Every hydraulic hose was riddled with deep abrasions, kinks, and improperly fastened to the machine, seat held together with duct tape, the only rear view mirror appeared to be sourced from a car and held on with zip ties, plus extensive rust and collision damage all over the machine. Despite all the obvious signs to refuse delivery, I went against my better judgement and pushed forward with the job. Approximately 5 hours into my project the machine started to idle erratically and stall out. The fuel gauge showed 1/2 tank, but I figured it wasn't accurate and filled the tank. Idle went back to normal for another 3 hours and then the same erratic idle started again. I called Christopher to come take a look at it. He fiddled around in the engine compartment for about 45 minutes and told me there was water in the fuel I put in the tank. This problem existed before I put any of my fuel in the machine, but I smiled and nodded and pressed on with the job. I should have ended my rental right there seeing this is the type of person to blame others and refuse to accept responsibility for his own actions. Day 2 I start up the machine and there are no idle issues. Perhaps whatever he did fixed the problem. I get 90 minutes further into my project and the hoses that operate the grapple burst. Hydraulic fluid everywhere and no more functionality of the grapple. I called Christopher letting him know there was an equipment failure. His immediate response was that I must have been improperly operating the machine and that he expected me to go have new hoses installed on his machine. I even sent him photos showing that the damage existed at the time of delivery, but he wasn't remotely interested in determining the actual cause of the failure, or accepting any responsibility for it. I ended my rental 5 1/2 days short, project incomplete, and with Christopher charging me $180 for a hose that was in horrible condition before I even touched the machine. This is clearly a scheme to corner customers into paying for brand new parts for his equipment just because they failed while an unsuspecting customer had the equipment. DO NOT HIRE Christopher Babcock or Bigfoot Site Services LLC. He is incapable of recognizing his own deficiencies and is totally unwilling to admit fault or accept responsibility for his own actions in the event something unplanned happens. You will pay the price.
