Color me unimpressed. If this place billed themselves as a dive bar maybe, but as a sports pub...I'd rather go elsewhere. read more

Only reason I go to this place is it is equidistant for a friend and myself. The pub food is very good. Great carving station, the roast beef is some of the best around. The cheese steaks are very good. That is where the the fun stops. The owner, who must think of himself as a cross between Wolfman Jack, Andrew 'Dice' Clay, and Lenny Bruce, struts around the pub during TV commercials with a microphone. He is down right insulting and never funny (he must think he is). The real insult however; is after spending a whole day at the pub with 5 other people, and each of us had 2 meals and several beers, they charged us for re-fills on sodas and coffee. We always tip between 20% and 25%. But they piled an additional $25 onto our $140 check for soda and coffee re-fills. So, we assumed our waitress wanted us to give our tip towards the soda and coffee re-fills instead of towards her. Anyway, if I wanted to be abused by a legitimate comedian, I'd go to Las Vegas or Atlantic City and pay Don Rickles to do it. read more

I'm not a fan of sports bars. I came here on a Thursday night to see Weatherproof (http://myspace.com/weatherproofmusic), a Jersey based indie hiphop group. Lots of parking. I assume this place gets busy. Not that night, though. Walking in, I was flagged down for bringing my own water bottle. I went outside to sulk and feel sorry for myself. That's OK, though, because the smell of cigarette smoke was immediate (I had arrived close to midnight). When you walk in, you're in a small room where I guess they do ID checks and such. Turn left and there are tables on a wood floor, past that is the stage. There are two bars on the left and right side from the entrance. Both have lots of LCD TVs. There are booths that are good if you're gonna grab a bite to eat. The (female) bartenders and waitresses are very, very attractive. I see that on Sept 11, they're having a Bikini Party, and the waitresses will be in bikinis. The sound was very good. There is a TV screen to the left of the stage that was playing Animal Planet and it kept distracting me (I love AP). All in all, it definitely isn't a place I would go out of my way to chill, but if you're into sports bars and such, you would love this place. I wish I had tried their food, but it was probably too late for that, anyway. read more

Solid 4 stars for this great dive. They have great drink prices and free cover bands pretty much every night. The food is generally very good. Buffalo chicken dip and spinach artichoke dip is fantastic and all their soups are homemade. Their sandwiches are very good too. Only negative on the food menu is the burgers. They're very dry and the bread is too. Oh well. They lose one star because of their weird/varying drink price menu. Usually if you're sitting at the bar, you're fine because the bartender puts your drink in directly. However, if you're sitting at a table with a waitress, something gets lost in the mix and your drink price goes up for some reason. Example: Jameson on the rocks was $4.50 when i ordered it at the bar and $7.25 when i got it from our waitress. And their specialty drinks have the same thing. I went there 3 times over a 2 week period, got a fresh fruit mixed drink and it was $6.50 the first time, $7.25 the second time and $7.00 the third time. Not a big deal, but you guys should get your shit together. When i brought up the issue with the manager/owner, he could have at least pretended to give a shit or offer me a drink on the house, but the Delco was strong in him. We went in on a lark last night and didn't stay very long. It's definitely a sports bar - and had there been a big game I wanted to see, I might have enjoyed it more. As it was, it was trivia night, and while that was entertaining, the music they played in between was a mix of dreadful old stuff and passable new stuff. It was a very, very odd mix. And the food. I had such high hopes for their Cajun specials menu. In the end I ordered crab, shrimp and corn bisque. What a mistake!! I had only 1 and a half shrimp in my entire bowl. Which came out with skin on the top and lukewarm/chilly in temperature. How long had it been waiting for someone to remember that I ordered it?! Oh, and they charged me $.50 more for the soup than what was printed on the menu... AND WRITTEN ON THE WHITEBOARD. I don't really believe they changed the price in less than a few hours. Beyond that, there was plenty of crab and the flavor was nice. But for $7.50, I guess I expect more from soup. Like warmth. Other things of note: It's a non-smoking bar with a smoking lounge. Two bars, two sets of bathrooms, a stage for live music. Needless to say we didn't stay for the act. read more

We usually stop in on weekdays and the occasional weekends and every time we are greeted by the same funny amazing waitress. If it wasn't for the beefs we would still come out to have fun with her! You can tell everyone else around feels the same, before her customers leave she makes sure to give them a big ol hug and she makes feel like family. I wish I remember her name to give credit where due but all I got is she is there every weekday night we have come in usually tuesdays or sundays. The beer is nice and cold and the beefs are to die for!! The owners have a great place and staff on there hands hopeful next time we stop in I can get her name! Tom and Jerry's is the perfect spot to have a beer, listen to music (often times live!) and have some decent bar food in a relaxed, local setting. Draft beer during happy hour is a bargain, though it's very reasonable otherwise. Food is very fairly priced as well. And while the menu is limited, they seem to do what they do well. read more

