This office is horrible. The staff is rude and the doctors gaslight you. Twice Dr. Mascia misdiagnosed my kids and one of my kids actually has a tumor and is now under treatment at Roswell. I want that man no where near my kids! My son had to go in for a sick visit today and was turned away because we refused to see Dr mascia. I would give 5/5 except for the sometimes but not every time attitudes at the front desk. Sometimes it feels like there is an undercurrent of superiority or disdain and other times things are perfect in every way. Any doctor I've interacted with has been great both for their interpersonal skill and their medical. The last objection I have is their phone menu changing at 5:30 to say that the office is closed when the website says they are open till 6pm. It's bad enough to close the phones early but the droning annoying loud mans goes on and on about how great they are without giving any real information on leaving a message which I wanted to do. I pressed Zero and what a mistake that was, it just started the mans annoying too long message to start over. I'm sure whatever management reviewed that message on the office is closed message either didn't listen to all of because they were in a hurry or they enjoy having their ego stroked. It doesn't matter what the message says if it is too long and too loud done by a well spoken person it has no immediate option to leave a message or any option but to sit and suffer being subjected to a non-functional drone on how great TP is. I have long disliked the phone menu sound and length of the message here but the last straw is calling when office is supposed to be open and then being unable to accomplish anything constructive. I will bet that any business that specializes in professional construction of the public face in that field would find plenty wrong and would coach that speaker to do many things differently with the actual menu. Not open during the published hours mm Having an annoying voice on the message. Having a barely functioning menu with no option that is easy to navigate Erratic front desk attitude. I have a 5 and 4 year old. I have been taking them to Tonawanda peds since my oldest was a newborn. I have always loved and recommended them to family and friends. However, this year there has been a huge shift in their work in a negative way. I had many concerns with my daughters health and I felt like they weren't listening or taking them serious. This led us to an overflowing hospital visit and confirmed sick diagnoses. When I called Tonawanda Pediatrics to talk about what happen, I got nothing but nasty remarks. Once again not listening or providing the care they use to. It is very unfortunate, I feel like they truly cut corners with my child's health. read more

I have been very happy with the care that my 2 children have received during doctor visits at Tonawanda Pediatrics. I have always had polite interactions with the office staff as well. But the current process to get a sick appointment is very frustrating. To get an appointment, you first talk to a nurse who decides whether or not you can come in. We are typically not given an appointment until days 4-5 of being sick. The school nurse sent my son home from school pretty sure he had strep...and I still couldn't get an appointment (she was right--several days later we got an appointment and an antibiotic). My son also recently had the flu, and by the time we were able to get an appointment, the window for antivirals had already passed. I'm not sure if there aren't enough doctors and nurse practitioners to see the sick kids or if there's another reason for this, but I am researching other practices as a result. It's worth noting that this was not a problem pre-Covid. There used to be a morning walk-in clinic for sick kids, so I could always see someone if I felt it was necessary. read more

My son is uncircumcised and they seem to know little to nothing about proper care for uncircumcised babies. You are not supposed to retract foreskin before baby is one and the nurse, Angela, practically yelled at us over the phone for not doing so when we called about a question with our son. They also pulled it back at the office. Doing this can cause scaring and infection and now he has a uti because of their poor care. I'm sure this place is great if you choose to circumcise or have a girl but if you keep baby intact, don't take him here. We will be switching once there is an opening at another pediatrician we have researched. read more

I have been very happy with Tonawanda peds. The offices are clean and beautiful. Dr. Evelyn Hurvitz is our main Dr. there. We never feel rushed. She answers all of our questions and is happy to give us advise. I find they are very prompt. I would highly recommend this group. read more

The doctors at this office are fantastic, but the office staff are terrible! Cancel appointments without calling, rude receptionists, no hours outside of regular business, and the list goes on and on. If you don't care about the way you're treated by the rest of the staff this is the office for you. If you don't mind your children bearing witness to unhappy receptionist giving parents attitude and laughing when appointments are inconvenient, this office is for you. It is such a shame because the providers here are very talented but many patients are driven away by the office team. People are paying money to receive patient care and end up leave feeling defeated and frustrated. My advice, find a office but it's well man read more

My two wonderful nieces were going to this pediatrician office and they totally love it. So when I had my baby I thought I will preregister her beforehand and I did the right thing! Doctor Marcia was with us since very first day of birth, he even went to hospital to check my newborn daughter!!! I love the location and staff, they never disappoint u) read more

I have taken my children since 2001 when my first child was born. I would never go anywhere else. Over the years we have had a couple good scares one with our infant son being admitted to Children's Hospital. They where with us every step of the way even at the hospital they stayed involved with the doctors at the hospital and with us. Thomas Szalkowski knows my children and has a very comfortable and relaxed relationship with them. I can't say enough wonderful things about Tonawanda Pediatrics. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this pediatrician's office. While searching for a doctor for our son, my husband and I went to an orientation for a different pediatrician's office in Williamsville and we found it to be quite cold and uninviting. We weren't impressed. I started asking around for a recommendation and Tonawanda Pediatrics was recommended to me by multiple people. They seemed to have a really awesome reputation. So, we took their word for it and never bothered to go check it out or set up an orientation. When we had the baby, one of the doctors came to see us in the hospital. I loved her! She was super friendly, down to earth, and intelligent... all very important qualities to me. They scheduled an appointment for us, to take the baby to the Robinson Rd. location, for the day after we were released from the hospital. At that appointment, we saw a lactation consultant. I had already seen multiple lactation consultants in the hospital and didn't feel like I really needed to see one more. However, she ended up being the best one yet! I think that if it weren't for her, I would not have been as successful with breastfeeding as I ended up being! I highly recommend Kerri Nixon, PNP! If it weren't for the fact that we want our little boy to have a male Dr., we probably would've continued seeing her for as much stuff as we could. She was great! SO much attention to detail and so personable. We saw her for the first couple visits before we switched to the East Amherst location and started seeing Dr. Justin Kanaley... who is AMAZING! Dr. Kanaley is the perfect Dr. for our family. My husband and I completely trust him and value his opinions. It's obvious to us that he keeps up with what is going on in the medical field and is clearly an intelligent and thorough Dr. We've been taking our son to him for all of his well visits since about 2 months. Today, we had our 9 month check up and Dr. Kanaley was so great about answering my huge list of questions and I really appreciated him explaining everything to me in terms that I can understand. As far as the rest of the staff, we've had nothing but good experiences from everyone. This place is awesome. Our son will grow up with this pediatrician and I feel like we're really lucky to have found such a great doc/practice! I was scared of my pediatrician growing up! I'm SO thankful my son doesn't have to be!!! read more

I LOVE Tonawanda Pediatrics BUT.....I do not care for Dr. Mike (Dr. Heimerl). The man is absolutely condescending. Upon entering the room, he did not knock to let us know he was coming in. He does NOT smile whatsoever. He is not kid friendly and didnt interact with my daughter (who is 8). He basically asked me the same questions in different forms. My daughter supposedly has asthma and I questioned that saying that I dont hear wheezing. He responded..."Do you have one of these?" and he proceeded to wave his stethoscope at me. Wow. Then when he gave me her diagnosis, I asked if there was anything else I can give to help her with her cough. He said "You can give her anything you want but....it wont help her." He said that several times to me. I love the other physicians in the office and this will be the LAST time I see this man. If you are going to be in pediatrics, learn how to interact with children and be respectful of the parents/guardians. Horrible, horrible bedside manner. I give the office 5 stars but this man doesnt deserve even one. read more
