HADDONFIELD: King's Road Brewing Company has two locations in our great state and we will be talking about the tasting room in Haddonfield. The other location is Medford. Leashed dogs are allowed at their outdoor beer garden! What is great about being outside is that it is fully covered from the top, so you can enjoy the space during all weather and all-year-round (heaters are installed too). A server will come out to take your order and there are a variety of beers to enjoy! There is a nice selection of beers/seltzers on tap and even non-alcoholic selections. You can bring your own food from one of the places in downtown Haddonfield. Haddonfield is famous for having the first nearly complete dinosaur skeleton to be discovered in the world! I'm a Mug Club member in Medford, but was in Haddonfield for an appointment, so I decided to stop in to Kings Road for a couple of beers prior to dinner. The location is prime being right in the heart of Haddonfield. It's surrounded by shops and restaurants, and the vibe is great. There is plenty of outdoor seating, some being out front on the sidewalk and lots more in the back of the brewery. I sat at the bar since I was here by myself (my fiancé was at her appointment down the road). The beertenders at King's Road were all so friendly and were such a pleasure to talk with when they were not busy pouring beers. I definitely don't have enough positive things to say about the entire staff as a whole, some of which I've met at the Medford location as well. I had three different beers, two of which I was trying for the first time. I loved them all but High Heavens, a Hazy Imperial IPA, was my favorite of the night (and could be my new favorite KR beer EVER). The other beer I tried for the first time, Noble One (Kölsch), was also very enjoyable. I ordered that in place of Beach Party since it kicked earlier that night. I finished up with Black Musket, an Oatmeal Stout. I do routinely order this beer in Medford so I already knew I was a fan. They even had some non-alcoholic options (a beer and mocktail) to choose from if you're driving or you avoid alcohol! I had a great experience here at Kings Road, especially for being by myself, thanks to the personableness of the beertenders. I definitely recommend stopping in for a couple beers if in the area. A great brewery with a great vibe! A lot of options, albeit two or three that we wanted to try were not available to try. Due to a festival they had going on, they weren't doing flights either. We came during a summer festival so they had live music and some food trucks around. I had a double IPA, which was absolutely delicious and our server kept coming back to check in and get refills. Oh this place is in an awesome spot, I like the ambience a lot being in a little town like this. Very clean and seeing them clean nooks and crannies was a plus. Now the beer, I had a flight and the black musket was my favorite. I even grabbed some beer soap to go which has been used daily. Other Merch there is awesome. I don't know how a dry town in NJ pulled off getting a brewery but I'll take it! In addition to being a brewery, the spot itself has a nice pub feel. I think they are going for an England feel but it's just a nice spot. They are byof (bring your own food) friendly and there are so many restaurants nearby to pick from. In each of my visits, they've had a type of beer or two for every taste. I prefer IPAs and they usually have several tasty ones. I'm so happy they are here and wish King's Road a long legacy in Haddonfield. read more

This was the fourth stop for my son and me on our quest to try five breweries in one Saturday afternoon. It was the most expensive for four 5 oz pours. Seats were at a premium. We each ordered different flights and shared. The "black musket " was a standout. The other beer and stout pours were okay...just okay. Our flight attendant was patient and helpful in helping with our choices, making sure we did not duplicate. It was extremely crowed and noisy. We soon left. Parking was a hassle. read more

We love this brewery and their beers. Fast, friendly service at the tables. Large outdoor area in back. Large selection of beer, no food, but plenty of places to get take-out nearby. My only problem with this place is the weather inside. Once it was a cool, rainy, windy and humid day, yet they had the front and back doors wide open making the place damp and windy. Just recently, during the heat wave, same thing happened with the doors, and the AC didn't stand a chance. We think some patrons open the doors too wide and they stay open. Gotta fix that somehow with a keg. Lots of parking nearby, down the street that is next to the brewery. They have another nice place in Medford, next to a bbq place and an ice cream shop across the lot. read more

