A beautiful Pilates studio with two levels and amazing paintings hung everywhere. Came here with my friend for a chair Pilates class and it was challenging in all the right ways. The instructor made sure or form was proper to avoid any kind of injury. This was our first chair Pilates class but the instructor made sure we understood all the movements to be able to have the most efficient class possible. Definitely give this place a try!

Toolbox is a unique fitness experience. It is a combination of first class Pilates and one of the most beautiful spaces in Washington DC. This is my third year of Pilates with Iva. I am down two pant sizes and want to wear tank tops all winter to show off my arms! Iva encourages, motivates, inspires and sometimes prods and pushes me to be my personal best. Iva and Alex have created a space that is sleek, modern and sophisticated and with exposed brick walls and antique wood floors and fabulous art is also warm and welcoming. You do not want to leave!

Stunning studio. One of the most beautiful I have ever been to and so serene. The class was intense yet relaxing and rejuvenating. The instructor was great at explaining the exercises and exactly how to place yourself. I can't wait to go back!!

The florist made a beautiful flower wall to serve as the backdrop for this happy couple.

I started going there a few months after they opened and took 10 private reformer classes with the owner Iva.

I was a longtime runner, Barry's Bootcamp, and Cross Fit enthusiast -- all of which destroyed by body and left me injured more than in shape. Lagree Pilates and Solidcore are a full body workout and exactly what I needed. There is zero impact on the joints and each movement is slow and in control. You also majorly get the heartbeat pounding and I find myself a sweaty mess like I did in those other fitness routines. Solidcore's approach isn't always my favorite (the trademark language and constant soundtrack of the instructors). If I had to pick, I prefer Lagree's approach more but hey, I'm just grateful to have this workout in DC.

Expiration policy on classes is VERY short - this means that if you get a VERY EXPENSIVE classpack but say get sick or have to travel, there's zero flexibility to get an extension. Pretty tone deaf given we just went through years of a pandemic. 2. There is NO HUMAN to be found to help with any questions on classes/memberships, you just email some general account and someone with no name sends you boiler plate marketing. 3. VERY EXPENSIVE It all just leaves a very unpleasant taste in your mouth and there are too many other fitness options where you are treated like a human and where you can get a great workout.

I love SC so to me this wasn't necessarily a bad thing but do keep in mind this class pushes you to muscle failure rather than focus fully on Pilates form. I came for a 430 Ariana Grande class and didn't realize they don't really have a "waiting" area since they keep the doors to the room locked. They have one restroom available and then you just leave your shoes out in the open. The studio itself is gorgeous and has such great natural lighting. Check in was easy and my instructor was very helpful in explaining the machine and the class. The class itself was about 80% similar to SC with maybe a little traditional Pilates and some stretching. A hard and good workout but wasn't what I thought it would be but still enjoyed it. The class is around 40-45 minutes so you don't get as long of a class for the money. They didn't play any Ariana Grande which was a bummer since I looked forward to the theme. Overall clean and aesthetic studio but very similar to studios I'm already a member of and with slightly less amenity space, I am not sure which is a better bang for your buck.

Every single instructor teaches such incredible classes and has great instructors like I barely look at whose name I'm signing up for. The strength and cardio slay. The class times are perfect. Everyone is friendly and positive and uplifting. They have dry shampoo in the bathrooms. The studio is beautiful like the brick and plants everywhere are so good. It's so clean and they give you a disinfecting wipe (not Clorox like a good wipe) for your props at the end so the props aren't grimy. It smells good because of the lemon candle they use. In general just such a positive space and the vibe is not to hate on your body it's to modify and like be balanced and functional The essential oils is what I will especially highlight because basically at the end of class they waft around these essential oils during breathwork and I am in loveeee with it!!!!! Consider that part of the experience because everything after the door is deliberate. The aesthetic is dark and moody and very much committed to it, flash photography is a hard no I actually wish that was started in the reservations vs upon arrival because the host came off a little rude about it. Now Nathan. Our waiter ran that dining room like a well oiled operation and I mean that with full respect. His presence alone gave my party a collective anxiety but he delivered without missing a beat. Drinks, small plates, main course, in that order and with purpose. Once we surrendered to his process the experience clicked. The food was largely impressive. Grilled octopus, beef patties, lamb, bara, branzino, brussels sprouts: all excellent!! The ribeye caught me off guard at the price point but the temperature and flavor made me briefly forget what I spent. Briefly. A couple of misses worth noting the rice leaned more risotto than the dry rice I was hoping for, tolerable but not what I wanted. And the snapper arrived as fish balls without any warning or menu indication. Breaded fish is not my preference and I would have appreciated knowing that before it landed on the table. That one stung a little. The espresso martini however was perfect and closed the night on a high note. ISLA is an intimate, sophisticated experience designed for people who appreciate intentional dining. Just maybe ask about the snapper preparation before you order.

I did have one odd experience before my party arrived at the bar. While sitting at the bar, I gave up my seat so a woman could sit with her party, and her response and behavior toward me were surprisingly rude. What made the encounter a little more uncomfortable was that she seemed to know almost all the servers and folks at the bar and the hosts so for a moment I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. She and all her conversations seem to suck the life out of the room and certainly made it a dark experience. She did eventually kind of apologize. Once my colleagues arrived and we moved to our table, that moment was quickly behind me. But she and all her "friends" at the bar and throughout the restaurant made it uncomfortable. From there, the experience was excellent. The service was absolutely top-notch, and the ambiance was beautifully warm and inviting. I was dining with colleagues from work, so I didn't take a lot of picture as we were simply enjoying the evening. I had the pork chop and it was excellent. Along with the bbq greens as a standout. Everything was wonderfully seasoned and full of flavor. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere made for a terrific evening.... after the very uncomfortable bar scene. Despite that brief and unusual interaction at the bar, I would recommend you try the restaurant.
