Listen, this place is good to walk into. We always have a friendly staff and the food is good. I ordered the french toast platter which includes bacon and eggs. My whole to-go order from here was practically inedible. It was beyond bad. I placed a to-go order online and went inside to pick it up. The inside of the restaurant was very run down looking and no one greeted me. I finally got my food was shocked at the just grotesque appearance of the food. I know nothing in person looks truly like the photos but this was unrecognizable. Let's start with the strawberry cream cheese crispers. There was maybe 1 of the thinnest slices of strawberry in there. Just one in both of them. This was the only essence of strawberry in it with 0 other strawberry filling. It was not crisp and just goopy. We also ordered 2 of the $9.99 burger, fries, and pie combos. The burgers were frozen that where like flash cooked. There was 0 seasoning on them. Not even salt of pepper. They tasted like nothing. The fries were undercooked for both orders. The pie was just okay. The quality of the food just was not acceptable. I had a 25 coupon after our Yelp event was postponed at no fault of their own in another facility. I ordered online and got 3 blueberry pancakes, shrimp skillet, and banana cream pie. After the coupon and taxes, I paid a little over 5 bucks. While driving to the restaurant, I got a call from the restaurant stating they ran out of banana cream pie and offered another pie as an alternative. Thus, I took the coconut cream pie instead. When I arrived, it was bagged up and ready for me. I took the food home and ate early evening. I tasted the blueberry pancake, and it tasted pretty mild, but still decent. The blueberries made it sweeter. Syrup and butter were provided, but I didn't need it. The shrimp skillet was surprisingly very good with big and plump shrimp (not the small ones I would have expected), broccoli, and bell pepper. All were on top of rice in a nice sauce that tasted like soy. The broccoli and bell peppers were cooked nicely and had the right amount of crunch. It was portioned nicely that I was not hungry afterwards. The coconut cream pie was also enjoyable with nice coconut cream and coconut flakes in a easy to cut and eat crust. While the cream tasted artificial, it still had a good coconut flavor. I am pretty sure that Humphrey Bogart wouldn't mind getting hit in the face from that pie by Elmer Fudd. The service was friendly. When they called me, they were apologetic from running out of the banana cream pie, and were quick to verify the alternative was available. Even though it did take me about 30 minutes to arrive, the food was still pretty hot when I picked it up. The atmosphere was diner casual, and it was pretty quiet since I came around 4:30pm The bathroom was pretty clean too. I was quite impressed by the quality of the shrimp skillet, especially with the shrimp being nice and plump. And the pie and pancake were good too. I would definitely consider this chain for breakfast or lunch when staying overnight at a hotel and it was nearby. For the price paid, it was a great value. read more

Admittedly, I haven't been to Perkins in a very long time. I Saw they were doing an event with Yelp and decided to give them a try. I looked online and saw their current burger promotion where it's $9.99 for a burger fries and a slice of pie. In today's market you really can't go wrong with that deal. I was really surprised at the seasoning on the burger. It was a decent size. Patty, that was cooked well. I got a good portion of fries. I wasn't really impressed with the coconut pie but that just is a me thing. Would gladly do this deal again. The service was quick and friendly. With how affordable everything was I was surprised I wasn't more people here. There are lots of seats available and it seems to be a pretty nice place. Seems like your typical Perkins. I had not been to a Perkins in over 27 years. I went because I had a discount code of $25, so it was a good excuse to come back. The restaurant is old and looks old. You can see it needs remodeling, besides that, it is a nice restaurant and the staff was very nice. I placed an online order. As I arrived a young woman greeted me. I let her know I was there for pickup and gave her my name. She let me know it would be a minute. I told her it was no problem; I got there a few minutes early. I went to the restroom and when I came out my order was ready. As I opened the bag, delicious smells came out and our food looked great. My Steak and Peppers Skillet was tasty, but a little salty for my liking. On the other hand, my husband's steak was perfect and the mashed potatoes were out of this world, wow! Greatest mashed potatoes we've had in decades. My husband said that even the broccoli was stupendous. My wife and I started our day with her doctor appointment then breakfast at Perkins on University Blvd. Our server,Mercedes, was excellent. Our breakfast was also excellent and filling. My wife had Build A Breakfast and I had the Classic Eggs Benedict. Again, I do not understand the low score but our breakfast experience was a solid 5. Back to Perkins again! I love it here. Today I split the granny omelette with my mother and substituted the potatoes for asparagus. It also comes with pancakes! Great value for all that at $13.99. The servers here are always wonderful and it doesn't take that many visits to get on a first name basis with them. I usually stick to a morning visit as during the later hours there are less staff and it takes a lot longer to get your food when it's busy. I go to Perkins about once a month for breakfast with my husband - this visit today was to celebrate with my birthday deal. I could not for the life of me find that email with my special birthday meal code on it as I sat there, but I told the waitress and she said to me, oh, it's ok, I got ya, so I put the phone and stopped looking. Then I get to check out and the manager is the one at the register. I tell him I'm on the birthday gift meal deal, and what the waitress said, and he just says no, can't do that. Needs a code. Now, come on. Really? You could have looked at my license and seen I was telling the truth, and maybe had a store code to use in this type of situation, but no, he just couldn't see his way clear to being kind to a regular customer. Or I guess any customer really. So the Perkins chain couldn't eat the cost of of a few eggs and coffee, right? Just to be sure your customer was taken care of...by going the extra mile? Nope, not Ramon, not this Perkins manager. There are so may ways to have handled this issue, but no. Ramon, the manager, just had to be unreasonable and offer the worst service he coud offer. How completely ignorant. Well, guess this is a great example of the perfect thing to do if you are looking to lose two customers, right? So many restuarants we can go to, and this is acceptable behavior from a Perkins manager? Wow. Your manager's arrogance, cheapness, lack of vision and poor customer service exemplifies what blatant customer indifference means. On our next breakfast out we will go to one of the many restaurant chain in the same mile and not look back. read more

