Tommy was friendly and knowledgeable. I had an oil change a few days ago and my undercarriage came undone on my Honda Civic. He showed me what happened and how to fix it next time & put on new bolts. I appreciate that he went the extra mile to make sure everything was tightened including the oil filter & didn't charge me for the service nor the labor. What a great honest man! Thanks Tommy.

I've been waiting far too long for this situation to be resolved. There has been constant back and…read moreforth with no real accountability regarding my car being messed up after my visit. I used to come here all the time, which makes this even more disappointing. The day of service, I sat in my car with the window down the entire time while the two younger technicians worked on it. I did not speak to the store manager at all -- he was busy working on another car by himself. So when he later claimed he told me certain things about my car, that simply isn't true. I never even made eye contact with him. After leaving and driving a long distance, my car overheated. When I later called just to request a copy of my invoice, the store manager immediately referenced the review I had left and began saying I didn't have coolant when I was there. I didn't accuse anyone of anything -- I simply asked for my invoice. The defensive response was unnecessary. It gets worse. I was eventually told by my usual repair shop that I needed a new engine. I updated my Google review with this information and emailed corporate, as their response instructed. The regional manager then called me and said, "I want to make things right because I don't like one-star reviews." He even came to my home with coolant because it was low -- which makes me question whether it was properly checked or filled during my service like they claimed. He told me the other shop was trying to take advantage of me and said it was just my cooling fans that caused the overheating. That gave me false hope. To be sure, I paid out of pocket for another inspection at a different shop, and they confirmed that my car does in fact need a new engine. If there is camera footage from the day of service, I would like it reviewed to confirm what fluids were actually checked. The invoice also states my windshield was cleaned, and it wasn't. I overlooked that at the time because I care more about the oil change, fluids, and under-hood inspection. I drove away confident everything was fine because in the past I was always informed if something was off. I keep being told that if another shop states in writing that this damage was caused by their wrongdoing, they'll "take care of it." Why would another shop want to involve themselves by directly blaming a different business? I was even asked if the car is still overheating when I drive it -- I'm not driving it. I no longer have a working car. This entire situation has been stressful, expensive, and exhausting. I was a loyal customer, but this experience has completely changed my trust in this location.

I had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. After an hour and a half my car still wasn't finished. When I finally asked what was going on, I was told that the mechanic working on my car had simply walked off the job. What surprised me most was that no one had come over to let me know what had happened while I sat there waiting. Eventually I was told the car was finished, but I left not feeling confident that the oil had actually been changed or that the tires had been rotated. There was also no tread-depth information on my receipt, which I normally receive with a tire service. (I had requested that the tire pressure to be at 34psi, however, when I got home and checked it was still at 30psi). To their credit, they did not charge me anything for the visit, which I appreciated. However, my bigger concern wasn't the cost -- it was not knowing with confidence what work had actually been completed on my car. I called the following day with questions about the service and my tire pressures. During that conversation, the manager told me they had two employees leave this week. I understand that staffing problems happen and can put a business in a difficult position, but the lack of communication and uncertainty about the work performed was very concerning. This isn't about criticizing any individual employee. When you leave your vehicle with a professional shop, you need to trust that the work you requested was completed properly and that you'll be kept informed if something goes wrong. Unfortunately, after this experience, I no longer have that confidence. I hope they get things sorted out, but even though I wasn't charged for the service, this experience was bad enough that I would not bring my car back here.

Brian and crew are first rate, affordable, and actually bring significant value to their customers given their expertise! I purchased a 2026 Audi SQ8 Prestige from Audi of Santa Barbara here a few months ago. Sales process was absolutely first class, but my first attempt at having them service the car was an abomination ... I'll just leave it at that. This review is about Brian and crew at German Performance, some 40 miles (not 90 miles) from where I reside. I called them two days ago to examine and correct the botched installation of aftermarket ceramic pads I had performed by AOSB, and they took me right in yesterday; no hesitation whatsoever and diagnosed the problem, corrected it, and I picked up the car today. This, with their garage and engine bays absolutely packed with other cars. Going forward, German Performance will be my Audi service shop for all my 2026 SQ8 needs ... especially oil changes. I categorically disregard Audi's recommended oil change every 10,000 miles. IMHO, it should be every 5,000. Same with tranny fluid, etc., etc. Oh, BTW, Audi of Santa Barbara charged me $400 in LABOR for my break-in oil change!!!! German Performance will charge $85 going forward (with me supplying oil, filter, washer, plug, and turbo O-ring). A no-brainer to keep these guys close during what, will hopefully, be a long enjoyable driving experience with my new SQ8 Prestige! Highly recommended for my fellow Audi (and other German badge) owners here in SLO County and beyond!
