The atmosphere, wait staff, and especially the food were above my expectations for a small Thai

We lived in New Orleans from 1995 to 2007. When I moved there, I was well aware of the city's illustrious dining reputation and that fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood was a big part of that legacy. What never occurred to me was that the bounty of fresh fish would also make New Orleans a great sushi town. We took plenty of advantage of that during the decade-plus we lived there. (Back in those days, the NOLA sushi joints weren't exactly adventurous, but there were a number of places where everything would always be super-fresh and well-executed--and very reasonably priced.) When we moved to Cincinnati, I knew our sushi habits were going to take a hit, but holy crap, I had no idea how big of one. For the most part, sushi was absolutely atrocious here in 2007. An embarrassment. We did eventually discover Ando, which was terrific, and Mei, which is very solid, too; there were also a couple of excellent Japanese options over on the Kentucky side, but they're like 30-40-minute drives for us. But damn, the ones closest to us, Ando and Mei (especially Ando), can break the bank if you don't watch it. But we basically gave up on trying to find a worthwhile mid-priced sushi place in or around the city. Not long ago, though, a little birdie told my wife about Mint Bistro, and although I was skeptical, the wife had some reason to trust this source. Our source was largely correct, thank Christ: Mint Bistro gives you a solid sushi experience without burning up your wallet. It's an Asian fusion place, which I probably reduces the sushi selection you get here, but there's plenty to put together a satisfying sushi meal. We've had some good nigiri (salmon, yellowtail, and fatty tuna have been pretty great, all with some of that melt-in-your-mouth butteriness), and we've really liked the Sunkissed Roll (pretty simple, just a spicy tuna roll topped with salmon and avocado) the couple of times we've had it. The couple of apps we've tried haven't been quite as good: seaweed salad is pretty basic and okay, but gyoza were quite bland. The proprietors have done a tasteful job with the place--it's a sharp-looking and comfortable little restaurant, and nicely lit. The staff has been welcoming, pleasant, and helpful, too. We have to drive at least 20 minutes to get to Mint, but so far it's easily worth the extra time compared to some of the Asian fusion/sushi places five minutes or less from our house (almost all of which we don't even go to). That ought to tell you a lot right there. read more

I came here for dinner with a friend because I've always seen this place right next to Joe's Napoli Pizza. And I could smell the yumminess coming outside of the mint bistro. First off - I definitely did not expect how nice and fancy it would look inside lol. And it's so spacious too. I really like the vibe here, the staff seems super friendly and the smell of the food is just great. Anywho I ordered one of their flat noodles and it was very flavorful. I would definitely say it was a bit too sweet for my taste but nonetheless it was still really good. The service was great as well and we just had a really nice time here. Oh and I love that they have boba here because this is the closest place from where I live in Batavia - and their boba is actually very good quality. Being from Southern California - I can be a little bit of a boba snob lol. read more

I'm not Thai, I've never been to Thailand, but I have eaten at many US Thai restaurants, and this is IMO a good one. My family and I have gotten takeout here a few times, and dined in once. The take-out was good, but I'm going to focus here on our dine-in experience tonight. The dining room is large, nicely appointed, and features a full bar. It is located in a small shopping center on MIlford Parkway, not far from the Milford Walmart. This is a Thai restaurant, but has a few extras (all positive) - a sushi menu and a long cocktail list. My cocktail was excellent; I had a mojito. We split some dumplings and I had a seaweed salad, which had a ton of seaweed (many times it is a lettuce salad with seaweed topping). My companion had uncomplicated sushi (tuna roll, avocado roll), which was good. I had Thai String Beans and went to the max on the spice (4 of 4), which was a good choice. Broth was rich and delicious; spice was hot but not overly punishing (my face got red and my nose ran a bit and I ate it all!). Service was pleasant and attentive. No complaints whatsoever, and I will be back! A side note; the pizza place in this plaza (Joe's Napoli) is also quite good. read more

They are currently open for take out, or delivery within a radius of 5 miles. Menu is listed on their website and the procedure is to call in your order. The man answering the phone was very friendly and even read back my order to me. It was ready within 25 minutes. When I arrived I was impressed by the lovely outdoor patio they have! It is large with lights, a fountain, and more! I cannot wait for a time to come back and enjoy that. I walked inside and was greeted by everyone! The inside is just as nice and has great atmosphere. Everyone working was friendly and they are doing a great job with safety right now. They have a pickup table setup 6 feet infront of the cash register (which itself is behind plexiglass). On the table is the credit machine as well as hand sanitizer. The guys said they are hanging in there but have been a little slow. My food was excellent. I am a big Thai Iced Tea fan and I think this was the best ive ever had! Next I chose several sushi rolls. The Kris' maki roll was my favorite, as you could really taste each flavor and they perfectly complemented each other. Very fresh too! T ithe East Coast roll was good but the spice drowned out the other flavors a bit. The Golden California roll was a tempura fried roll that was unique. For my main course I had the Ramen. The broth was just to die for. It was rich and flavorful and I just couldn't get enough. The pork belly was tender and also very nicely seasoned. The included veggies were fresh and the ramen noodles al dente. I have a bad feeling everytime I go for Target or Walmart drive up I will end up here! We found Mint Bistro in Milford and we'll be back! It was one of those nights when daughter was craving sushi but hubby was not digging it. I was fine either way. And that's when we discovered Mint Bistro. They have a broad "Asian fusion" menu, one for sushi and another for other entrees. We ordered California rolls (yummy) and chicken satay (peanut sauce was not quite as thick as I've had before but definitely a great flavor). We also had the "What a Feeling" entree (maybe one day I will find out what the inspiration was for that name!) which was chicken, shrimp and broccoli in a thin, flavorful brown sauce, served with rice. I ordered mild spice for us and it was just right. Portion-wise I would advise to order an entree for each person in your party (and I'm assuming there is sharing going on!), especially if you want leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The three of us finished our order with very little leftovers, a great example of "just right" quantity for tonight's dinner. I was glad we had ordered the Satay in addition the sushi and entree. We phoned in a take-out order (no online ordering as far as I could tell). My very helpful hubby picked it up, so I cannot comment on the ambiance - at the restaurant, anyway. The ambiance at home was casual. Hubby says parking was easy: "in and out, boom, boom". Yes, he said that. Our order was ready when they said it would be. I am only giving 4 stars because the pricing is high and we were given options with our meal rice or noodles and then charged 4 dollars extra for the noodles per person without being told ahead of time. Wonton soup was very good but was 5+ a little high for the bowl. Crab rangoon was ok not great. They have a lot of options from sushi to thai to chinese. Very large menu. Service was good but the place was very empty given it was a Monday night. It was my daughter's birthday and I was disappointed they didnt do anything. Most restaurants give a dessert. We went to Graeters instead of giving them more dollars. Lots of drink options as well. Pad thai and Korean bbq is their specialty. Others had that. I had a chicken and shrimp specialty that was good but not worth 20 dollars after the upcharge. read more

Since moving to Cincinnati, I've struggled to find the right sushi joint that I could compare to my regular Florida spots. Mint Bistro blew my expectations out of the water. Not only was the sushi fresh and delicious, but the iconic staples were the best I've ever had (miso soup, krab rangoon, and curry). Very interesting menu. We both had Thai dishes and both were perfect. Great taste, correct spice, and a lot of meat. It has an open bar with very interesting cocktails.
