    WTF at Tommy's Place
    Matt W.

Great Urban Bar and club. On Wednesday nights they have Karaoke and weI never visit Chicago (From Detroit) without planning a trip there for karaoke night. Get there early as they fill up by about 11pm and they could double the 250 capacity if there was room! Have your legs streched and ready to dance as you'll be hip hoppin, booty droppin, and hot-body shoppin all night! The food is great, the drinks are priced to move and the dancers born to groove! I believe the Long Islands were $3!! Park in back but not next door where the failing shopping center suppliments their losses by towing cars all night! ($175 cash to get your car back) Expect club music and club songs so if your the stuffy oldies and slow R&B singers....well they'll still love ya but ya gotta dance! If ya sing slow stuff they'll pad the line-up with dance music so to keep the karaoke going just keep em dancing.

Birdies Sports Bar & Grill - The soda water charge... smh

GOLF simulation? Watch sports? And eat good food? Fore we go! A great place to do all three. Food…read moreis good. We got a trio appetizer dish w/ cheese sticks(packed with cheese), fried pickles and buffalo egg rolls(packed with flavor). I know I might get some kick back on this but the smoked wings tossed in maple bourbon sauce....had me feeling like I was at output(haha). The wings were good and fell apart off the bone as we picked them up off the dish. Pulled pork was good. And the steak bowl was packed with steak and flavorful, salsa was definitely on point. I couldn't see going anywhere else in the area for a bowl. Drinks were drinks. We kept it basic as it would for a dive bar vibe. Service was attentive and the servers watched your drinks as they walked by..... if you were quarter a way they'd approach to see if you need another round. TVs everywhere. If you love to golf they have about 7 golf simulator stations kinda tucked away but still in the mix. Golf was $40 an hour at the time of this review. I'd say this is definitely a neighborhood bar with great food. The only real complaint I have is we ordered tequila, soda water and lime. And when I got my bill they charged me for soda water. This was a first. Although not a big deal for me. Still a great time.

We've given this place multiple chances because the wings used to be decent, but every visit has…read moreleft us with the same impression: the customer service is consistently cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. The final straw was a recent visit when a policy was apparently enforced requiring customers to purchase two separate 6-piece wing orders if they wanted to split sauces. A 6-piece order is $10, while a 12-piece is $12.99, so instead of simply charging for an extra sauce, customers are expected to pay nearly double just to have two flavors. That makes no sense and feels like an unnecessary cash grab. When my friend politely questioned the policy--especially since we've been repeat customers and have split sauces on our wings many times before--the manager became defensive rather than trying to explain the change. She was told to come back on Monday to speak with "Jim." As she was leaving, my friend commented that the interaction felt rude and suggested the manager work on her customer service and body language, as the entire conversation came across as dismissive. The manager then responded by saying, "Just don't come back, bitch." Whether you agree with a customer's question or not, speaking to a paying customer that way is completely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. Based on our experiences, the food is no longer worth putting up with the service. If you're looking for a restaurant where customers are treated with respect, I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere. Especially if you're BLACK, considering whenever you walk into the restaurant/bar you are stared at as if there is shit on your shirt and you do not belong.

She was smiley and didn't seem like she was overloaded with requests, even though so many people were belly up to the bar. We took our drinks and found a table. As a vegetarian the menu is limited but I'm from the Midwest and expect this from a neighborhood bar. I ordered the Caesar salad. It was a traditional Caesar salad. My husband got the chicken wrap with tater tot's. Both were fresh and no complaints.

Lawlor's is one of the many such places around here if it wasn't already obvious. A little farther away from the Beverly bars and hangouts. The menu is basic and there's pretty good prices. Basically we walked over here after hitting a few other of the area bars. It's actually in a new location. The older one used to be located closer to 111th and Pulaski. It was a true dive. This one though is a lot more modern looking. Has the same drinks but with food that's also edible. There's still a charm to it though. It's about $5 to get Jameson. There's also plenty on tap. It's about $7 for the Pretzel Bites. Kind of basic with a side of cheese sauce. I used mustard. The rest of the menu has meaty items like pork chops and things like that. Good place to come hang a bit. It's in a new location about a mile away from the old one. This is worth checking out getting away from the more popular places on Western.
