Updating my review because I tried more dishes! I ordered carryout over the phone and my husband picked it up for some dinner with our friends. I got pad thai again-- YUM. We each got an egg roll and the sauce that came with them was not like regular sweet thai chili-- it was far more flavorful. I loved it so much. We also got Massaman curry-- which I had been wanting to try. It was simple, but tasty and had a good depth of flavor. My 1 year old devoured it. We also got curry fried rice, which we'd had before, but it was even better than I remembered. The delivery service was quick and pleasant, but the good experience ended there. My wife had the Pad Thai and I had the Yellow Curry. The noodle were burnt and my curry was so bland that it tasted more like water. The ingredients within the curry were cooked well; the potatoes, carrots, chicken and onions, but there just was no flavor. It's as if the curry seasoning was diluted so much that it became watery. I ordered take-out from Tong's Thai today, and was really impressed!! The restaurant itself was roomy and bright. It's a medium-sized restaurant: big enough for, say, a family of 6, but not big enough for a larger gathering. The hospitality is phenomenal, and started with my phone order. He was pleasant, took his time explaining the spice levels, and helped me feel comfortable with my choices. Once I arrive there, the waitress had my order ready, and had a relaxed chat with me throughout the process way above and beyond just getting our business conducted. The impression was a hands-on business that takes the time for each customer. The pineapple curry I ordered was authentic and tasty. The pineapple and the vegetables were all freshly cut, and the shrimp was very tender, plump, and delicious! I would warn about the spice level though. I ordered a level 2 (from 1 to 5), and it was a little too spicy for me, even though the dish was wonderful (at home I added some cream to modify the spice level, and enjoyed it all!) I also ordered the garlic pork, and found the pork to be extremely tender. This spice level was perfect, even though it was also a level 2, probably because it wasn't a curry. I love that they have the option of brown rice with both entrees, and they both come with complimentary egg rolls. I also absolutely needed to order the spicy salmon roll. And "spicy" it was -- Kroger's spicy mayo has nothing on the topping they used for this. And the salmon was sushi-fresh, and delicious. I also ordered the fried tofu, which was perfectly fried and beautifully presented, with a sauce I'm convinced was made in-house from scratch. This restaurant was recommended by one of my property managers. It was so good that I went twice in one week. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The restaurant is decorated with nice art work and currently tons of holiday items. The price point is perfect because you will definitely get more than one meal out of your order. Large portions! Both dishes had so much flavor. Be sure to ask for extra sauce that comes with the spring rolls. It's the perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and tangy! Best sauce I've ever tasted at a Thai restaurant! The ambience was good. It was like a mom and pop shop and the service was good as well. As for the food, this was my first time trying Thai food, but not sushi. I got lunchbox number three and my sushi seemed room temperature in the tuna was a little discolored but other than that it was really good. Will be back to try again. We are regulars here. They do an awesome job with carryout. We enjoy both the sushi and the thai dishes. We love the basil ground chicken and the panang curry. We have tried most of the menu both sushi and thai items and have been happy with most things. Their pricing and portions are fair too. The only thing I wish was better was their tom yum soup, i find it sort of diluted tasting. But I love their appetizers like spring rolls and crab rangoon. read more

To be totally transparent, my dinner was ordered through DoorDash. I typically wouldn't do a first time review on a DoorDash order, but my gripes about the food are unrelated to how the food was obtained. After seeing Tong's pop up as a new option, I spotted the Crispy Pad Thai on the menu and knew I had to try it! Crispy Pad Thai is a staple of mine, with Bangkok Bistro having the best in the city. I ordered the chicken Crispy Pad Thai and an order of Crab Rangoon. First the Rangoon... they were strange to me. The use of one wonton wrapper and then presumably baking them, makes them feel very flimsy and fragile. There wasn't much substance at all for what works out to be about $1 a piece. They came with a strawberry sauce that tasted like strawberry sundae topping warmed up. It felt like a very lazy excuse for a dipping sauce. Next up was the Crispy Pad Thai... the dish looked delicious so I dug right in! My first thought was that the noodles were pretty dry. Typically there's a bit of sauce to them, but these were bone dry. A couple of bites in and I start to notice a very bitter taste. It hits me that my noodles were actually just burnt. I was so bummed out and I tried a few more bites, but the burnt flavor permeated throughout the whole bowl and I had to toss it. This place seems to get really good reviews, so I'm hoping this was just a bad night and that I'll have the opportunity to review this again with a much higher score. read more

Wanted to experience a new Thai restaurant and went away disappointed. I ordered a bento box that had vegetable Pad Thai and salmon roll. The salmon was that of frozen quality which tasted off-putting. The Pad Thai lacked in flavor that one would expect from Taiwanese cuisine. A friend of mine had bento box number seven. Again the teriyaki chicken did not meet the expectations in flavor and the rolls were mediocre. Basic Thai dishes that was rather underwhelming, not good. read more

