The great thing about options is there's so much to choose from. The time consuming thing about options is there's so much to choose from. And such is life.. The cobbler/leather repairer I had been going to had unexpectedly transitioned, so I was left with many pieces that needed tlc and repair. I dragged my feet for several months and finally decided to start the search over again. I came across Serrano's during my search and was drawn to the vendor because of the reviews and location. When I realized Ricardo was located in the same building as my Chiropractor, I figured I could try it out and kill two birds with one stone. (Sidebar-as I typed that last sentence I had to ask myself "Why would I want to kill two birds at all?" So I had to pause to research the origin of that phrase..Greek mythology, of course- but I digress) I had two belts that were too long and had to be cut shorter. A coach belt and a Gucci belt. I grabbed both belts, and another belt that was the perfect length (for comparison), and headed to my Chiro appointment. Wouldn't you know that the phrase "Phone First" is still relevant to this day? I walked into a beauty salon and told the hairdresser that I was here to see Ricardo for leather repair. She informed me that Ricardo had left for the day, and gave me his card. I called Ricardo the next day and was given business hours, for me to return later in the week. Ricardo's business is setup inside a beauty salon space, which also has a nail tech. When I first walked in, I was slightly thrown off as I wondered where Ricardo would have space to actually work. Nevertheless, we talked about my belts, I showed him the sample, was quoted a very reasonable price, and told to expect a text when my belts were ready. A few days later, Ricardo texted me and I went to pick up my belts. Belts were perfect, stitched back lovely. The next week, I took a Louis Vuitton purse that needed reinforcement at the handle base, as well as a Prada bag that needed a d-ring attached for a handle. I was quoted a very reasonable price, and again told I would be texted upon completion. The LV repair was a reinforcing, not a replacement, so the price I was quoted was less than a fraction of the price of having it repaired by LV themselves. It was also a fraction of the price I was quoted from leather repairers that specialize in luxury repair. For both transactions, Ricardo was very nice, offered a fast turn-around time and was very reasonably priced. I am currently looking for other items around my house that need repairing. read more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! The zipper on my backpack came unsewn the day before I left for a 2 week trip and I was running around town trying to find someone who could fix it. I called Serrano's to see if they were able to provide the service and they told me to come in any time that day. I showed up within 20 minutes, showed the stitching, and the guy promised me he could have it fixed by 10 am the next day (to ensure I would be able to get my bag and make my 2pm flight). I was a little nervous because he just looked like a guy in a hair salon but I trusted him and he really worked his magic. I came back the next day and my bag looked as good as new!! And it was only $15, with less than 24 hour notice and service time. Other places in the area were quoting me even more for longer time periods. Also, it only took 5 minutes to drop off and consult about my bag and then less than a minute to pick it up and go. The guy was incredibly friendly and helpful, and was more than accommodating of my timeline. He really saved me for my trip because I take this backpack everywhere. One more note is that it's an emerald green velvety/corduroy backpack material and he took the extra effort to find a string that would match my bag and look nice. Ricardo's workmanship is superb. I had unidentified stains on the coated canvas of my Burberry satchel bag and I have been fearful that it couldn't come off even if I have it professionally cleaned. He inspected and asked if I knew what liquid stained it. I could not recall a specific incident and so I said I had no idea if it was coffee or some other liquid. He was honest to say that he would try but since I am not able to identify it, he might not be successful. Come Monday, my agreed pick up time, he texted me that my spot clean is ready for pick up. His price was very reasonable too, for the meticulous work that he did. For the review, I wasn't able to take a "before" photo, so just placing an "after" and "looks like new" one then.
