Stopped for dinner. Staff was friendly, we ordered one chicken sub and one buffalo chicken wrap and fries. $36. The buffalo Wrap came out as a sub at first - they corrected but I felt bad asking them to switch. It didn't have much ranch on it, but overall it tasted good. Fries were really good! The atmosphere could use a revamp- the lighting feels like an office building with fluorescents and very white light. Some darker table lighting would be nicer in my opinion. The buffalo chicken wrap upset my stomach, so that's why I'm rating it 3 stars. read more

Years ago I was passing through the sleepy village of Herkimer. For those familiar with Herkimer, its a quaint little town in the midst of upstate NY farmland. At one time, a large gun manufacturer was located in Herkimer but after they closed up shop and moved manufacturing overseas, the town slowly decayed. I was a bit shocked to see a vibrant town of middle-American style families from only a few years ago dry up. Main Street is littered with addicts and fast food joints, farm/hunting stores, convenience stores and medical clinics are about all you'll find. Each time (I know this sounds silly ...) I am in the Albany area on business, Ill drive the hour or so to have some Tonys pizza. When I was first passing through town, someone in nearby Utica told me to go to Tonys because the pizza and wings are as good as one could find in Buffalo. I was sold! And it was true ... the pizza was very tasty and the wings were delicious. Fast forward to today. The toppings at Tonys USED to be underneath the cheese, which was cool. No longer ... they are mixed in with the cheese like anywhere else. The crust used to be a bit less spongy but its still good ... just a bit more bread-like. The wings are scrawnier ... no longer do they give you blue cheese and celery to go with them ... but the buttery Buffalo sauce that goes with them is very tasty and authentic to what youd find in Buffalo. All in all, I will agree that corners are being cut from the good old days. But its still MUCH better than the average pizza in Los Angeles! MUCH! Prices seemed steep for a town whom Walmart is probably the most visited store. A large cheese pizza and a dozen wings was about $20. However, I gladly paid it ... the cheese is greasy. But its not cheap cheese, like youd find at a Little Caesars or budget spot. The sauce has a blandly pleasing tomatoey goodness and the cheese has a fantastic full gooey taste and feel. I drive an hour out of my way to get Tonys when my work unfortunately sends me to Albany. Maybe part of that is a bit nostalgic and a part is that the pizza in LA truly sucks. Whatever the case, this is one place locals probably take for granted until they move elsewhere and then would do anything for a slice. read more

We stopped into Tony's on the way out of Cooperstown, and bought three pizzas and a couple of salads. It is a clean but small restaurant that seemed to be pretty busy on a Sunday evening. The Pizza was good with a crust that was a little thicker than we expected. The inside out pizza was very good. The Buffalo chicken salads were very good. Service was very good, but when asked if there was a pizza that was a speciality of theirs, they didn't have any specific recommendations. It is so important to know what you do best! If you're stopping through and looking for pizza, this is a great stop. I wouldn't make it a destination solely for the pizza, but it's probably a solid 7.5 on the pizza scale. read more

However for two small sausage pepper and onion and one small Hawaiian, we paid $80. Added in was a drink and two blue cheese. Make it make sense. Not going back again. read more

While passing through this small little town to get gas and scratch tickets, we found this awesome pizza shop. We walked inside to grab some lunch and let me tell you we were not disappointed by stopping here for lunch. I ordered the Italian sub and my wife had the ham and cheese. Have to say the french fries were awesome as well, but in all honesty it's one of the best Italian subs I have ever had. Plus the staff was wicked awesome didn't catch the young ladies name taking our order at the register but very professional and well mannered young lady. My Granddaughter and I just stopped there to get a small sub and 2 slices and a 2 liter. 18 dollars. The sub was very light on the turkey. All I taste is lettuce. Her slices were good but my sub was very poor. John Lombardo can make a sub. He puts plenty of meat on his sub. If your going to charge top dollar for your food please serve better food. read more

Stopped into Tony's recently for lunch for what we thought would be your standard pizza shop. We were all very pleasantly surprised. At least a dozen pies awaited our arrival behind the glass countertop. Many variations and toppings too numerous to list. Tony's also offers many hot and cold sandwiches; appetizers and other goodies. Dinning room with plenty of seating- nicely decorated with walls plastered with photos of local college and HS athletes- nice touch. Service was quick and friendly. Look forward to stopping here again on our next pass through Herkimer. read more

Hidden gem. Was in the area for work and decided to stop near the highway. The parking lot was packed so we decided to try it out. My coworker and I ordered the subs. He had the Italian sub. It was stacked with tons of cold cuts and toppings on an almost foot long sub. With a side of lays chips. I had the chicken club (cutlet) and it was also on the same sub roll. The chicken was fried nicely and the serving was just enough. Also served with a side of chips. When we are ever in the area we will stop by no questions ask! Their pizza's looked fresh. Even had personal size pizza lunch specials with a soda for under $7! Might need to try that next time. read more

Shall we start with the five stars service or food? Guess we start with ten stars as both were exceptional! We arrived near to closing and never were treated as such. Owner took our order and special requests as we like to make up our own wing sauce concoctions and he never blinked an eye. After food was delivered to our table he also came and checked up on us! Okay, maybe that was the boring part so let's talk food. Well, best wings I have EVER had. Meaty meaty and crispy being beyond belief even though drenched in all the amazing tasty sauces. We did order extra crispy wings yet that seems to fall on deaf ears most of the time at other places. Crispy, meaty and drenched in sauce so that you can dip your pizza crust in! That brings me to the pizza.... OMG large pizza with pepperoni, fluffy yet at same time crispy and LOADED with pepepperoni, they do not skimp and I'm 100% certain I've never seen a large pizza THAT large!!!! We have stopped here a few times when traveling between Syracuse and Albany. The food is very good.! And the service is super friendly and helpful. The dining area is clean. We have tried the pizza and the subs and both were delicious. The wings were saucy and flavorful. It's a staple in the valley and as I grew up there and lived there 14 years, I think I know what i'm talking about :P Last time I was home visiting, I brought my fiance (who has never had NY pizza) and he was really into it.
