Blue Gill is a small restaurant located in the heart of Alexandria, Pennsylvania. The town has a population of 388 people and was a stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. I visited Blue Gill with my wife and sister-in-law. We just walked over from her home in Alexandria. We just had drinks. We had a friendly and attentive waitress. The restaurant has a good selection of Pennsylvania craft beers. The atmosphere at Blue Gill is relaxed and casual. There is a nice outdoor patio with a view of the Juniata River. The patio is dog-friendly, and there is often live music on weekends where my nephews have performed. We preferred to sit inside due to the heat, but the small dining room was comfortable and cozy. I was able to move freely with my wheelchair. The place is accessible but the ramp to the entrance inside is very steep, might need help. Overall, Blue Gill is a great place to enjoy a casual meal with friends or family. I highly recommend it!

Loved this place! The food was delicious, fresh, and the portions were generous. The service was FANTASTIC! Our server Maddy was great!! Overall all the staff was friendly. The aesthetics, both indoors/outdoors were just as tasteful as the food. Really cute spot and refreshing to see! We had sweet chili wings, meatball sliders (that pesto was EVERYTHING) and much more!

We picked the busiest day of the year to try this restaurant for the first time. Our waiter, Cody, was incredibly friendly and attentive even though they were packed. The food was great! The Bloody Mary was so good I thought about asking what the secret was! If it was a premix I'm going to need to know which one it is. They had a special menu for the Hartslog Day festivities and we had a hard time choosing because there was so many delicious looking options. Great job, guys! We'll definitely be back!

Stopped in for trivia night, the atmosphere was wonderful the food was delicious huge portion sizes left with three boxes just for myself. Staff is very welcoming and although very busy our waitress was extremely fast with service the appetizers were amazing not shown was the crab macaroni and cheese which was delicious. It was topped with a bigger serving of crab than I expected the shrimp and grits was also a hit as well will be returning

A very busy place. Great brisket ravioli with an unidentifiable ingredient cream sauce which complimented the ravioli well.

We chose to eat outside in their beautiful garden, which made for the perfect setting. I ordered the Hawaiian-style poke bowl, and it was absolutely delicious! The portion was very generous, with plenty of fresh ahi tuna. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting a brother and sister who were also traveling from out of town. We ended up sharing a table and great conversation, which made the experience even more memorable. The service was excellent. We asked our server for a recommendation, and he suggested the poke bowl--and I'm so glad he did! Everyone in our group loved their meal. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely return. I highly recommend The Knickerbocker!

But we decided to not spend more time for finding something else and stepped in. It was very charming, surprisingly well kept,of course old,but in a good way. Menu was intriguing, modern and seasonal, which I value the most. Waiter was engaging in our menu exploration and was knowledgeable. Now to the food.. cauliflower appetizer made as General Tso was one other best cauliflower in my entire life. Lightly fried, not mushy, but with exact chicken like texture in divine sauce, kicking spicy with sweet undertones. In the same way not overpowering to forget about cauliflower itself. A+ for that dish!!! Pirogi was a little doughy on my opinion, but taste was good. Asian bowl with salmon had great flavor profile: cabbage salad was beautiful and freshly crisp, carrots were marinated perfectly with slight vinegary flavors, bok choy was unbelievably delicious. I asked for medium salmon, mine was almost well done, but taste was good and rice in the middle wasn't sticky and flavorful, but had watery texture and was bland. Overall, this is an amazing festival of flavors and technically challenging menu. Bravo!!!

They had soft country music playing and country decorations on the walls. Very pleasant atmosphere. I got a loaded baked potato and a grilled chicken salad. The baked orator was one of the best I've ever had. Cooked perfectly and had plenty of melted cheese and bacon bits on it. The salad was BIG. My Mom had fried steak dinner. It came with mashed potato's, plenty of gravy and a side salad. Nice size serving of meat and she ate the whole thing so I know she loved it. We got dessert too. All the desserts are home made. I got strawberry pie (tons of strawberries) and Mom had some sort of Angel food cake with a pineapple whipped cream sauce all over it. Yum. Our server was super nice and the service was good. She came and checked on us multiple times. Very pleasant lady.

This five-star review doesn't come because this side of the country isn't saddled with many replete restaurant choices. But because the food is cooked fresh and the wait isn't normally too long. Just think classic, American diner food, but cooked better. The last time, my roasted beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and beef gravy was so hearty and delicious, I ate it all. It can get quite busy sometimes so I would recommend reservations for larger groups. And every time I came here, I left with a box full of sugar cookies from the bakery to take back home to FL to enjoy. There's no better touch-of-home than a homemade sugar cookie with frosting.
