Quick service, really good food, affordable. We came in around 6 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately, we were given chips, a red salsa, and a green salsa. The green salsa has no spice to it which is a great touch considering some people do not enjoy spice, as well as kids can eat this salsa. Our order was taken and shortly after our food was delivered. I ordered a fajita burrito with steak, it was massive. The burrito was filled with steak, onions, peppers, rice, and beans. It was covered in a red sauce and some sour cream. It was delicious, filled me up. Others at the table enjoyed their meals too, they were delighted with the amount of food. The bill was brought and the cost was very reasonable for the amount of people. Overall, really enjoyable restaurant with good service and great food. read more

Salt on salt on salt. I have always loved pollo a la crema, but I just couldn't believe how salty my dish was. I'm big on the cream, but I just couldn't eat the whole thing. Not impressed with the pollo a la crema here. I also think it was rushed -- I saw some pink in the chicken which is why I'm giving this place 1 star. Not a fan of the chipotle lime and honey chicken wings. Although it came with fries, I didn't like how it was overly drenched with the heavy sauce and it had no hint of lime at all. Great food and service. Our server, Juliana, was so responsive and such a sweet heart. I loved the salsa so she made sure I had plenty by bringing me two more little bowls to go with my chips. Always good! My husband and I have gone here for years, and almost always get the same thing - Shrimp burrito. We continued ordering takeout during covid, and even in styrofoam, the dish is always perfect! We love their salsa verde, and I love the Bloody Mary's as well! Last time we went, we decided to try something different, and it was still amazing! Large portions, we always have leftovers. I look forward to trying other dishes on their menu. I also went to their bar for drinks with my dad once, and the gal running the bar was so personable and sweet! The saddest chimichanga I have ever been served. Plain dry beef in an oil soaked deep fried tortilla, served on plain iceberg lettuce and warm sour cream that becomes a soup. The take out fajitas did not have any tortillas, even though I was asked to specify which type I wanted. Bar service was fast and friendly. I've dined here many times, not sure how I haven't written a review yet, so here goes. This place has been a solid addition to the local restaurant scene since the day it opened. We often drive roughly 15-20 minutes from our place to dine here, driving past three other Mexican restaurants on our way, with two more a much shorter drive in the other direction. The decor is decent, it's clean, bright and inviting. I wouldn't call it unique, it's a Mexican joint after all. Having been here many times I've tried several different menu offerings and have yet to be served something I was unhappy with. Some of my favorites include the Tonala Burrito, Molcajete, Tres Amigos and of course the Street Tacos. Being from Texas it's hard for me to pass up tacos. The service has always been good, but I'll temper that with the fact that I've been here plenty and a couple of the wait staff know me. This place has been on our list of favs for a while now, I always recommend it. Like I said, this is our choice every time out of the 6 choices for Mexican food that we have in the Parkland/Spanaway area. read more

Very hard working and cared enough to stay to help us know what some of the ingredients were in recipes so we could order something new to us. Their recommendations & the way my chile rellenos in particular came out is perfection! This is authentic Mexican food. It's not chain restaurants or ones that started authentic & slowly changed, nope! They have kept the same service, similar pricing, quality of food, & wonderfully large portions. The chile rellenos are made the old fashioned way, the more complicated, more steps recipe which makes them my fav Mexican restaurant now. I went to El Toro religiously with family growing up and sometimes mazatlan, whenever we wanted Mexican food. Esp for larger family gatherings. I do love them as well, it just sucks that the prices went up so high & many menu items changed once they opened up otter locations. If you know that style of home cooked Mexican food with love and you have also had authentic Mexican food from a food truck, Tonala lands in a category best of both worlds. It's also a lot closer to my home and for guests, there's usually no wait for a table & food comes pretty quickly. I certainly hope they get as much business as poss bc this place is a gem that most don't realize is there. (The restaurant appears quite small from outside appearing to be a very small restaurant & looka pretty vague but simplistic & the front of the restaurant is quite deceptive. It's much larger inside & had many dif tables & a bar, bathrooms and a large kitchen area. If you're in Spanaway near bethel station, getting food here is a great option. Our bill on my son's birthday recently was less than the visit to taco be a week later. Let's boost their business. They're worth it & I wish them the best success. After a day at Rainier and on our way back to Seattle, we were starving and stopped here. It didn't look like much from the outside, but it is so good! Great service. The wait staff was attentive and efficient. The portions are huge. We split among ourselves which saved money and we still had left I strongly recommend the molcajete, but honestly everything was wonderful. It is authentic, great tasting Mexican food. We regularly (I refuse to say the actual number) get food from this place. Usually takeout, and it's ALWAYS perfection. It is hands down the fastest service for takeout in the area...this place is our fail-safe. The chicken enchiladas are simple and delicious, the street tacos (recommend the chicken asado and the chorizo) are absolutely perfect...the salsa they come with is HOT but chipotle smokiness gives it a flavor you won't be able to resist. The masterpiece...is the Guac. GET THE GUAC. A scoop won't be enough, so order the side. You'll be glad you did! Their salsa verde is the best around, always fresh, always the perfect combo of salt and acid. I ask for an extra in the bag, and they never hesitate to double check or throw in one more, just in case. read more