Ashley is their BEST server by far. She seems to be requested at the door she is so popular. Very friendly and knows how to treat her guests. She was calling them by name and hugging them. This was my first time eating at Perkins. I'm not normally a diner type of person but I wanted to try their bacon fest and new fall menu, so we gave it a try. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, and was very helpful when we experienced some issues. I ordered the steak (medium) and eggs (well done) with a side of the pumpkin pancakes and the breakfast potatoes. Unfortunately - what I received was a well done steak and very runny eggs, and the wrong side was brought (hash browns). I explained the situation to the server and she politely apologized and offered to bring me something else. I asked for a side of breakfast sausages and scrambled eggs. Unfortunately, when it came out, the sausage was half cold (like they didn't cook it all the way through) so I boxed those up and ate them at home. I will say though - the pumpkin and maple bacon pancakes were delicious. If I were to ever return or recommend something off their menu, it would definitely be those! read more

Hadn't visited a Perkins in probably over 10yrs-- and this visit didn't disappoint! Visited for breakfast Saturday morning. Our server Will was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. A bit greasy buttt maybe a bit tastier too because it was nostalgic lol. My only real complaint would be that the restaurant is old and a bit run down; and it smells like -- I really hate to say it -- a nursing home :/. Just old and musty. I've come to Perkins so many times over the years and ever since I moved to Orlando, it is strange that I hadn't left a positive note in regards to their food and service. The last time I came, I had some tea and a blueberry muffin. The waitress asked me if I had ever had it grilled, I said no, and she said "If you don't like it, it's on me". I don't do well being challenged, so I took it head on. It's me and my conservative a$$ versus a heathen grilled muffin. Bring it on! What can I say? She got me. The waitress won. I've never split a muffin in half and put it on a skillet, but I will forever do this from now on. It is that good. I feel so dumb for not having thought of it before, I don't even warm my muffins! I ate my grilled muffin, which was really good and fresh by the way, and sipped on my Lipton tea like if I was Sir Thomas Lipton. If you are old enough, you remember the guy in the Lipton tea box, he was like the Colonel Sanders of tea. Came in today for the fish and chips special, which also comes with a salad. The service was quick. Our server Ashley was terrific filled our drink orders quickly, suggested the special of coffee and pie ( which I ended up ordering). Food came out quickly and was hot, not sitting around like some places. Ashley checked in with us several times, kept our drinks filled. She was attentive but not overbearing or hovering. Usually breakfast is at least 4 star and sometimes 5. Lunch and dinner food not great so I only come here for breakfast. We had a group of 15-20 in a private area. Server was nice but she couldn't take care of us in a timely way and take care of other tables as well. Restaurant knew well in advance we were coming but didn't make any accommodation to take care of us. Just to bring our drinks took way too long before she took our orders. As the food was slowly served around the table it was lukewarm. My usual eggs and bacon and pancakes were just barely eatable because they were all not hot. Not sure our group will return here. I've been in the restaurant industry for over 35 years and I have run, trained and worked at plenty of restaurants in my lifetime and I have never had a server like her! She was one of the best if not the best server I have had the privilege of seeing in action in forever. The food on the other hand was good but not great. The biscuits were bland and not fresh, we actually got there around lunch time and had breakfast so maybe things sit for a while that were probably delicious a couple hours earlier. Ashley was very accommodating. My hubs loved his breakfast. We shared the fried cheesecake roll things, they were delicious. I used to live here in Orlando for many years and moved in 1983 to Alabama and we don't have a Perkins so coming back was nostalgic. Perkins is a great family restaurant. We chose the duo and trio meals. These meals give soup, salad, sandwich and/dessert. The variety is good from this selection, but you can try one of their varied options from salads, burgers appetizers and main entrees. They even have breakfast plates ALL DAY. This particular place Perkins get (4) stars because the time it took to get our food was a little too long. Perkins has always been my go to spot for breakfast or lunch. The prices are decent. Meal for two never costs more than $20. Also, if you join the email club you get coupons for 20% or buy one, get one free on Wednesday's and a free breakfast coupon for your birthday month. My favorite for breakfast is the country fried steak with eggs for $11 and for lunch is the pot roast melt. The pot roast melt comes with Tender braised beef, grilled red onions, melted Cheddar and American cheese on grilled garlic Parmesan sourdough bread with au jus for dipping. It's loaded with flavor! They also have a good assortment of pies to choose from and fresh baked cookies. read more

Two words, Mammoth muffin! I seriously cannot get enough of Perkins baked goods and they always deliver especially when it comes to their muffins. My personal favorite is there pumpkin muffin, which can be seasonal and they do still have some right now so go and grab one if you can. We ate breakfast here a couple days ago. We were greeted right away and seated at a booth close to the doors. Our server came over after a little bit she did have a very large table, so it took her a little bit of time, but we could see what was going on so no big deal. We were ready with our order when she came over. I had the Mediterranean omelette and the hubs got a scramble. Food came out pretty quickly and everything was made as ordered. I highly recommend that you ask to get your muffin warmed up. We also did recently find out that you can ask them to put the muffin on the grill. I was seated right away. My waiter was William. He was very courteous and explained the menu. Another family came in and got his attention. Seems it took a while for him to come back. He should check back more frequently as I had to walk across to a empty table to get catsup bottle. He took a long time to bring pie. I had finished my meal and placed the empty plate at the edge of the table. My plate sat there for 7 minutes. I was just about to leave when he finally came back. The food was excellent.
