They also referred to her as 'a case'....not your loved one, or even saying 'her body'. I was COMPLETELY taken aback that a funeral home that has multiple locations was not able to accommodate a quick viewing for me and my family members! ADND the person that I spoke to was EXTREMELY RUDE AND talked to me like I was from around the way....using ghetto slang! I was completely enraged and told them to NOT TOUCH my mom....I would have another funeral home come and get her immediately and have her taken to a funeral home that could accomodate us. Mays then told me that it would be a $500 charge for her overnight stay at their funeral home....$500 for her being with them for less than 24 hours...just no empathy or compassion at all! My neighbor said that Mays reputation is so bad that she would rather be left on the side of the road than to have them handle her burial.....and I TOTALLY AGREE! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND MAYS....But I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIVNISH FUNERAL HOME on Route 130! A TOTALLY different experience! They know how to handle people during a time of grief! J. and the entire staff of the funeral home. From the very first phone call placed to T. J. on April 4th, notifying him that my brother had passed, up to last week when we needed one more box of " thank you " cards, the service has been impeccable. T. J. and the staff were there to support our family in whatever capacity we needed. On our initial visit , the day after my brother passed, T. J. sat with us, in our exhausted and emotionally distraught state, and listened to what was important to each of us for laying my brother to rest. He went over every possible option from " A to Z " and took a great deal of time explaining the the details of each decision we needed to make. T. J. was accessible at the drop of a hat to answer any and every question my family and I had throughout the entire week of planning the funeral and the weeks following. Korinne was absolutely wonderful helping with all the details along the way ( video, readings, reminders, etc. ). When our minds weren't thinking clearly through the grief, Korinne did the thinking for us. She also met with us after the funeral and addressed very important topics that our family would be facing in the weeks and months ahead. However when inquiring about it as we prepared to lay my step-dad to rest the man we talked to refused to honor or refund the memorial as he claimed we already had it. Since he was difficult we decided to go to a different funeral home for our impending loved ones death. He angrily demanded us tell him who we had switched to and when we told him he scoffed "But that's a black funeral home!" I was beyond disgusted.
