Not my cup of tea, from personal experience. This place is physically hot, greenhouse hot. Be prepared to sweat when you come in. The windows and plants I brought my pants here to be altered. They had my pants for a week, when I went to pick up my pants, they went searching everywhere for them. They then told me, they had not even been touched. read more

I had a dress altered at another shop where I asked them to try and take in the mid-tummy section. $200 later, I picked up my dress and they hadn't touched the tummy section because "it wasn't possible and that is the fit of the dress." I then took it to Alert Alterations, which is in my neighborhood. I explained what I wanted and she told me it was totally do-able. I just tried it on it is now PERFECT. They did a fantastic job. I went here because of the rave reviews and here I am leaving one as well . My son needed his suit altered for a recent wedding and the seamstress was wonderful at handling a very active 2 year old . He wouldn't stand still , he wouldn't try on the jacket properly, she didn't get flustered once and didn't care when he wanted to throw a cute tantrum in the middle of her shop . She even tried to offer him a piece of candy to calm him down . The price was $34 for her to adjust the sleeves, hem on the pants , and waist but it was well worth it bc it fit him perfectly and I'm amazed. She's obviously been doing this for so me time bc she could just look at him and tell where she needed to cut . I will definitely make this my go to spot for anything I need professionally done . This place is AMAZING!! I was looking for emergency alterations and needed 1 day service for a cheer uniform skirt. I also had some other pieces that needed to be done but not as a rush. I was pleasantly surprised when I called just to see what time she thought would be a good pickup time and she said it was done. I was amazingly shocked when I arrived and not only was the one piece I needed rushed done but all 5 pieces were done! I really presented a challenge with one of the pieces and she even got that one done too!! I got my wedding dress alterations done here and they did a fabulous job! They did everything In a timely matter. I went to another alterations place and they said it was impossible you alter my dress because it was a big size change from like 16 to size 4, and they were able to do it! If I could give this place negative 5 stars i would. these people are basically criminals who took my money and refused to give me a refund when i was extremely unhappy with how they "fixed" a $140 bridesmaid dress for me. Also, every person i talked to spoke in broken English making it impossible for me communicate but super easy for them to brush me off. I went here to have a bridesmaid dress altered for a wedding i was in. The dress was several sizes to big and ask the women who pinned it up if that was going to be a problem and she said "no problem." When i picked the dress up a week later i had my 1 1/2 yr old son with me and i tried on the dress and it seemed to fit alright. I asked the women if it could be taken in a little more in the waist and she said "no it's okay." i was in hurry and had other errands to run and a fitful toddler with me so i took the dress and left. A day later i pulled out the dress so that i could try it on with the shoes and everything, when i tried to move my arms forward the entire front of the dress gaped open and my chest was hanging out, not to mention that the sleeves were way to tight and she had originally refused to take it in more in the waist so it didn't hang right. I went back in to have it fixed and the women tried to charge me another $42 on top of the $48 i had already paid for alterations. Now, if they had offered to fix it for free then maybe i wouldn't be leaving this review right now but that is not what happened. I decided against having these criminals fix my dress and ended have to pay someone else $75 to fix the dress in time for the wedding. Their seamstresses must be very inexperienced because whoever altered my dress, took ALL of the extra fabric out of the back panel of the dress instead of equally out of the side seams like any normal person would do. When i asked for a refund i was told no because she did what i asked, No, she did not, I asked to speak to a manager or owner and was told no they are no here and that i would have to come in on Saturday after 12 to speak to the owner. Well i was out of town at a wedding that day so when i returned I called and spoke to a different person and was told that i could come in on the following Saturday after 12 to speak to the owner yet again. Before i could even do that, i received a phone call from that same person who said they talked to the owner and that i would not be getting a refund. The also proceeded to argue with me and cut me off when i speaking saying that they've been there for 20 years and have many happy customers. Well i am a very unhappy customer and as long has they already got my money, they could care less. Basically it comes down to the fact that i was extremely unhappy with the work that they did and had to pay someone else to fix what they screwed up and they refused to give me my money back and never even apologized for the fact that i was unhappy. Terrible customer service, terrible alterations, rude staff, absent management, all around this is an awful place and i wouldn't even recommend this place to my worse enemy. read more

If you live in the area, this is a great place to get take any alterations you have - I've been going for 3 years and always take my pants to be hemmed or any other miscellanous things I need sewn. (It should go without saying I don't remember my home ec skills onthe sewing machine). They are really fast (usually get things within 1-2 days) and their prices are really reasonable. This place was HORRIBLE. DO NOT GO HERE. They charged a ridiculously high price $136 to hem and take the sides in, of a brides maids dress, and it was still way too long and big. The people were very difficult to understand, and they were not nice at all. I had friends got to other alteration places, having the exact same alterations done to the exact same dress, and they were charged a max of $70, and their dresses fit perfectly. I have had other brides maids dresses altered at other locations, and the cost was maybe $50. Now the bottom of the dress is ruined because it was too long, and they took 2 weeks to alter the dress so I did not have time to take it elsewhere before the wedding. read more

I want ever go back there because I felt as if the lady just made up prices. I bought a blazer in there for a 5 year old to be altered and she wanted to charge me 75 dollars so when I said I would just shorten the sleeves she went up higher because I decided not to get it taken in . Well I went next door to them to Chan's alterations which is also a cleaners and paid half the price plus they pressed it . I hate places that get over on customers just because they can . I would not recommend alert just go a few doors over and you will get reasonable pricing. read more

Worth the drive!!!!! I had 7 layers of princess to hem on my daughters flower girl dress. The bride wanted this dress and they didn't make it in a small enough size for my little girl so we had to buy the smallest size then have it altered. They did an AMAZING job. The lady ended up taking up the shoulders too. I was so nervous because there were so many layers in the skirt and a lot of intricate seams she would have to work on. I picked it up and had my little girl try it in right there in the shop and it was perfect. Beautifully done and perfect in every way. They also do the alterations for several dance studios in town, so they are pros at formal wear alterations! read more

I just had my first experience with Alert Alterations and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I dropped off very complicated "Infinity Jumpsuit" that I am wearing in my cousins wedding. I made it clear that I needed a small miracle performed. Apparently small miracles are nothing to them. They did an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING job! The alterations were extremely clean and professional. The prices are very reasonable. I have used alert alterations for at least ten years. They do great work. The issue I have is the lack of friendliness by the younger receptionist who works there. She is the most sour person I have ever paid my money to. I have to greet her and tell her to have a nice day for the most part. She just exhibits a very unpleasant disposition, so much so that I am going to take my business someplace else. A pleasant greeting and thank you come back to see us would make me feel like she appreciates my business. I dread going in because I know I'm going to have to deal with a deadpan facial expression along with a personality deficit! The older lady, who I think is her Mom, gives friendlier customer service. The last time I was in, I smiled and greeted the younger receptionist but when I left, I said, no more. Not paying for her coldness and steely look anymore! read more

While the prices are reasonable and they are quick, I've found that they do almost everything by machine. Some things need to be done by hand. I took an expensive cocktail dress in to be hemmed, and they did it by machine! Recently I took something in for a simple repair where the material had torn, and they botched it first by not doing exactly what I requested and second by using the machine.
