Kind and very accommodating when I had a "need by" request for an upcoming trip. Quality work.

This tailor is good an detail-oriented, though expensive. The clothes returned pressed, which is good.

They called me this morning to confirm I still needed assistance with an alteration and sent a follow up message! Open communication has been GREAT and even provided a ballpark price quote! Very happy with them, and havent even brought my dress in yet! **CONTINUED** I am beyond impressed with this business. Long story short, my apartment complex lost my dress I ordered for my brothers wedding and I was scrambling to find a dress days before flying out to CA for my brothers wedding. I brought the dress in Friday afternoon, like 1:30/2PMish and had to bring the dress in significantly (ended up finding a dress last minute on FBMP a few sizes too big) and it was ready Tuesday evening after work! Its like it was originally made that size from the company! Beautiful work, flawless execution of this alteration. They had transparent communication around what they were gonna be doing and to say I am impressed is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I am shouting praise from the rooftops for this business and please dont keep hunting for dry cleaning/alterations.. THIS is your place!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Saber Cleaners & Alterations and will not be…read morereturning. My dress was taken to Saber simply because it needed to be cleaned. The dress was in good condition when it was dropped off. When it was picked up, it had a new dark mark and was noticeably shorter than it had been originally. I have before-and-after photos, the original purchase receipt, and cleaning receipts documenting this. We immediately brought the dress back and were told they would speak with the cleaner who handled it and get back to us before doing anything further. I followed up in writing with the information we were promised, but that communication never happened. Instead, I eventually received a text saying the dress was ready for pickup. When I picked it up, it was still shorter and still had a visible mark, although it is now wearable. I calmly explained my concerns to the owner, and the interaction became extremely upsetting. Rather than listening or trying to resolve the issue, he became increasingly defensive, aggressive, and confrontational. He repeatedly insisted that the dress had been covered in stains and spots when it was brought in. That is simply untrue. The dress had been inspected before it was dropped off, and none of these alleged stains were ever mentioned during our multiple, previous interactions. As I calmly explained this, his tone continued to escalate. When I said I would be leaving reviews based on my experience, he essentially told me to go ahead and go, saying he had received negative reviews many times before and was still in business. The way I was spoken to as a customer was completely unacceptable. I was trying to understand why my dress had been returned damaged and why the communication we were promised never occurred. Mistakes can happen with delicate garments. What matters is how a business handles them. Here, the dress was returned in a different condition, the promised communication never happened, and when I tried to address it calmly, I was treated disrespectfully by the owner. I would strongly caution anyone considering Saber, particularly for an expensive, delicate, or sentimental garment. I will not be returning

Originally my mom and I looked at another alteration shop, but when we called them, they informed me that they were inundated with requests through January and could not take my request on. The owner suggested Ann's Alterations as they had availability to take on repairs at this time. It's located in the same plaza as Harris Teeter and the All Around the World Cafe. There's not a ton of parking, but if you go during a non-peak time, you can find a spot. The shop has two dressing rooms for trying on the items you need altered or have been altered. Usually the team at the shop wants clients to try on their items and come out to show the tailors what needs to be tailored/fixed. In addition to the pants, I brought a skirt with me for mending. (Another tailor tried to take in the skirt but assembled it together with lumps in the side seams.) The pants were an easy repair as only a couple of inches needed to be removed for shortening. The skirt required the head tailor to come out to see what needed to be fixed. She said the seams would need to come out and she would fix the lining too, which was bunchy and creating some of the bulk in the side seams. The pants were a slight rush job (I say slight as I was asking for them to be turned around a week versus longer.) The skirt was no rush. After a week, the pants were finished and they were perfect. The skirt was finished a week or so later and that was better than ever. The skirt was deconstructed so the side seams were smoother and lined up better to make the pattern look continuous/consistent. Prices weren't expensive - $12 for shortening the pants which was reasonable. They do very good work and it is worth it. I've left a pair of jeans with them for shortening and would use them again if I was in town and needed alterations.
