They explained everything before each step and having frozen on the TV certainly made it easy on us all. They were so sweet and great with helping kids through new experiences. My daughter and I spent maybe 5 mins in the waiting room and the whole time was spent exploring the silly mirrors and murals. My daughter thought we were there to play in the waiting room lol. She loved it! I was explained costs and insurance coverage very clearly before the visit too. The dentist was friendly and took time to explain. They have clear workflows within the office that make the office run so smoothly. Even when it came time for X-rays, they had 3 staff there to help support the process- amazing patient experience for both my daughter and me as a parent! Wonderful experience! First appointment took about an hour with cleaning, X-rays and all the intro stuff, but future appointments were estimated at 40 apts. It certainly depends on how your child reacts.

Cut to: I arrive (alone, dad's out of town for work) with my two (non-school age) kids for my two year old's appointment and they won't let my 4 year old back and require me to stay with her in the waiting room. So my 2YO, screaming crying terrified, has to go in by herself. They brought her back 10 mins later and she couldn't breathe she was so traumatized. She has been quietly weeping and clinging to me for an hour. HOW can that be better for the exam than having me and my 4YO in the room?! Thanks for making my two year old hate the dentist... Office management needs to get a heart (and a clue). Taking our business elsewhere.

I was not expecting the process of finding a pediatric dentist to be such a chore. To find one near…read moremy home was even more difficult, and then when I was vetting the few that I found that Petite Smiles fit our needs the best. It's in Oak Park about 25 or so minutes from my home but I'm so glad I found it. The office is located on the southeast corner of Harlem & North Avenues in Oak Park. It's a small shopping center, and thankfully there are a few parking spots here. The office was quiet when we went, so parking wasn't at a premium. When we arrived, I was first struck by how clean and polished the place was. It didn't scream children's dentist to me; the lobby is a modern, sophisticated space. The receptionist was professional and after just a few minutes, the hygienist came out to bring us back. I was surprised to learn that she and I have the same name! Anyway, she was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and gave us a tour of the place as she brought us back to the toddler room, where my kiddo received her treatment. It was a super sweet and nice touch that the screens welcomed us with my baby's name, and also a message was written for her on the chalkboard in the toddler room. That room has lots of toys on the walls and a play kitchen as well as some books and stuffed animals, and chairs for the dentist, parent, and child. This visit was mostly about asking questions, getting the child familiar with the place, learn about oral hygiene for littles, and asking questions. They said I could do a cleaning if I wanted, though they usually don't at this initial visit, but I said we could give it a shot and see how she responded to it. At this age the children don't sit in the dentist chair that we're used to; instead, they lay on a platform that sits on your and the doctors knees. The cleaning took at most five minutes. She did fantastic, which I think is not solely due to her good temperament but the dentist's skill in working with children. After the cleaning, the dentist asked if I had any further questions and then left us with the hygienist to finish up. She set up our next appointment for us and took a polaroid of my girl for her first visit. Then as we left she got a sticker and a toothbrush. I couldn't have asked for a better experience to introduce my kiddo to the dentist. I know many people have a bit of anxiety about going to the dentist and my hope in choosing a pediatric dentist is that her experience will be a semi-fun one and certainly not scary. I know I made the right choice in choosing Petite Smiles for my daughter.

I have a 3 years old son that can be a somewhat challenging at times, but they were so nice that my son followed all the instructions he needed to. The dentist assistants treated my son in a very special way, they showed him the tolls and they were gentle and kind with him while taking X-ray pictures. Doc Murthy was also nice, very knowledgeable and gave me all the informations and advice for a better care on my son's teeth. He also showed the tools to him, told him what was going to happen next, asked him what flavor of tooth past he would like to use and I could tell my son was happy and comfortable. Doc Murphy did a really great teeth cleaning job, I saw the difference! At the end of the appt, they gave my son a prize toy and a shirt which was nice touch. I highly recommend them!