This review is for the Haddonfield location as I have yet to visit the Medford location. Full disclosure: I live less than a mile away and I'm a huge beer nerd so I'm here all the time and might be a little biased. I was one of the first customers at the bar the night they opened the original location in 2017, and I've been coming back regularly ever since. I absolutely love this place. Pros: Great location. Right in downtown Haddonfield. Take a break from walking the streets and windowshopping and pop in for a pint. Great tasting room. Lots of seats. Great ambiance. Immaculate bathrooms. A few TV's where they occasionally show live sports. Bonus for history nerds: there is a table made out of an old tree from the revolutionary era here. Nice cozy little beer garden out back, with lots of additional seating at picnic tables. Part of this area is under a large tent in the event of rain. The beer is excellent. So much variety on tap, and they seem to release something new almost every week or two. They are constantly pushing themselves to experiment with different styles. Not all of it is perfect, but there is almost never a beer I have outright disliked, with some real standouts that I have never had elsewhere (the Gordian Knot comes to mind, an ancient ale brewed with "beer archaeologist" Dr. Patrick McGovern). Incredible staff. Super friendly and knowledgeable. They do an incredible job of connecting with the community, whether giving shoutouts to neighboring businesses, creating cross promotional deals, using local history to name beers, or using local ingredients in their beers. They lift up everyone around them and help make Haddonfield a better place. Like most breweries, they do a lot of fun events like live music, trivia, and a stein holding competition for Oktoberfest. Cons: It can get super crowded on weekends and even some weeknights. Almost impossible to get a seat sometimes. Don't know if it's a state rule for breweries or something but they only serve plastic cups in the beer garden out back. I hate drinking beer out of plastic cups like I'm at a frat party. So, overall a solid brewery that you should definitely check out sometime. read more

Stopped in on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for a beer. I had never been here before and I work five minutes away! What's really nice is they have outdoor seating out back. We sat out there after ordering our drinks inside since it was so nice out! There were lots of families outside with babies and kids. We were able to find a table and enjoy a few beers under the tent part of the outdoor area. My stout was good! I'd like to go back and try some other beers. read more

A decent little brewery located in downtown Haddonfield, right off of Kings Highway. There is parking right next to the brewery, this is free on week nights and weekends. We sat out back at the picnic tables. A few fans would have been nice, it was a bit warm, but tolerable. However, we could've went inside and sat in the air-conditioning. No one was sitting inside. They also have seating in the front if you want a Kings Highway view. They serve cold beer which is very good. But I had to drink all my beer is in plastic cups. I think they should be using regular glasses like they do in Germany!! Seemed family oriented as I saw folks eating pizza and having a good time. read more

King's Gold - one of the lighter ones but I always enjoy Helles, and has a good flavor Fall of Phaethon - similar to Helles, I enjoy Amber Ales. You do get the hint of chocolate but has strong malty tones Almost Normal - Even witb it 20 IBUs, this was still a little bitter and hoppy for me since IPAs are not normally my cup of tea. However, if you do normally enjoy enjoy IPA, you might enjoy this Black Musket - Although only 6.2%, it wasn't heavy per se but it was very bitter. I usually enjoy stouts but way too bitter for my tasting. Cute set up though, and enjoyed the ambiance. read more

Wonderful local brewery in Haddonfield. We were on a random daytrip to see the town, which is steeped in history, and decided to make the brewery one of our first stops. There are a couple of high top tables (or barrels?) out front, a beautiful tap room inside (where revolutionary war reenactors sat sipping their pints on the 4th of July), and a pretty relaxed little beer garden out back. We have a couple of IPAs--Straight Fire (West Coast) and Ample Vengeance (NEIPA)--both competently done. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't have food, but stepping outside to the nearby pizzeria was easy enough. Staff was pretty attentive. read more

These beers are pretty strong (for a beer) so you have a nice time for a good price. It's BYOF, I've gone across the street for some fries to share w friends to load up for those trivia questions. This place was poppin' for a Saturday afternoon. My boyfriend and I came here around 2:30 and there were only 3 empty tables left. Staff was super friendly and helpful. This place is a bit pricey though. You get four flavors for $10 in a flight. The glasses are a bit bigger than other places I've been at though. Snacks are ranging between $1.50-$8 but you are allowed to bring your own food in to eat. I'm more of a cider person but my favorite was Sweetum. It was a stout but tasted very light. Plus the name reminded me of parks and rec haha. read more

Update: Kings Road just reopened last night (the night before Thanksgiving 2019) in their larger more roomy digs right next door to the prior joint; more room, some new tries, pluses and minuses: Taste: still some bland offerings, but the Sour was spot on with lemon and passion-fruit notes, no defects; Service: friendly crew but completely incapable of handling a crowd; Decor: same layout as before but more fore and aft seating, good attempt at the post steam meld if old timber and new nickel; they have mugs hanging from the ceiling that you can claim by number- also, the bigger space invites a bit more unruly a crowd; Price for quality: fmv for micro; Beers: Imperial IPA, a Pale, a Saison, and the Sour with a few others I already forgot (sorry!), but one big detractor: they obviously clean the glasses in a bleach bucket, and the smell ruins the aroma of the beer... idiot rookie move, and they really need to learn that this is a sin. read more

