I struggled between 3 and 4 stars for this review....1st of all this gym is amazing for someone who…read morewants to get a good workout without going to a sterotypical gym with a bunch of muscle heads and work out freaks. for that I give them 5 stars. The people that work there are super friendly and always say hello to you when you walk in. They also have the fitlinxx system in place so that you can track your workouts and keep an online diary of your progress. The locker rooms are also super clean and have digital locks so you don't have to bring your own locks. I guess where this place lacks the 5, 4 , or even 3 star rating some times is in the price for what you get. The equipment is fairly outdated for spending $70/month to be a member there. I have also noticed that things take forever to get repaired if they breakdown. I believe they just changed over management which means that everything could be better now, but this was a huge issue when I was there. I also had issues with getting new machines and free weight exercises added to my fitlinxx profile. I asked a few different times, and they trainers that they have to assist you were unable to add new exercises in. It wasn't a huge deal, but was something that was annoying when you expect this great system to have exercises for all the equipment that they provide. Overall as I stated in the beginning. I went to this gym for over a year and really enjoyed it. If the gym was $20-$50/month it would be a 5 star joint in my book. For the price however...join New York Sports Club in Westwood. Twice as nice, and has alot more modern equipment.

This place is really falling apart. It has been as hot as hell to the point where you can't workout…read moremore than a bit, equipment is broken for weeks at a time, the locks on lockers have been broken for quite some time despite my reporting it to the front desk twice over a month ago. A fair amount of time there are no trainers on the floor, and the front desk actually let me go for 2-weeks before I NOTICED that I had to renew my annual membership. God only knows how much longer I could have gone without paying. They have no electronic workout tracking systems. The antiquated system they had is no barely functional because the company that runs and maintains it went out of business last January. I suspect they are getting ready to shut the place down. But if they aren't they really need to put some money into it and upgrade it to the 21st century. The new managers there are really running the place poorly.

Had very high hopes for this place…read more Without going into all that I was disappointed with, the one thing that sticks with me on a daily basis is the severe tendinitis achieved by my 4th day. I'm unable to workout anything that requires lifting with my arms. Lifting a coffee mug is painful. Dr diagnosed me with tendinitis in both arms, the right being much worse than the left. Said it was from doing the same repetitive motions a few days in a row with heavy weight. He was shocked that anyone would suggest doing the same movements day after day. ... especially benching. The Dr was flabbergasted that UTG suggested I keep doing the same movements, even after pain was recognized. It only made the condition of my tendinitis worse. Apparently the young kid, who owns this place, has his own style of training - and was quite offended when I questioned it. Every Dr and physical therapist who I met with so far, thought that his "training protocols" were ridiculous and quick to injure. Hopefully, with tons of pt and rest, I'll be able to work out again in a few months. last gem on the situation: e-mail from the owner... "FWIW - since you're so smart - i suggest you read a book or two about what evidence based training protocols look like. Then come back and apologize for being clueless. Take care."

Tamir is arguably the most consistent person I know. For that reason - among others - I highly…read morerecommend UTG. Tamir's commitment to my goals somehow surpasses my own. This is, perhaps, what has surprised me the most throughout the 14+ months I've trained with him and his team. Comically, it's almost unfortunate and frustrating how much he pushes you to be your best and work hard. He's never missed a beat or an opportunity to encourage (force is much more accurate) me to go far, far beyond my perceived limits. Personal training is a luxury -- a privilege. To some it seems superfluous and it's unclear why you would shell out the money to have someone "help you exercise." My response is that you'd understand the vast benefits if you knew almost anything about motivation and discipline. It's not that easy to muster the courage to challenge yourself on a daily basis. Each rep is a mental battle. Beyond that, what do you really know about how to select, track, modify, or arrange a workout to get your desired results? What movements should you be doing? In what order? For how many sets and reps? How does your unique anatomy, goals and prior exercise history impact those decisions? Good luck. Optimizing a personalized routine based on scientific concepts like progressive overload, hypertrophy, deloading, protein, minimum effective volume and more is difficult. UTG makes it easy. Show up (and most times, shut up) and just do what you're told. It's for your good. They are the experts.
