And once you are in, it is just as it should be. No fancy stuff, just a wonderful, honest man making his living fixing shoes. And he does an amazing job! Rude, old man. quoted my husband $15, I've always been quoted $15 to have boots stretched. I showed up and he was irritated with me because I didn't have a ticket that he never gave my husband. He comes out and tells me $20. I remind him what we were both quoted, he said he told my husband to bring back 50% deposit, he did not tell my husband that. He references the ticket that he insisted he had given to my husband. It was still attached to the tag. Save your money for someone who has some manners. Edited to add: NOTHING was done to these boots. We just paid $20 to have Tony do absolutely nothing to these boots and treat us like garbage. Go anywhere else. read more

The best shoe repair, restore, shine and polish shop one could find. I know becuse I looked. Took two pairs of shoes in. Another shop already had a shot at them, but I wanted to see if Tony's could do better. And, they absolutely did. Both pairs look better than they have since they were new. It's a gem of a shop that is like a unicorn. All the experience and ability with zero attitude, lost tickets or cantankerous cobblers one may find in other old school shops like this. I brought in a simple, straight stitch repair on an awning on January 5, 2023. TWO LINES!!! I would have done it myself but I don't have a sewing machine for canvas. $50 dollars to clean a leather and suede purse all for only the suede to be half cleaned. The leather inside wasn't touched. They didn't even run a wet towel in there. Nothing! I mentioned the inside and it was "we cleaned the suede only. Obviously. But I didn't pay $50 just for the suede to be cleaned but the ENTIRE Purse. The fact that I had to even say that is baffling. I recently purchased a Gucci belt that I wanted to add a few additional holes to. I originally planned to get this done through Gucci however their process estimates anywhere between 4-6 weeks currently. I came across Tony's shoe clinic and saw someone say they got it done quickly in one day. I decided to head over and sure enough he was able to do it right there at only TWO DOLLARS a hole! It is so fun to go down from bustling Oak Park Avenue into this little tiny hole in the wall shop. Literally. They have a few things for sale (Dr. Scholls inserts and shoe polish) but I've never paid attention to that. I go to Tony's to drop off shoes. The customer service isn't exactly top-notch, but it's not bad either. I think they're just efficient at what they do. I once forgot my stub (the paper they gave me when I left my shoes with them) and they had to manually go through ALL of their shoes to find mine. They did all that without complaining or making me feel bad. It's crazy how Tony can breathe new life into shoes. He can make them like new again! Sometimes that sort of rejuvenation can be a bit spendy... but depending on the value of the shoe the expense might be worth it. For me, spending $20 to resole a shoe is better than paying $100 for new ones. But that's just me. On a side note, I've seen other folks drop off belts, satchels, and purses for leather repair. It's good to know that Tony's can do more than just shoes! read more

