The main server, is friendly at first, but tends to forget requests--especially refills--and we've had to ask multiple times before getting one. It makes the overall experience feel disorganized and, at times, a bit frustrating. Even if he walks to the table, and we ask, he'll get to another table and then forget my table. Makes NO SENSE. Oh and quick to shut the tab down too and send a bill pronto! Interestingly, service at the bar is noticeably better, which makes the inconsistency stand out even more. At the time writing this review, the entire floor here isn't even that busy. So I don't understand what is so hard to refresh a patron. I really want to like this place because the food and some of the staff are great, but the lack of consistent service makes it hard to fully enjoy the experience. Good service goes a long way in bringing customers back. We've been coming here for almost half a year. I'll be heading somewhere else. The buffet consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, pancakes, fruit, cereal and a variety of breads with high-quality jams. Although the sausage and bacon were very good, the eggs were over cooked and the home fries, rather than being crispy, were soggy. All of this was $20 per person. I suspect that the problem with the eggs and home fries was related to the fact that they were sitting in warmers for too long. Nevertheless, for the variety available, even if the quality were good, it would have been overpriced. If you are in State College and staying in the Penn Stater, skip the Gardens for breakfast. Pick one of the many other options in town, your pocketbook will appreciate it as will your tastebuds.

I thought that was crazy to hear from a restaurant that has tomahawk steak on their menu. If you don't think it is possible to cook it well, then it should not be on the menu. It took a while for our food. The chicken sandwich was difficult to eat because the stingy honey sauce was a sticky mess. The side salad with poppy seed dressing was good. The roast beef sandwich, which was supposed to come with chips but didn't, came with fries instead. The fries were soggy, greasy, and flavorless. However, the cooper cheese on the roast beef was the star of the show. Quite sadly, we're still on the lookout for a decent place to get take out on the way home from PSU. Any suggestions?
