HEADLINE: A welcome oasis for servicing late model Audi's here in SLO County far, far away from Audi of Santa Barbara. Brian and crew are first rate, affordable, and actually bring significant value to their customers given their expertise! I purchased a 2026 Audi SQ8 Prestige from Audi of Santa Barbara here a few months ago. Sales process was absolutely first class, but my first attempt at having them service the car was an abomination ... I'll just leave it at that. This review is about Brian and crew at German Performance, some 40 miles (not 90 miles) from where I reside. I called them two days ago to examine and correct the botched installation of aftermarket ceramic pads I had performed by AOSB, and they took me right in yesterday; no hesitation whatsoever and diagnosed the problem, corrected it, and I picked up the car today. This, with their garage and engine bays absolutely packed with other cars. Going forward, German Performance will be my Audi service shop for all my 2026 SQ8 needs ... especially oil changes. I categorically disregard Audi's recommended oil change every 10,000 miles. IMHO, it should be every 5,000. Same with tranny fluid, etc., etc. Oh, BTW, Audi of Santa Barbara charged me $400 in LABOR for my break-in oil change!!!! German Performance will charge $85 going forward (with me supplying oil, filter, washer, plug, and turbo O-ring). A no-brainer to keep these guys close during what, will hopefully, be a long enjoyable driving experience with my new SQ8 Prestige! Highly recommended for my fellow Audi (and other German badge) owners here in SLO County and beyond! read more

Took our X5 to German Performance and was diagnosed with needing to replace the charge pipes and a brake flush. We opted to pass on the charge pipes for now and told them to go ahead with the brake flush. I'm changing the oil today and I find that the upper end of the charge pipes was not re-attached, so our car has been sucking dirt into our turbo for the past month. Also, the engine cover was just laying under the hood, not reattached. Two bolts on the underside cover plate were also completely loose, as if someone took it off and just put the bolts in a few threads so as not to lose them... but then they never went back. So now I'm asking myself about the brake flush that we paid them for. Guess what, absolutely no marks, clean spots or signs of contact of any sort. THEY DIDN'T DO THE BRAKE FLUSH THEY CHARGED US FOR!!! IS THIS EVEN SAFE?!? Sorry so emotional but the wound is fresh as I just found all of this in the last hour. Un-fukn-believable read more

I'm in such gratitude and appreciation of Bryan Rice and his crew at German Performance. I'm new to Southern Cal moving over from Northern Cal, I was actually referred to them by an employee at AutoZone. When I arrived, I was greeted right away and Bryan not only listened to my concerns involving my 2001 Mercedes CLK 430, but offered to check it over that afternoon if I had time. I was so glad they could take time to do that. I then made an appointment to have my steering damper fixed which they were able to do while I waited. It took no time at all. They went above and beyond by cleaning my motor mounts which were covered with hydrolic fluid, and determined the mounts were good. Recently I received a quote from a local BMW dealer for a repair when I brought it in for an oil change which was covered as part of my purchase (2 free years of oil changes...only reason I went somewhere else). I went to German Performance to double check the quote and they were 1.5k cheaper than my quoted price for the repair . They took the time to help, and direct me. What what I like most about German is that they will talk to you about your car and they listen to what you want to do. If you're like me and have a lot of experience with the various cars you own, they'll take your feedback and direction and do what you need to have done. If you have your own parts sourced, they use them and knock the work out and get back to you without issues. They can handle older and newer models including recoding for batteries and updates, etc. i have had transmission service, cooling, suspension, and battery work done in past 5 years. My 2018 BMW 4 Series w/ M package had a oil cooler leak. They fixed it and found another coolant leak which they ended up repairing too. Good price and repair time but reasonable versus going to BMW of SLO as they are money hungry. Bryan is good with his customers and reaches out to them after the repair. I highly recommend German Performance but don't recommend purchasing a BMW as their parts quality is so poorly made. read more

Returning from a family road trip, my Audi Q7 showed an alarm and the engine started banging just south of Atascadero. After turning the car off and on, I was able to get to German Performance. With no heads up and a full garage, they immediately ran diagnostics on my car. They went over the results with me and were able to tell me that I could make it back to the San Francisco area. They then told me that there was no charge. I was floored. They easily could have told me that they needed to do the work, but were more interested in helping me and then didn't charge even for that. As we exited the 101S from Monterey preparing to take 46E to the 5S to LA there was this disturbing noise. My husband slowly turned right into an Arco gas station and I immediately prepared to call AAA to be towed to America's Tires thinking it was a flat. Unfortunately it was not a flat . The tow truck driver said a bolt had broke connected to the brake. So then I hit Yelp for a mechanic and Yelp came through with German Performance who is ASE certified. I called and Brian was very professional and informed me that they could help but they closed at five. So by the time the tow gets to us in Paso Robles and drives to Atascadero the shop is closed. We left our car and took Uber to the Holiday Inn Express. Free a wonderful breakfast we Ubered back to German Performance where the assessed the problem, said it was an easy fix, just needed to order the part. They had to order the part from Volvo since it was unavailable at regular their sources, of course this added another day! Brian drove us back to Holiday Inn Express because it's practically around the corner from the shop! So on Wednesday afternoon our car was ready!! We had a complimentary late check out and waited for Brian to come get us(such great customer service). We left German Performance happy to resume our journey home with a bill that was much less than we had expected!! God's handiwork was with from breakdown to the fix up!!
