Our last night in the Big island. Tomorrow we fly to Kaui. Sweet! Tommy Bahama Restaurant is in the Mauna Lani Resort. We wanted to sit outside in the patio but the sun was blinding. No problem. We were given a nice booth inside. We didn't want to order an entree because we didn't want any leftovers. I ordered the spaghetti squash which came with two half slices of toasted bread. Very good. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. Delicious. The tortilla soup was also good. We were given a free dessert, key lime pie which was my choice, that was awesome good. It came highly recommended from one of our sunset sailboat excursions -- we asked for a place with great food, a beautiful view, and the perfect vibe to celebrate a birthday, and this spot delivered everything. With a daily happy hour from 3-5 and within a few minutes of our hotel, we came down to check them out. There is plenty of parking in the lots surrounding the shopping village but the restaurant is located on the upper level. HH is only available at the bar so def grab a seat there if you can. The drinks were made quickly and were all very good. We ordered the filet mignon salad which unfortunately did not come out medium and was rare but they offered to fire it back up to correct the error. We came here on Easter for a dinner for the four of us and a visit to the bar and had a really wonderful time. The ambiance is stellar with views of the sunset, a feeling of being secluded in the forest with the restaurant positioned on the 2nd floor, and there was live music which was quite good. The staff were friendly from start to finish and really helped us out making selections off the menu and making sure we were taken care of. We tried their Mai Tai and Ms Sunshine for drinks and they were both tart and sweet and well done drinks. We got the famous coconut shrimp appetizer which although it was good was not my favorite coconut shrimp and not the highlight of the meal. We got the macadamia crusted mahi mahi and sanibel chicken, per the servers recommendations, and they even offered to split the plates for us to share. Both entrees were extremely delicious and hard for me to pick a favorite. Our kids got the kids cheese pizza and kids sliders and both were enjoyed and perfect for them. We finished the night with the chocolate torte which was rich and decadent and would be hard to finish with two people or less. We've eaten at Tommy's on the other islands and they were very good. This location was no exception. We stopped in for lunch and were seated quickly. It's a beautiful location and the restaurant was very nicely done. Our waitress greeted us quickly and took our drink orders. I ended having the ribeye with mash and broccoli. My wife ordered the fish tacos. We started with guacamole and chips. Very yummy!! And she had a bowl of crab soup which she thought was very good. The meal was delicious, along with the warm bread! We live here on island and come here at least once or twice a month and frequently for a special occasions. They change their special menu seasonally and consistently have new and delicious menu items. We love the ribeye, the crabcakes, and the goat cheese appetizer is to die for. The frozen Mai tais are excellent! Service is great, especially the bartenders and the managers Jason and John are extremely attentive and kind. They basically seated us at the back of the restaurant in the HOT SUN and WINDY conditions. They wouldn't open up the umbrella to shade our burning faces. AND THEY GAVE US A TIME LIMIT OF 1.5 hours!!! There were at least 5 empty tables indoors. They didn't even ASK if we wanted to be seated outside in the elements. AND NO ONE ELSE WAS OUTSIDE!!