All my repairs, shines, and resoles have been completed in a timely manner and done with quality workmanship. I have known about Tony's shoe repair for years and have driven past this place over a zillion times, for I live in the surrounding area. I have always heard of Tony's shoe repair to be a place where you received good, reasonably priced, quality work so of course when I needed a good cobbler to fix my $700 CL pumps when the heel on one snapped, (talk about a ruined week) I ran to Tony's fast. Upon entering I must admit that the space and decor will not get him on the cover of a beauty business magazine, but hey I am here to get my high quality shoes fixed back to perfection, not sit around to take in the beauty and that's exactly what he did and that's fix my shoes back to perfection! When I picked up my shoe (by the way the turnaround time is super fast too) I was amazed and so happy with the outcome. You clearly cannot tell the heel had ever broke. On top of that the price to fix the heel was $9! (I'm sure his space affords him this nice price structure - so appreciate this lil no window space) I was quoted over $30 at a gold coast location (I am sure that's to help cover the rent). I have been going to Tony for years. I always think to myself that I should write about how good he is, but then I promptly forget. I am finally getting to it. Today, bright and early at 7, when he opened, I was at his door with the one pair of shoes my daughter brought in for her visit. She had broken the heel on the train! "Tony, I have a problem, could you fix these while I wait?" Yes, he could. Ten minutes later, the heel was repaired! At a reasonable price. When you love a pair of shoes, even if they aren't the most valuable pair, you don't want to give them up. Old, worn, loved shoes are a thing of beauty - until, that is, they become too worn out, and sad. Take those shoes to Tony! He will put on a new sole or heel, he will camouflage(hide) those nasty scuffs and gouges that uncover the under workings of your heels. You will be amazed at what he can do for your shoes! You will get back your shoes in far better condition than you dropped them off. Those beloved shoes you thought were beyond hope will have a new life. To me, at least, it is worth it to put money into a comfortable pair of shoes, even if it costs a bit, than to start all over again, breaking in a new pair. I'm sure there are people who don't even know they can fix their shoes instead of tossing them. Wake up, people!! My daughter has one pair of leather flats that Tony probably has resoled 3 times. When the tips of the sole of your high heels are worn away? Tony can re-tip that part of the shoe's sole. I have taken in shoes I thought were beyond repair - Tony worked his magic. Don't be skeptical or put off by his basement location. Fixing shoes isn't a glamorous business. If you arrive early, Tony will greet you. It seems as if everyone takes their shoes to Tony. One day he was shipping off shoes to California. Another day, there was a very tall man there(I assume a basketball player) who brought in his gym shoes!!! By the way, if you need shoe polish, he has the best polish - creme Meltonian. It's the best polish ever. Bottom line. If you love your shoes, take them to Tony. I hate to be the one to blemish the 5 stars of Tony's She Clinic but I was not happy at all with the quality of work nor the attitude I got. When I dropped off a pair of boots and heels the girl was nice, not friendly or cheerful, just average. She offered to put in some kind of toe protector on the sole. I thought that was nice. The price qouted seemed reasonable. I picked up my boots which had the heel cap replaced. There was a gap in between the cap and the rest of the heel on one side. I thought they would polish up the heel part too since it was a little damaged and worn. I pointed it out and the solution he came up with was to slap a little paint on it and call it a day. I again pointed out that the cap was not flush with the heel. I wxpecting them to fill it up and buff it out or something. He tells me " no, it's ok. Ok, bye now." and tried to rush me out of the store. we went back and forth for a few minutes. I asked for a receipt and he gave me a cash register tape with the price charged on it stapled to a business card. hello? Get with the 21st century and provide professional looking receipts. This dude was in a big hurry to get me out of the store, telling me that everything was Ok when it was not. He didnt really care and didnt offer to correct the poor work. I don't know what I'd do without Tony. When I have a pair of shoes (often boots) that I love and can't find a suitable replacement for, Tony will make them as good as new. He's done it twice now for this cheap but comfy and cute pair of booties from Target (they were Issac Mizrahi, OK?) that cost me $26. I wear them into a frazzle for a couple of winters, then he refurbishes them for about the same amount in two days' time. His shop is downstairs a half-flight from street level and smells of polish and other chemicals, but that's part of the charm. read more

Highly, highly recommended. They shine/waterproof your shoes very inexpensively (I got 2 pairs shined & one waterproofed for $10). They sell waterproofing materials for you to take home as well and are very helpful in choosing which you need based on what color/type of shoe you are using it on. They also re-soled an expensive pair of boots for a friend, which would otherwise have had to been thrown out - they made them LIKE NEW. read more

Tony did AMAZING work on a pair of men's dress shoes I needed spiffed up. They were in bad shape-- salt stains, holes in the soles, badly worn down heel. Tony said no problem and promised them to me that same day. When I picked them up, they were super shiny and had a really nice new sole, which matched the shoe perfectly. They're also salt treated now, which is great for these waning days of Chicago winter, when there's just salt everywhere. A couple of things to note-- it's cash or check only, and Tony asks for half up front. I didn't have that, so I gave him 10, which seemed to work fine, but it's probably better to go in prepared. It's not cheap, but it's definitely affordable. Assuming the repairs on this pair hold up, I'll be back for sure! read more

This is THE place I come for all my shoes. It can be hard to stop if you're just walking down Oak Park Avenue but it's right before you hit the nail shop at the crosswalk. Love that it only takes a few days and that it's right off the train stop. I drop my shoes off in the morning and pick them up on my way home in about two or three days later. Not a long wait, at all. Note that their re-soleing price has went up. It used to be something like $7, and now it's about $30. Now those soles are reserved for heels I wear more than once a year. Just bring cash because they haven't hopped on the swipe train yet. read more

As shoe repair places go, it's worth it to me to trek the 30 plus miles to this place and get my shoes done right, than hedge bets on places in the north and northwest burbs that assure you they can do what you want, then mess things up. I brought in an expensive pair of Ferragamo's to this place needing leather soles and half heels. Tony matched the sole well - didn't throw on some clumpy old thing from stock.
