    Mushroom pizza slice

I came here with a friend as part of Rhode Island Food Fights pizza month. We ate in the restaurant and got a piece of pizza each and split a slice of cake. The pizza felt sort of nostalgic. It had a thicker, crispier crust and a high cheese to sauce ratio. The chocolate cake slice was really good. It was rich and satisfying. It was better than the pizza, so if you're coming in, I'd recommend it. They also had some cookies, brownies, and cheese cake if chocolate isn't your thing. The woman at the counter was really funny and nice. It does seem like more of a take out spot than dine in, but there are a few tables, and some holiday decor. There's also a small parking lot, which is very convenient.

Second leg of today's RI Food Fights "Lord of the Pies" was Tom's Kitchen in North Providence. It's a cute little spot with a HUGE menu to seating ratio. They just started serving slices, so this was a way to test out the waters. Slices were hefty in size and weight. Pepperoni was cuppy, as God intended. It was good, New York style with a slightly off-putting sauce, a little too much cheese for me and a nice, golden brown crust. Overall a 5.0 score for the cheese pizza and 5.5 for the pepperoni. The garden salad with house made vinaigrette was an 8.5 , however and is a good reason to come here. There's a large menu, and I would give this business another shot on a sandwich based on everything I saw, smelled and ate. It's a nice little business with friendly people. Try it out.

3.5. Some of the pluses it was very cheesy. The sauce was garlicky and it was a decent sized slice. Not as good, the crust was ok and the bottom of the pizza was soft and doughy. I like a nice crispy slice. It was also super greasy. The inside was like a typical pizza joint. The service was ok. We needed to wait 20 minutes for the oven to heat up before putting in our order, even though the place opened at noon.

Their calzones are super super good and filling. This time I ordered fish and chips and it was ehhhhhh. The fish looked from a frozen pack and not much flavor. The fries were popping but the cole slaw was also ehhh. The veal pesto burger was pretty good. I love pesto so I love it on almost anything. So good They were pretty fast with having the order ready and there was ample parking :)

The weekdays are easier to get a table or bar seat. I love all the burgers, wings, hot dogs and shakes (Boozy or regular). Cons: I basically love everything on the menu EXCEPT the crinkle fries and the taco salad. (The crinkle fires I never liked but I am starting to see them more in some bars. They seem to not as crunchy as the regular fries and hold more grease including being more mushy then crunchy as mentioned before. The taco is like a Salsa salad which greens and Salsa. The taste is not bad but it becomes a wet salad). Pros: Everything else on the menu fantastic! My favorites: Turkey burger , mushroom burger, providence burger bar special, chili cheese hot dog, fried Mac and cheese, Strawberry Shake with a frozen fruit INCLUDING the Garlic Parmesan Buffalo wings. The only place I know can do hot dogs this great besides wieners from Olneyville and Babbas! Service: Incredible and friendly service. Only on the weekends service becomes wicked busy due to the number of crowds. One of my other favorite spots! :-)

Chomp is one of those Providence restaurants that I keep finding myself coming back to, even after…read moretelling myself I should probably try something else on the menu. I've eaten my way through quite a few things here over the years, and while there are plenty of good choices, I keep coming back to the Smokey and the Bandit smash burger. At this point, I probably know what I'm ordering before I even sit down. There's just something about that combination that keeps winning. The food here is consistently good. Everything I've had has been fresh, hot, and full of flavor, and the kitchen seems to have that part figured out without making a big production of it. The menu has enough variety that you can come in with different appetites and still find something you want, but it doesn't feel like one of those places with a menu the size of a small novel where you need twenty minutes just to decide what you're looking at. The beer selection is another reason I enjoy Chomp. There's enough variety to make choosing a beer part of the experience rather than simply grabbing whatever happens to be on tap. Prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which is increasingly something I notice because restaurant prices have a funny way of creeping upward when you're not paying attention. The location is another part of the appeal. Chomp sits in a great little part of Providence where you can easily make an evening out of being in the neighborhood. There are plenty of other restaurants, shops, and places to wander around nearby, so it doesn't feel like you're making a special trip just to eat and then immediately getting back in the car. Tonight, though, I have to give a special shout-out to Bella, who was our server. She was outstanding. Friendly, personable, attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful. She suggested adding bacon to my Smokey and the Bandit, which I probably wouldn't have thought to do on my own. I'm very glad she mentioned it because it was an excellent call. Sometimes the best recommendations are the simple ones, and she nailed it. One piece of advice if you're planning on coming here: make a reservation if you can. Chomp can fill up quickly, and given how good the food is, that really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It's the kind of restaurant where people come back because they already know they're going to have a good meal, and I'm certainly part of that group. Five stars from me. Great food, good beer, reasonable prices, a fantastic Providence location, and genuinely good service. I've tried enough of the menu over the years to know that Chomp has plenty of options, but apparently I'm still incapable of walking through the door without ordering that Smokey and the Bandit. Add Bella's bacon recommendation to the list of reasons I'm going to keep coming back.

After reading the stellar reviews, we decided to try CHOMP Kitchen and Drinks on Mother's Day…read more Since it was late, we ordered dinner to go. We both ordered the Classic Smash Burger, one with cheese and one without. Unfortunately, both burgers were utterly tasteless, with virtually no seasoning detected at all. The Chomp Sauce that was supposed to elevate the burger was so sparse it barely made an appearance, leaving the burgers bland. Honestly, the bun was the best part. The brussel sprouts I ordered also lacked flavor and seasoning aside from the char, and his Cajun fries were so salty they were nearly inedible. After driving from Massachusetts to Rhode Island as a special Mother's Day treat, it ended up being a very disappointing experience, especially given the overwhelmingly positive reviews. We may have caught them on an unusually busy night, but unfortunately our meals fell far short of our expectations.

The owner was very nice! My friend and I came and had several questions and he answered them all…read morefully and we were able to order accordingly. The great thing is he describes the food so well that his descriptions are on point. For example, I didn't know what a cheese curd was so he described it... I was intrigued and decided to order it on the side and it was on point. He couldn't have described it better. I think that's really important in this industry... to be able to get accurate answers to Qs, especially when we're dabbling into something new. So my friend and I both got burgers. He got the dirty burger (with a dough boy on the side) and I got the big mac. I can't speak much for my friend's burger other than it looking and being HUGE and heavy... it was definitely protein heavy and I know he had to sit at home and enjoy it because it would've collapsed in his car lol. I, on the other hand, went to a park to sit outside and enjoy my "big mac." It was delicious. Nearly every aspect of it was seasoned and they worked well together... The mac n cheese was well cooked/seasoned, the breading used for it was seasoned well, the burger meat was not only well seasoned but also cooked exactly as I ordered it. A+!   I was so stuffed from the burger that I couldn't eat all my cheese curds. Fortunately, because they're "crunchier" than mozzarella sticks, I was able to enjoy the rest later when they were cold. I will DEFINITELY be going back to try out more of their menu items. A huge perk for me is their location (on Valley Street near Price Rite). I like how it's an easy to get to location with ample parking.  I literally cannot think of any cons. The only small "con" that I wouldn't take a star off is that the food was so good that I am confident people would definitely want to eat this food after a club/party yet this truck closes at 10 PM. Maybe in a few years they can extend employment to have someone take over the trunk in a night shift. I am confident business would be booming for them as their delicious food would help people sober up after a great night!!
