I come from a land where great breakfast burritos can be found everywhere (you know the place), so my standards are high. And then I tasted the breakfast burrito at Mornings Breakfast & Brunch in Fishers. And now ... well. If someone asked me, now, where my favorite breakfast burrito is located, Mornings might pop into my head. Because the breakfast burrito here is bangin'. It's appropriately mushy in all the right places. (If you know me, then you know that "mushy" is a big compliment when describing a burrito.) It has hash browns that aren't too crispy, diced bacon (or whatever other meat you choose), scrambled eggs, cheese, all wrapped in a thin flour tortilla. The breakfast burrito also comes with a side of sour cream and salsa verde, plus an additional side. I chose fried potatoes. I got my breakfast burrito to go, like you should. Do people eat burritos sitting down in a restaurant? Aren't they made to be eaten in a car, precariously gripped in one hand, with the other had on the steering wheel, maneuvering around roundabouts? Or in a car, dripping sweat into the to-go container as you hover over it to shove the last bits of burrito into your face after a vigorous yoga session? Burritos are meant to be eaten in cars, obviously, so I got my breakfast burrito to go. Burritos, like many things, taste better when they're eaten in a car. When I visited Mornings early in the morning, the music was blasting in the dining room. I don't know if they always have it this loud, or if maybe they were just trying to pump up the staff, or if maybe I'm just old and everything is loud now, but the music was very loud. Like, "raise your voice to talk to the person across the table" loud. I guess just keep that in mind. Or let that be yet another sign that you need to get your food to go and eat it in your car.

The coffee is strong, fresh, and exactly what you need to start the day. The breakfast burrito is massive (seriously, it could feed an army), the pancakes are fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth good, and the hash browns are perfectly done. Everything came out quickly, thanks to Froy and Eduardo in the kitchen. I made sure to tell them how great the food was, and their big smiles said it all you can tell they genuinely care about both quality and service. There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. If you're feeling a little lazy but still want a great breakfast, Mornings is the place. Go say hi to Andrea, Froy, and Eduardo, you'll be treated to a breakfast that feels like something your grandma made for you on a Sunday morning.

Caffeine is still a necessity in the morning and Sunny Day Cafe's coffee is very good. No generic, bad tasting drip coffee here! My friend was craving pancakes, so she ordered a stack. I was torn between the biscuits & gravy, and the french toast. The biscuits & gravy won out and I had a couple of eggs added on top. I'm also a big hash brown kind of guy so I ordered some on the side. The pancakes looked very good as did the biscuits & gravy. I can't speak for the pancakes, because I didn't get a chance to sample them, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the B&G's. The gravy was kind of thin and tasteless. The biscuits were nice, and the eggs were cooked just like I asked. It wasn't bad, but not up to par with other places I have had biscuits & gravy from. (My house included.) The hash browns were disappointing also. They had an odd taste to them. Kind of like they had been cooked in the same spot as seafood was just cooked and used the residual oil. It was very off putting. Next time I will order the french toast. It has a nice selection of berries that are served with it, and sounds delicious. Overall, Sunny Day Cafe is a nice place for breakfast. The prices are reasonable, and the portions a nice size. The staff is great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. I will be back and try some of their other offerings.

"like Australia," as she introduced herself was attentive, personable, and made the experience memorable. There simply weren't enough greens to justify calling it a salad. On this visit, the service was noticeably slower. Our orders arrived at different times, some items were incorrect, and we were initially charged for things we didn't order. Thankfully, everything was addressed once we reviewed the bill. I feel like eating breakfast at a restaurant is so indulgent. It's so simple and convenient to eat breakfast at home. To take the time to leave the house and enjoy a sit-down restaurant for the first meal of the day is so extravagant. I know I sound crazy, but I'm serious. Breakfast dates just hit different. And breakfast dates with your mom for her birthday are even more special. But here is my issue with most breakfast joints: they are all the same. It always makes me laugh when you are going to meet someone for breakfast and a lengthy discussion ensues over where to go. Does it even matter? They all serve the same things: Multiple forms of eggs, pancakes, french toast, breakfast meats and probably a "skillet" meal. You might be lucky enough to find a chef who knows how to prepare a proper eggs benedict (The key? Restraint. A little hollandaise goes a long way), but beyond that, pick wherever you want to go. The menu will most likely be a carbon-copy. Well, color me surprised when I gazed upon the menu at Mornings! A carne asada skillet, the bad hombre omelette with chorizo, black beans and habanero cheese. They also offer tres leches pancakes, four types of benedcits and chilaquiles. This menu was fresh and different compared to mose midwestern breakfast establishments. This came as such a welcomed surprise. After receiving a hot cup of coffee, I decided on the chilaquiles. I had only heard of this dish, but had never had the opportunity to try it out. Have you ever had a dish that you didn't particularly enjoy, and yet you could tell that it was made really well? This was my experience with chilaquiles. If you aren't familiar, chilaquiles are tortilla chips that have been simmered in salsa rojo or verde. I was slightly concerned about ordering wet tortillas, but I am always down for a new experience. Honestly, I won't be ordering the chilaquiles, again. They were pretty much what I expected after reading the description. However, I was still impressed with the dish. Mornings did a great job, and I would actully recommend them to someone who enjoys chilaquiles. Personally, I would rather try some other dishes and flavors on the menu. But my thought was simple: If I am enjoying a dish that I don't seem to be a fan of now that I have tried it, how great are the rest of thes dishes on the menu that I know I would enjoy! Whether its a solo trip, a nice birthday date with my mom, or a breakfast burrito to go to savor after my morning yoga class, I will definitely be back to Mornings.

The moral of the story is that if you want to visit during weekend brunch hours, you need to bring your patience. Water and drinks were served promptly, though. They also offer self-serve coffee, so you don't need to wait for a refill. We ordered the lavender lemonade, which was nice and sweet and not too floral, but was a beautiful hazy lavender hue. My favorite thing at Cafe Patachou is the California Dreamer, which is an omelette filled with avocado, white cheddar, sour cream and jalapenos. It has a little bit of a kick from the jalapenos, but even still, I'm so much of a California girl that I requested hot sauce. It comes with arugula and your choice of toast. I always get the cinnamon toast at Cafe Patachou, because it's the best cinnamon toast I've ever had, full stop. We also got the Green Goddess salad, no protein. It was very good and included spinach, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, radish, sugared pecans, feta, hard-boiled egg and green goddess dressing. This is a tasty salad, and is great if you want a little something that feels healthy and light. One thing to keep in mind is that when there are lots of people in the dining room, it can be loud.