After a handful of trips to TnJ's, I've decided at long last my fellow Yelpers deserved their fair warning... The other reviews give you a general idea of what to expect in terms of layout. Central area with tables, facing a large projection screen in which to watch somewhat muddled games. (Which has been my only reason to visit, as I have no idea why anyone would want to see a band here.) Long bars on either side of the room, surrounded by tv's, which I can at least compliment as they appear to be new, having replaced a mishmash of older tv's that offered your favorite player in every color of the rainbow. Outside the main room is the 'smoking lounge', where those in need of even less oxygen go to mingle. While I guess this is a nice convenience as opposed to forcing smokers outside, the smell of smoke escapes into the main seating area. My last visit required an immediate shower upon my return home with all my clothes thrown straight into the washer. Ugh. One of the original draws (for the hetero guy and not so hetero gal) had been the waitresses. Once upon a time they were all fairy tale good looking and truly on the ball. Well, the ball has dropped in both regards. While still reasonable, I would no longer venture out of my way just for the eye candy. The food is actually a bit better than average, having enjoyed the typical bar selections of nachos, buffalo tenders, and burgers. TnJ's is know for their carving station where you can ogle a large side of beef falling prey to the carving knife throughout your stay. The options from this station are probably your best bet, with your choice of the aforementioned beef, roast pork, and ham. Prices are also about average, so no real complaints there unless you decided you actually want a refill. Yes, our check included a charge for every single refill of soda and coffee. What an unpleasant way to end the evening. Overall, not so bad, right? Wrong. Hope to God if you find your way here you'll do so on a day the owner stays home. If you're unfortunate enough to catch him there (as you'll most likely be), pray his microphone is broken... Yes, he walks around the bar with a mic in his pocket, speaking his mind at every possible moment. During a football game, this leaves you at his mercy somewhere around, oh, 600 times a game. His asking of trivia questions may be acceptable, but his manner of doing so is just plain irritating. And if you're lucky enough to answer one correctly, expect a rare and thrilling prize from his collection of free promotional junk the beer distributors have left him. That Bud hat you've been longing for? Speak up, you may hit the jackpot! Our way too involved owner also feels he missed out on a career as a stand-up comedian, vainly attempting humor on that overused mic. Instead, his version of humor tends to lean towards simply insulting his patrons. I'm still rather amazed that no one has thrown their drink at him. So, between the smoke, the refill charges, and the owner who doesn't hear Florida calling for his retirement, I'd suggest one of the many other bars in Delaware County in which you may enjoy your game in peace. read more

I was at Tom and Jerry's last Saturday night to see Lecompt. Well my friends witnessed someone steal the bartenders tip off the bar and I had my scarf stolen out of the sleeve of my jacket. I know I didn't drop it I went around and checked. I even called the bar the next morning to see if anyone turned it in. Just happy they didn't steal my coat. So if your going here don't wear a nice scarf or even a coat for that matter and don't leave any money on the bar. I will not go back. read more

Soooo...I've only been here once since I moved to the Delco area a few monthes ago and all in all my experience was pretty good. However, there was the slight disaster of losing a button to one of my favorite shirts...and lets get reall where am I ever going to find a pastel purple button of the same size and texture but aside from that my only complaint would be how overly crowded it was. You had to practically fight to get to the bar and yes I agree that the girls that worked there were all very pretty but come on... it was just as obvious as it is at hooters how they picked their staff, which as a woman it would be nice for once to go to a bar where all the bartenders and waiters are extremely gorgeous men! :) On the positive side, the music and the atmosphere were awesome...just what one might need as a pick me up after a long day at work! read more

I love this place. Great food. I love the roast beef with sharp provolone and long hots. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly crowd! You don't find too many bars that serve great food and have a friendly crowd. Many bars on macdade can come with a younger rowdy crowd full of ignorance, this is not that kind of place. Took my wife here to meet up with a few friends from high school. we went to see this band but the band cut short because they were not happy about the pay the manager was giving then. 2nd the food was cold and disgusting as I was smelling raw sewage from a broken pipe upstairs from one of the apartments. I confronted the manager about the smell and he flipped out on me as I was taking a video of the broken pipe with my camera. He came over snatched my camera phone out of my hand and ran around the bar. Also putting 2 big deep scratches on my arm while taken it. My wife ran after him and got my phone back and as we were leaving he called the cops on me saying I was drunk. I only had 2 beers. But anyway cops took me to the station and asked me if I wanted to press charges on the manager, since they figured out I was not drunk and they heard my side of story. I showed them the scratch marks on my arm that were bleeding. I decided I had enough and went home never to return to this crap hole again!! By the way I never press charges on this idiot fat manager! Just don't let me walk into him on the streets!! People stay clear of this bar! Used to pass by every day thinking they look pretty run down. However I was dragged there on my birthday one year and was pleasantly surprised. The inside decor is nicer than you'd think, very sports bar. The drinks are okay, decent selection of beer. The servers are always attractive, but not always the most helpful; to be fair they're usually pretty young. The bar food is above average; for your best bet, keep it simple and order wings. They often have something interesting going on, UFC fight, live music, etc. You won't be bored, but you won't be wowed. read more

Neighborhood restaurant/bar on MacDade conveniently located off 476. Was here for the first time this past Sunday for the band Almost Fab (one of the best Beatles cover bands in the Delaware Valley - check em out at www.almostfab.com). A good sized patio deck (under cover) and two large bars inside. A big stage for bands. The food was good and drinks affordable. Service was excellent and the bartender was easy on the eyes as well. T&J's is not local to me but I will be back for sure when Almost Fab returns in the fall of 2013. Recommend. read more

My boyfriend got the roast beef & I got the hot ham sandwich; we were beyond pleased! The food was so good & paired with exceptional service, it was a great experience.
