Too Jay's has the best coffee I've ever had! I would come here just to drink a cup of coffee and nothing else but that would do them an injustice. They have a fantastic breakfast menu. I've never eaten their lunch but I am sure that it is no doubt as good as their breakfast. They also has a deli where you can order meat by the pound and a dessert cabinet as well. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite sandwich places in town but customer service today was very bad. What's wrong with acknowledging the customer? If u are busy all you have to do is say "I'll be with you in a minute". And then when I asked if anybody else here, she answered with an attitude "It's just me". I can understand that. Our noisy family of seven had dinner here on Friday night. While we waited on line, the manager stopped by. We asked what we should order. He gave us several suggestions. Our server, Debbie, was great! Debbie has excellent customer service skills!! The food was delicious!! My husband and I were visiting from NC. I have not had matzo ball soup or latkes in years - sooooo good!!! The suggested Chicken Capri was yummy, the pastrami "to die for", the brisket so tender, the rye bread warm and flavorful! When here years ago and then recently started making this my usual place for the last 3 or 4 months. The food is good and if you want breakfast they have breakfast type menu items. If you want lunch or dinner for breakfast you can do that as well. If you're trying to eat healthy they do have healthy menu items on here. I highly recommend the tomato and cucumber salad as an appetizer or a side with your main dish. It's a good way to start off healthy especially if you're trying to lose weight. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and they seem to be genuine which is rare these days. read more

We went for lunch today 1pm! Short wait... nice booth seat! All food was excellent! We had fried pickles.. pastrami egg rolls these r not to be missed! Soups French onion and matzo ball! Delicious! Do you like old people? Do you like the smell of adult diapers, gray hair, Preparation H and dentures? If so, you're in luck at Toojay's! So yes I know it's a Jewish deli in the state of Florida. I should expect old poeple. But I felt like I was in a nursing home when I went here. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I kind of felt hot for a few minutes while the old guys drooled at my boobs. That part was nice. All that aside, I like Toojay's. I would not go out of my way to go here, but I did eat here three times when I was home. What can I say? It's convenient to my mom's house. I wholeheartedly disagree with Dan B who said the baked goods are not so great. I think their baked goods are fantastic. The banana dream cake makes me jizz in my pants. The chocolate cake is amazing. And the rye bread makes me jizz in my pants multiple times. It's that good. Most of the good here is either a. sandwiches or b. comfort food. Ordered take out from Toojays the other day. Have enjoyed dining in a few times, first time getting my deli on to go though . I had a "Buy One get One Half-Off"coupon in the mail, usually these kinda deals are for dine-in only. Toojay's said no problem, we can use that on a take-out order easy. Got their famous Rueben (stacked high with delicious meat, Russian dressing and sauerkraut) and a Teriyaki chicken sandwich (massive, juicy chicken breast lightly marinated and gobbed with melted cheese, sauteed mushrooms and crispy bacon). They told me 20 minutes, showed up right on the nose and the gal behind the counter was ready and waiting with my order. When I got home everything was spit spot. Food was still nice and warm, the fries weren't soggy (*BONUS* As far as I'm concerned, that's Public Enemy #1 when it comes to takeout) lotsa napkins, utensils and assorted condiments all packed in. Ah, Toojays....:-D We had not been in Altamonte Springs FL, where we used to live, for just under 5 years...and we had to have breakfast somewhere, didn't we? My wife had a huge, lovely roasted vegetables omelette, rye toast, fruit cup; very satisfying My thoughts: we were at Toojays, and I can get omelettes a lot of places. So l had hot pastrami. With onion. And cole slaw. And a dill pickle spear. And no bread... with no problem. A never ending cup of coffee. That's what I call a breakfast. We had a very competent, professional, and friendly server, and I apologize for not recalling her name for a shout out. It was wonderful.... We have moved several times, mainly to places where deli is not held in the high esteem it is deservedly held in Florida, and l indulged my palate, while avoiding the dreaded simple carbohydrates. No latkes. No challah. Not even rye bread. But wonderful nonetheless. Four and One Half Stars. read more