I live an hour away and was very excited to be in town to pick up my order for carry out for my employee at work. When we started to eat it the food appeared and tasted terrible. We ordered pad thai, crispy pad thai and soup. I was told the soup had great flavor. I was not impressed with the pad thai at all and honestly have no interest of going there anytime soon. The food was very dark in color and the crispy pad thai was almost black. It tasted as if the oil had not been changed and had a terrible flavor. My expectations were humbly exceeded after eating pho from Tong's Thai. I ordered the vegetable pho noodle soup, so it was spectacular even though it didn't have any meat. The broth was rich and spiced with actual spices, like cinnamon and star anise. As far as I could tell, there wasn't any MSG either, which is rare. Also ordered was the yellow curry, which was similarly sufficiently spiced and very coconutty. I personally found that it was too sweet for my taste. I would order it with half the sweetness next time, if it's possible to. It was still good though. I will definitely be returning to Tong's for future pho fixes. read more

Welp. Hers a story all about how my life got flipped turned upside down and I'd like to take a minute let's sit right there. I'll tell you how I experienced my Tongs Thai affair. Well. That was probably the most interesting part about Tongs Thai. From the outside. The parking lot and shops look in a disarray. But that's not their fault. I tend to try not to judge a restaurant by its cover. That's as far as I got. Our meals were mildly runny but not on the border of soupy. And the noodles were not so much smell. But not appetizing in the least. I relished myself to the fact that I'd only be eating the meat but that's okay. In summary. If Gordon Ramsay had walked out the back I would not have been surprised. We moved to Loveland and found Tong's Thai a few years ago. We go so often, the waitress already knows what we want. We are never disappointed. This place is very busy during the weekday lunch hour. Local business people know this place has great food and quick service. Our picky kids love Tong's chicken fried rice. I love the thai noodle soup with chicken added. I love every single curry dish offered. Tried them all! They use a nice sweet coconut milk in their curry. Great flavor! My husband loves General Tsao's. We have taken many friends and family, and they always want to go back. Tong's is not a fancy place, but comfortable to eat at if you want it be if the best Thai places around. This is my favorite thai place. I've been to thai places all around the Cincinnati and Columbus area and this is my favorite. The sweetness level is perfect, and the spices are well balanced so that nothing stands out, they blend perfectly. I really like the cashew, the massaman curry, and the pad khee mao. You can't go wrong with any of those for sure. The tofu is also really well prepared, the best I've had. It's not too chewy like at other places. This was our first time coming here and everything was amazing. We started with the crab puff that was light and crispy. Then the ginger salad, which was very fresh, but the ginger dressing was a little different than ginger dressing at most places. For dinner I had the Sweet 17 roll, which was amazing. It was very flavorful and crispy. I have never had a roll like it and I love sushi. The Philadelphia roll had fresh avocado with the perfect balance of rice and fillings. My companion had the pad Thai with chicken. He had a spicy level 4 and it was great, not too spicy but not bland. There was a lot of flavor in the dish and it was a generous amount. The last few times we've been here things just haven't been good. We were in for dinner on Saturday and we got a sweet 17 sushi roll didn't even resemble the sushi roll that we've normally got and called the exact same thing the ingredients were the same but the way it was put together was not. The curries were very watery flavorless. There was absolutely no seasoning at all on the food. My husband ordered a side of peanut sauce just to get it through his! I have been asked to get it to go order for a friend and after checking on them later they said there's wasn't any good either. I'm taking away a couple stars I'll see if maybe they get back to the way things used to be but it would take a lot of work! The restaurant is generally just run down and dirty the carpet is visibly dirty and it smells.This used to be my favorite Thai place I'm so sad! My husband and I were in Milford and wanted to eat sushi someplace close to our hotel because we didn't have a lot of time. We found Tong's about a half mile away. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express. When we first pulled up it didn't look like much but it turned out to be a great little place. The food was delicious and the service was super fast and friendly. I ordered several sushi rolls and my husband got General Tsaos chicken. I normally don't like the dish he ordered but I tried it and was pleasantly surprise. The pricing was comparable to any other sushi restaurant at $6 to $13 per roll. They don't have a huge selection of rolls but the rolls they had were great. read more

Not celiac friendly. I have eaten here several times before and spoken directly with the owner about making sure my food was gluten free. There is even gluten free soy sauce. I haven't had an issue in the past. But this time, when I went to lunch, I stressed as usual that I need my choices to be gluten free, the waitstaff insisted it was and insisted that she'd let the chefs know. I have such an obvious and miserable reaction to gluten and my symptom started within minutes of finishing my meal I could barely make the drive home. The food itself was Ok. The curry was flavorful and good. The soups, esp the pho, were large and full of rice noodles and veggies. I didn't PT taste them but my kids insisted they were yummy. The Bento boxes were a fun sampling of a few goodies. The gluten free pad Thai was very plain and the chicken was chewy, not tender. I like supporting local businesses and of course it's nIce when restaurants are conveniently located to work and play. I wanted to like eating here, but for me, I cannot risk it. So my family of six who loves Thai will have to go elsewhere. Chances are, I won't recommend it to anyone else either. read more