This is a such a good brewery with a very cool location. Great beer, perfect spot to hang out at on a weekend afternoon to do some day drinking. The tap room is an excellent place to sit inside, and the patio outside is great for enjoying some beer and people watching. I've been impressed with their selection of beer styles both times I've been there, as it's more than your usual lineup of IPAs with a stout or sour thrown in for good measure. Nope, there's something for everyone here, and I especially enjoyed the Czech Dark Lager on my last trip. Looking forward to my next foray into Haddonfield, this will be a must-stop. read more

We only had one each. We were there for the craft festival. I had the Kings Gold Lager and my son had the Cooper Trail and both were excellent. The establishment itself is right on Kings Highway E in the beautiful downtown of Haddonfield. It's big enough and they have a nice outdoor area. It's definitely more like a bar compared to most breweries we've been to. But I welcomed that. Definitely stop in for a beer if you're in the area. read more

Haddonfield's first brewery! I come to Haddonfield several times every year to visit husband's family. My husband and I were super excited to hear that there will be a brewery coming to this 'dry' town. It's really nice to be able to grab a beer while shopping or before dinner downtown. You can also bring in your own food if you are hungry. We've been here several times and it's been great! It's welcoming, casual, cute, and cozy! The service is friendly, prompt, and the bartenders are knowledgeable about all the beers and the process of making them. My favorite beer here so far has been the Ample Vengeance, an IPA. However, all the beers I tried so far have been great. I'm excited to try some new beers next time we are in town. read more

Great beer, great atmosphere, and just overall great vibes!! Haddonfield is just a great town to check out in general and this location is right in the middle of the downtown area surrounded by shops and food! COVID times... of course with limited indoor seating, can take a while to grab a spot. We were there when the weather was still nice out and got a spot outside in the back and just enjoyed the afternoon trying out some brews. Unfortunately, they didn't have flights butttt out server was awesome and let us try some before committing! And surprisingly.... I liked one of their IPAs!!! It was subtle on the bite scale and the flavor was quite enjoyable! Thank you to our server (I'm sorry I don't remember your name) but he had suggested it to us because we were telling him about not being a fan of IPAs but he wanted to change our minds haha. I've been pining to have something of the sort in Haddonfield. That's right. Beer. Kings Highway has a nice, new nano-brewery decked out with beautiful custom wooden bar, beer taps, and bench areas as well as some custom lights. The ambiance here is cozy and welcoming and their beers are quirky and quaffable. It's not a big, industrial powerhouse and they're still developing their name, styles, and beer but the few owners and bartenders here are super friendly, helpful, and add to the overall great experience I had at Kings Road. They serve a good variety of beers (see pictures) as well as their own root beer and water (Haddonfield's finest xD). There's no food but plenty to eat in Haddonfield and what's cool is that they have their own canning machine. So for those who are looking to bring some craft beer to your dining experience in Haddonfield or come for a drink following lunch or dinner, go to Kings Road! Growlers to come soon. They're currently only open on Fridays and Saturdays all day but I hope to see them expand their hours and grow into the Haddonfield downtown. Cheers! read more

I love this place! I have never come here and not had an amazing time. The beer is great, the vibes are great, the people...yup...great. I love a great IPA, their Blazing Rag is my go to. King's Road is also participating in the Resilience project. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the Resilience Beer goes to help the fires that have been devastating the West Coast. I hold these independent breweries in such high regard, you don't see the big companies doing anything like this. Drink local, support these fine folks. King's Road is such a warm, friendly place to hang out in downtown Haddonfield in between going to all the many restaurants and cafes there. Haddonfield was a completely dry town because of its Quaker roots. I'm not sure how a brewery was carved into an exception, but it luckily was. The crowd in Haddonfield can be a little high brow at times, and some of those people do come to this brewery to hang out. However, there are many other types of people who also come. The staff and owners are very welcoming, and down-to-earth, too. The space is beautifully done. It has an English pub atmosphere. It's on the smaller end of breweries, but it's just perfect for its purpose. The beers are better than I expected. I thought that they wouldn't need to try as hard on the beers because they would do such good business because of the prime location. Nope! The beers are just as sophisticated as anywhere. Even the more serious craft beer enthusiasts will be happy here. read more

If you want to go out and relax after a long day or long stressful week--forget it! The places turned into Chuck e Cheese meets brewery or Brewery Romper Room. Went there Friday night at 5:30. Could not get a table. There were more strollers and people with babies and toddlers. My friend wanted to leave immediately was disgusted with the number of kids. I forced her to sit at a table of 10 with 2 families at it, the kids were coloring but started fighting and running around and parents yelling. We chugged our beers and left. There were 14 small children/toddlers taking up seats when we left never mind navigating the strollers. Please, please, please have someone open up a brewery tasting room for 21years old and above. I guarantee you will be packed. In the meantime we're looking for another hangout where we can just chill without small childrenx read more