They have overall decent food but it is definitely nothing special. Jason's Deli for instance has better sandwiches. The positive aspect of TooJays is that you're not just limited to deli food, you can get entrees and breakfast as well. The breakfast is probably the only good food. The desserts are definitely not good. There were so many delicious sounding desserts so I tried the tollhouse squares which had no taste, then another time I had the carrot cake which was stale and didn't taste like much, then I had the black and white cookies and they weren't good. The corned beef and pastrami sandwich is way too small for the price. The service is also pretty subpar. They often have attitudes and are rarely helpful. It's overall a rip-off. I ate here several times during my recent trip to see family in the Orlando area. For some unknown reason they all love this place. Ordered eggs two separate times. Thought I learned my lesson after the first time, but both times eggs arrived cooked.to.death. Side of potato pancake was cold, and flavorless. On a separate visit I ordered a patty melt. Meat was totally chewy (and not in a good way) and had absolutely zero flavor. I get using lean ground beef, but a certain amount of fat is required for flavor and texture. But, their fries are really delicious. Will eat here again because everyone but me loves it but not worth it in my opinion. And I've eaten a lot of deli food in my life. read more

Had a really good meal on Wednesday night. Was coming down with something and needed some comfort food. Ordered hot tea for the first time ever at a restaurant. Consequently, I was unable to read the menu resulting in having to ask the server several questions. Always busy, too busy: Toojays always seems to be super busy and the staff frantic. We waited 20 minutes to be seated (even though there were empty seats the whole time). Food was delicious but service was terrible. I know I'll never go back. Maybe another location, but not Altamonte Springs, Florida. My husband and I were running errands and he'd had the delicious Shepherd's Pie before and we decided to share it since we had more places to go and didn't want leftovers. The plate was brought with two iced-tea spoons and set in the middle of the table as though we were going to share ice cream. I attempted to ask for larger spoons, like soup spoons, to serve onto our small plates and was told she wasn't allowed to do that and supplying the iced-tea spoons was her being generous. She said she should've followed rules and not brought us spoons in the first place. In retrospect, that might have been better but with a hot plate, spoons seemed like a good idea. I did say I couldn't believe she was arguing with a customer about spoons and she said she wasn't arguing, she was apologizing. Just very bizarre, in my opinion. Again, the food was delicious but the experience put a bad taste in my mouth. Five stars for food but service can make or break a dining experience. read more

Since moving to Central Florida I have frequented the Altamonte location mostly as well as occasionally a few others. You must be kidding! My first experience with Toojays and my last. 25$ for 2 sandwiches on a hamburger bun. I understand the price of their location realestate may be high but that is absolutely no excuse for gouging. In addition the coleslaw was a little more than a tablespoon and was quite awful. This in no way resembles a deli anywhere in tri-state New York area. A hole in the wall mom and pop deli in the South Bronx would blow this place out of the water. Here, locally, I'll stick to La Spada's, or Jason's, or Publix. Subway and Wawa make a better sandwich for way less money. read more

I ordered the Matza Ball soup and pastrami On rye. Oh my so glad I did absolutely delicious. The soup was so good and flavorful. My sandwich was the best. The food was really good, and they have a pretty extensive menu. We came on a Sunday though and service was pretty terrible... We waited awhile and our waitress would come and leave and wouldn't come back, didn't really explain the questions I had asked her, I did overhear from someone else that the managers left them here alone though which is the managers fault, she still could have had a better attitude though. A great Jewish restaurant and deli. I had a Reuben sandwich and it was piled high with corned beef, grilled to my liking with just the right amount of dressing. My favorite item on their menu is the rugelach. They offer almond, chocolate, cinnamon, apricot, cinnamon raisin and raspberry. So good! read more
