We come here often, they have great beer, service and a great atmosphere (for the most part). Reason for the 3 stars is....THE KIDS. This place is becoming the new chuckie cheese. While I don't mind kids sitting at a table with their parents, what I do mind is sitting at an outdoor table with my wife and having rocks being thrown at us by little kids thinking it is a playground (NUMEROUS TIMES). I've seen children digging holes in the ground, toys all over the place, screaming, yelling, running, throwing rocks, etc. again, I think bringing kids is fine so long as they aren't acting like wild animals and disturbing the adults around them. This is a brewery, for adults to enjoy adult beverages, not a playground or daycare. I think it's only fair there is a "curfew" for when kids are allowed. This way parents can enjoy a beer while bringing their kids, but also adults can enjoy time at a bar without having rocks thrown at them or have kids screaming and yelling in the background as if it were a playground. Would love to give 5 stars to this place, but the whole daycare thing is really a bummer. read more

Opened in 2022, the Barrington location is vastly spacious compared to their Oaklyn location. Outside seating is available both front and rear of the building, a large bar counter and lots of indoor tables. The brewery facilities, behind large panes of glass is visibly impressive. Tonewood has beer that's really good! A menu is projected on a wall and printed menus can be found all along the bar counter. Staff tending the bar are knowledgeable about Tonewood's on tap selection and are able to match your preferences to one (or many) of their varying types of brews. I gravitate towards hazy IPA's and chose Down Tempo, a double IPA, with notes of strawberries, mangos, and tropical fruit detected on the pallet. For a change, Canyonwalls, an amber ale was next. How have I not mentioned anything about this place yet? My hubs and I come here every so often since it's one of our fav local breweries. The space here is great (although for those who want a little escape from kids, this is def not the place??). We hung out with friends recently for my hubs big bday and everyone kept mentioning how it was very family friendly (although we were all glad to have left our kiddos at home haha). Beer is great. We visited the Barrington location on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the Oaklyn location the week prior. Both spots have great beer options, but Oakyln has more of the experimental stuff while Barrington seems to have more of the "greatest hits." Both have a great vibe, but this one is definitely MUCH bigger (2 bars on the main floor and an upstairs seating area!) and louder. There was a mix of ages, including parents with young kids and folks with dogs. I appreciated the child friendly family restroom with a full changing table. They do not sell flights, but you can order 10 oz pours if you're not sure you want to commit. I really loved the coffee Porter and the Halcyon IPA (we bought 6 packs of each to enjoy at home). There is a parking lot, but given the popularity of this spot, it fills up quickly. We were there around 2 PM and it was already packed. I look forward to returning in the spring/summer to enjoy their outdoor space! read more

The beer here is good don't get me wrong. However, if you want to sit, this is not the place for you. Every seat is taken by a child with a tablet. It's a brewery. I think many of the patrons would appreciate less children. Maybe a cutoff time? No kids after 4pm or something? It's kinda insane. read more

BARRINGTON: Tonewood Brewing's other location is truly a sight to see! Absolutely beautiful, modern, open, spacious, and leashed dogs are allowed inside the tasting room and at the outdoor garden. It is a magnificent space right downtown and we can see many parties happening here. Some beers are the same as the Oaklyn location, and some are different, so you have to visit both, haha! Hmm... this is my third trip here and I can't believe that I've not left a review or comment. Oh well. This was the last stop for my son and me on our Saturday afternoon brewery crawl. This is where our wives and my granddaughter joined us. It's my son and granddaughter's favorite brewery due to its proximity and spaciousness. For me, it has the absolute best HC parking location l've ever encountered. The building is a huge modern beer hall with a large outdoor space. Plenty of drafts to choose from and lots of lots of employees to accept orders. Today it seemed terribly more crowed than during past visits. Came by here on a Sunday afternoon on the way back to NY. One of two locations for this brewery, with this particular spot being newer and incredibly spacious. While they did have some food options, nothing looked very tempting. Decided to stick with the beers - starting with the Mona Citra ($6 for 16oz). An obvious citrus forward hoppy ale that's creamy on the pallette. Next on tap was the Improv IPA ($7 for 12oz). Strong double IPA that's juicy from the start and lingers through. Since we didn't get the food available at the bar, opted to order in from a nearby restaurant which they're totally cool with. Despite the large place, there aren't many bartenders to serve anyone. This means a bit of time before getting drinks. Fine spot to visit if you don't mind a detour. read more

We were here for a 40th bday surprise party. The staff here is awesome. There's no food served so nothing to report there. If we're being honest I like the oaklyn location a bit more because it's more quaint. Overall the place was clean and so were the bathrooms. My only complaint is it was so hot inside(loft area). We mostly dealt with Ivy. She was very accommodating sweet and personable. No doubt we will be back not because of just great beer but because of great service. Finally stopped in tonight to check this place out. Unfortunately for me the beer list is mostly IPA, but I found something I liked. We were sitting at the bar and at 9:15 they decided to open the side door and start breaking down their patio. It's 40 degrees out and they just left it open while they cleaned up at 9:15. It was so cold I had to leave my beer on the bar and check out at 9:25. I won't be back anytime soon. Bad first impression for me. read more

We met about 15 people here to celebrate a birthday. The beer is good and the building is large with big tables and outside seating. You can also bring your own food so we ordered take out and had it delivered. We were a little disappointed that they did not have any games, but the bartender working allowed us to bring our own corn hole set in and helped us move tables which we appreciated. It was a Thursday night, so a few of us were interested in watching the football game. We were given the cold shoulder when requesting they put the game on their projector because they apparently only play Philly team games. The teams playing were the Cowboys vs Giants which is a division game so we thought that was a little odd. We would have stayed and spent more money but we decided to go to the bar across the street where they were playing the game to finish our night. Nice large space (especially in this pandemic world), people are pretty friendly, and more open than some breweries as far as windows and layout. I haven't had a lot of look with some of their beers, but the fact that you can see virtually all of the operations from the elevated area shows me they're confident about their operation/cleanliness, etc. The parking situation is a little all over the place, in that they have a tiny lot which is a drag, but there's lots of free public parking across the street/across the road. I want to start off by saying this is a great place. The people that work there have become our good friends. They are both professional and personable and provide great conversation each week we stop in. While I love all their beer Fuego by far is my go-to every time. Now here is the part I don't like. I think the management of the children needs to be addressed. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen which can easily be avoided. I've seen firsthand, many times, an employee trying to address a problem with some parents NOT managing their children. The parents are belligerent and feel entitled. It has to stop. On certain days every high-top table is filled with leftover food, diaper bags or kids toys and not paying customers. I personally had to run to the top of the steps to the upper level one Saturday to grab a child standing on the bar stool leaning over the handrail trying to retrieve a balloon. If I hadn't grabbed this child he would have fallen to the first floor. Not a parent in sight. Another time I witnessed a 3-year-old wandering the sidewalk at the curb!!! on Clements Bridge Road. An employee had to retrieve this child. Again, not a parent in sight. This is a Brewery, not a daycare. If you are going to allow children you need to start listening to what people are saying. It seems to be falling on deaf ears. read more
