    a slice of pepperoni pizza
    Tim C.

Second leg of today's RI Food Fights "Lord of the Pies" was Tom's Kitchen in North Providence. It's a cute little spot with a HUGE menu to seating ratio. They just started serving slices, so this was a way to test out the waters. Slices were hefty in size and weight. Pepperoni was cuppy, as God intended. It was good, New York style with a slightly off-putting sauce, a little too much cheese for me and a nice, golden brown crust. Overall a 5.0 score for the cheese pizza and 5.5 for the pepperoni. The garden salad with house made vinaigrette was an 8.5 , however and is a good reason to come here. There's a large menu, and I would give this business another shot on a sandwich based on everything I saw, smelled and ate. It's a nice little business with friendly people. Try it out.

3.5. Some of the pluses it was very cheesy. The sauce was garlicky and it was a decent sized slice. Not as good, the crust was ok and the bottom of the pizza was soft and doughy. I like a nice crispy slice. It was also super greasy. The inside was like a typical pizza joint. The service was ok. We needed to wait 20 minutes for the oven to heat up before putting in our order, even though the place opened at noon.

Their calzones are super super good and filling. This time I ordered fish and chips and it was ehhhhhh. The fish looked from a frozen pack and not much flavor. The fries were popping but the cole slaw was also ehhh. The veal pesto burger was pretty good. I love pesto so I love it on almost anything. So good They were pretty fast with having the order ready and there was ample parking :)

Being in a pizza community group means I'm always craving pizza…read more Living on the north end of Providence, I have my fair share of choices. But there was one spot nearby I hadn't been to since November and it was high time I went back. That place is Zesty bites. They're located on that last stretch of Smith St before you cross over in North Providence. I always manage to find street parking in the front but there's more around the corner as well. Imad was in there cranking out a HUGE catering order! There were covered pans everywhere, ready and waiting for the client to come and pick up. But that didn't stop Imad from taking a moment to shake my hand and ask how I was doing lately. I didn't want to take up much of his time as his Friday night was just kicking off but he is genuinely a warm and friendly person, you can't help but smile when he smiles. I took home a Pesty Chicken, house pesto with turkey bacon, onions and chicken, plus a hefty slice of his gorgeous baklava. After my 5 minute drive home I got to it immediately. The pesto is herbaceous, salty from the Parmesan. The turkey bacon is not what you find Butterball making but rather, this was of a much higher quality and was an actual piece of sliced meat instead of a formed amalgamation of ground turkey. All of those ingredients sang while being supported by the incredible crust. I don't quite know how to describe it. It's light, fluffy, but crispy. Crunching into the crust scratched a part of my brain I didn't know needed it until I bit into this little slice of heaven! The baklava looked as good as it tasted. Sweet, spiced, and it had this deep flavor I can't quite put my finger on but it's probably top 3 best I've ever had. If you haven't visited Imad and his shop up over on Smith Hill, then you are missing out on a unique and delicious experience. 10/10, great pizza. Great food all around, no matter what you get you'll love it!

Imad runs this small spot in Providence where incredible Lebanese food and pizza coexist. His pizza has that perfect char on the crust, brilliantly simple sauce, and genuine hospitality that feels completely natural, not performed. So when this year's competition rolled around, I came back. Twenty-four places into this month's pizza marathon, we needed to know if Zesty Bites was a one-time thing or if Imad's really doing what I thought he was doing. Turns out, he is. Of course he is. The crust still delivers. Crunchy exterior, chewy interior. Imad's dough artistry hasn't changed. His sauce is fresh and flavorful, built from simple, super fresh ingredients that deliver big taste. No tricks. High quality cheese and pepperoni blend together for a pie that just delivers a little bit of magic to your mouth. Same five tables. Same warm welcome. Imad's still treating customers like they are family who just walked in, not like he's checking boxes. After twenty-four stops this month, you start noticing which places coast and which ones stay consistent. Zesty Bites is consistent. No drop-off. No shortcuts. Just the same great pizza Imad was making a year ago. That's a lot harder than it sounds.

Unfortunately, I was very dissapointed in the large Margherita pie I ordered this time around. The dough was brittle, the cheese didn't taste all that fresh and the rest of the ingredients (sauce and spices) were just OK. It's always dissapointing when a restaurant lacks consistency and leaves you wondering what happened? Is it the cook at certain shifts, carelessness, different quality products? I don't know, but this place may be worth a try if they could output the product I had during my first visit. The pizza was dissapointing, but the wings were good. It tasted fresh, very crispy and hit the spot. The wings definitely saved the overall meal which is why I gave them a 3 overall, but the pizza was like a 2. The other stuff - I called in and was put on a long hold. The employee I spoke to was a apologetic about the wait and was overall pleasant. I've been inside this restaurant and it's quite small, so taking out may be a better option. -ODL Connect with me! IG & YouTube: @AOEAT

Upon recommendation of our delightful server Kobe, we opted for the Hot Mess: ezzo cupping pepperoni, piri-piri sauce, fresnos, queso fresco. Pizza is Detroit style & the edges were perfection, I could have used a bit more sauce but the piri-piri drizzle was fire. We both had a glass of wine. We were in the mood for a nightcap.
